Why do they keep making this game more difficult?

It's like being thrown into the water and forced to learn how to swim... you accomplish it or die. The alternative would be to wade around in a kiddie pool that comes up to your ankles and does 'nothing' for you.
There's nothing wrong with dieing, even quite a bit, when first starting out in MP. Gods know I did during the demo back before launch, but I learned how enemies act, where they come from, what the maps look like, and basically what I can do to not die. These things haven't changed, they just take time, and dieing, to learn. As it should be.
Any game that you can walk into right off and 'never' die has no challenge, period. Balance in fact 'requires' that you die occasionally, otherwise you're clearly not in any danger of losing. Heck, you even need to actually lose the whole rounds sometimes, get the Mission Failed, and try again. If you never fail, you're not learning anything.

"Simulation" and "holo-course" just make me think of Pinnacle Station...SkreeMalicious wrote...
Other possible names for new (easiest) difficulty:
Training
Simulation
Tutorial
Holo-Course
That should be the name for the next difficulty above Platinum: Pinnacle. Damn, that DLC was hard. Never managed to finish it on anything other than casual (okay, so I'm not the world's best player, but I breeze through most of ME1 on normal, but Pinnacle Station, even when I do it last thing before Ilos when I'm all leveled up, is impossible on anything but casual).

And here's a couple of big ones for newbs that came out on May 2nd.
"Objective Waves (Waves 3, 6, and 10)
- Increase XP rewards for completing objectives from 2000 to 3000
XP Rewards
- Random Faction XP bonus increased from 15% to 25%
- Random Map XP bonus increased from 10% to 15%
Credit Rewards
- Total credits rewarded for a match is unchanged
- Increased share of total credits for wave 6 by 10%
- Decreased share of total credits for wave 10 by 10%"
Before that it took longer to level characters and if you wiped after the Wave 6 objective you lost out on quite a bit more credits than you do now. Yes, there were some enemy buffs, but I'm certain that the many positive balance changes outweigh things like Centurions having a bit more health or there being a Prime in Wave 6 for Geth Gold.

I was pretty indifferent while reading the balance changes. And then I saw the one about stomping. I find stomping to be one of the worst game mechanics I have ever seen, and now it extends to gold and platinum as well. Yay.
I'm actually a big fan of the stomp mechanic. It's an extra layer that forces you to be more team oriented. Take downs however, not so much. I am a fan of take downs as long as you can revive after. Worst part about platinum on X-box is that when you get stuck in cover and a Phantom ends you or magnet hands pull you inn because you just can't get unstuck from that darn cover =3

Honestly, any of the weapons are viable for higher use. It's just a matter of which ones you use and how you use them. I make kills with a Predator on Gold on my caster class because it's a low weight weapon and I apply a nice damage mod.
Same usually add both the damage and armor piercing damage mods

That said, I've seen vids where a PC player take seconds to line up a head shot. With a mouse. Slow Bro. I actually think the consolers are better players pound for pound - I wish I had a 2 to 3 second gate to get my millions of headshots.

Thing like the enemy all was knowing where you are at all time and stun-locking you just as you get up is not a thing of difficulty but a thing of cheapness.

Bioware is trying to combat Power creep which is the concept of bringing too much power into your game i.e 1 shot everything from trooper to banshee.
By making things more difficult bioware is allowed to bring in more powerful guns and gun/power concepts that would otherwise break the game.
Power creep is pretty much one of the worst things that can destroy online games. MMOs usually frack out because they become boring 1-shot-ko fests. Examples: Shaiya, Megaten, Last chaos are mmorpgs where power creep demolishes high level play.
And I know that FPS =/= MMORPG but the theory is the same. We saw power creep at it's theoretical worst with the missile glitch. So they're trying to combat that hypthetical low point with balance changes one way or the other.
All we can really do is shout at the wind and hope it's blowing our way.

You know it's no fun when you have a wide array of super soakers.. and I'd stick with just one to play if they're all the same anyways..
The krysae was killed in the last update and granted nobody will use it anymore.. so tell me where is the point into creating new guns if they have to kill them and resort the players to the usage of few weapons still worth to be used..?

Sometimes.... developers make mistakes too. It's really easy to have AOE weapons get out of hand... proof of this is the Falcon and Krysae, the two most heavily nerfed guns in the game. If they ever introduce another AOE weapon again... I expect it will be much more balanced, as they will have tested it on the GI, with all the level 4 ammo, and compared it's synergy with all the powers in the game.
Really... if the damn thing had been made an AR from the get-go... none of this would've ever happened. I still hate the gun... I feel it's an insult to the entire concept of sniping and marksmanship... calling it a sniper rifle is a slap in the face to the very fundamentals of sniping.

Hyperbole.
People said the exact same thing about the Falcon and it's still one of the best guns in the game.
I think people are exaggerating.
You do realize that the GPS, Falcon, striker, scimitar are not really dps killers but more of Cryo/ Incendiary/ Disruptor spreaders. That's what I mean by different gun concepts. You need to think different some times but every gun has a class that should be able to utilize it.
DPS is not everything. Utility is. And you did answer your own question aswell: ''You know it's no fun when you have a wide array of super soakers.. and I'd stick with just one to play if they're all the same anyways..''
That's my 2 cents really.

No, Powercreep is when the new stuff outclasses the older one, it doesn't matter how big the gap is between the new and old stuff there will always be power creep because Bioware/devs/whatever wants you to play the new stuff.

But they're still combatting power creep.
My definition might be wrong so I guess I should do some more lurking.
But the general point still stands.
Power creep is baaaaaaaaad~ m'kay?
