I suppose many non-English movies may be unknown to UK and USA.

- Ipman (1,2)
- Stalingrad
- Red Cliff (1,2)
- Shanghai
- A Better Tomorrow (1,2)
- Once Upon A Time In China (1-3)

About the English/American movies .. the older, less known.

Depends where you live. John Woo's stuff is pretty well known in cities where foreign films get shown. Kind of funny in the Netflix age, but you need a theater to drive press coverage. Don't ask me what happens when the newspapers all go belly-up

I'm going to plug The Americanization of Emily, which probably would have been a hit if it had been released a few years later. In 1964 people weren't quite ready for a WW2 film that celebrates cowardice and lies.

Låt den rätte komma in is utterly brilliant. Easily most disturbing/beautiful vampire movie out there. Two years after it was released Hollywood did make a 1:1 " remake" out of it though. Stay  classy Hollywood.

Audition, really? ^^ Lol, 3/4 of the movie I was like "okay", and then the last 10 minutes it was more like "WTf?! What's happening"

One of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen, that pool scene at the end was unbelievable.

Before you say anything, I'm quite aware of the irony, and no RoboCop is still better.

It's probably the best American black comedy.

Someone is an Ellen Page fan. The feeling is mutual. Looks I have some new movies to add on my 'to watch list'.

Oh, I didn't read the thread carefully, it's already been mentioned.

I am also an Ellen Page fan, and a Rainn Wilson fan. Both are great in this one. Some people I know didn't like it much, but I certainly did. Observant viewers will have noticed that Rainn Wilson also appeared in the beginning of Juno.

Good choice!

I don't know if it's particularly unknown, but it slipped a bit under the radar around these parts I think: Cabin in the Woods. Most enjoyable movie this year for me.

Yes, yes I am. She's ridiculously talented, which is why I suspect she got famous and unfortunately may be the same reason her workload is a lot lighter than I would like. Hollywood isn't a big fan of diverse talent.

You owe it to yourself to see it. Not only because she's in it, but because it's one of the best black comedies I've ever seen.

It's got some of the funniest dialogue I've ever heard.

E:...and Batman has Robin. What the f*ck is a robin?
R: It's a bird.
E: Well, why the f*ck is he named after a bird?
R: Because, birds are loyal.

It's hilarious because you're left with a wtf face whenever they're on screen together. Nathan was also a nice touch.

She's quite underrated alongside Theron and many others I could think of.
I like Black Comedy, particularly Coen Brothers films, so thanks for the reccommendations. I've seen Chloe, it was a decent film particularly thanks to the awesome Julianne Moore.

The two recommendations I posted above is among my favorite movies, that includes quite amount of black comedy.

Not unknown, but I rarely find people who remember/love it. *The show is even better.*

Also, The Trotsky. Curious to see if anyone else even watched it. *Canadian film that takes place in Canada. Usually those just slip by the media. MTV Canada was pushing it though.*

One of my favorite bits as well, and yeah Holy Avenger was great too. At this rate I'm going to have to watch it again.
