Kishock Harpoon Gun - shield gate penetration REMOVED

I recently started playing again and did not notice anything. Kishok still oneshots any shielded enemy up to Geth Pyros  when you manage to hit the head. Probably the best single shot sniper in the game if you get used to it.

There in lies the problem. The pool of good weapons are shrinking. After a while it get's tiring seeing the same 5 weapons over and over again.

It never had shield gate pentration but for all the weight and low ammo, it really should have been able to.

I never knew that the javelin could go through shield gate in the first place, but the kishock can, and still does - if I snipe on gold, that's the gun I use because it can, and will drop rocket troopers, nemesies, maybe centurians in one headshot, and retains general hurty-ness on most other enemies

I have seen what they have just done with the krysae, its never good when they nerf one of your favorite weapons, but it is still pretty useful. All I really care about is they (if I read it right) fixed missile glitch. Hopefully no more of those awful players who can't get through a wave without the infinite missile launcher glitch.

Kishock is the only sniper able to bypass shieldgate for some reason. Not sure if its because it has bleed damage or if it was intended as the animation has the harpoon lodged in the enemy after firing it.

It can still bypass shield gate.

Also it has 300% headshot damage.

Only if you solo. With team?  I just had a nice game on gold. Kicked some phantom a.s.s. Shadow Strike is still broken, though. And Strength enhancer does nothing to it (classic melee works well, though - sword skirmish with a phantom is just nice )

Bioware tries to tweak the damage to give Assault Rifles and SMGs a chance and it's all "OH NOEZ SNIPERZ R UZELEZZ THNKS 4 MAKING INFILZ USELESS!!1!1eleven"

You are mistaken, Sniper rifles are not completely useless because of todays changes.

They were rendered useless by the Carnifex and Paladin heavy pistols which do damage comparable to the Mantis and Black widow while being a lot lighter, by the fact that you can put scopes on them and by the new cranial trama barrels that inflict extra headshot damage.

Sorry I'm better at using a weapon then you are. Let alone most people. I'm the only person I know who uses a Widow which is a 10/X. And I'm still top of the scoreboard every game I play just about. Not to mention I don't play with randoms often. 

It saddens me that people like you exist. "I can't use this weapon correctly so It sucks." Everyone has their weapon proficentys, and mine is Snipers. :innocent:

I have to agree with the OP from a comparison stand-point. The Krysae was the one sniper rifle to stay competitive with the Piranha, Reegar, Harrier, Typhoon, Hurricane, Claymore, Talon, and perhaps a few other. It was the one reason for me to take the Sniper Rifle Damage evolution on Tactical Cloak from an efficiency stand-point, and now it's been killed pretty horribly. The Valiant is the next best sniper rifle, and it's plagued by shield gate and lower sustained DPS and burst damage than a lot of the guns I mentioned above, making it hard to justify using on Gold over other guns.

Don't get me wrong, sniping is fun. Sniper rifles are still gold-viable, but they're not competitive as a whole, and the one true exception has now been nerfed to the ground. I'm gonna have to re-do a few Infiltrator builds do this nerf.

Actually, single shot sniper rifles are decent on platinum due to the sheer amount of boss mobs. They are more useful on plat than on gold because of the burst damage.

But I would still rock my BW over normal widow anyday

Your claims of shieldgate do not hold up.

Actually I think that the kishock can still one shot after stasis.  Need to test this out.

The krysae is a load of garbage though. Never liked it even when it first came out. It struck me as a sniper for those who can't aim.

It seems most explosive stuff ignore shield gate. Like falcon, grenades etc.
