Cute? are you kidding?

I thought Let The Right One In was very cute.

Fair enough. It was cute...in a way.

If you were like me when I was a kid, reading and watching a lot of Gothic fantasies then this would have been a near perfect movie.

If those gothic fantasies included genital mutilation, oppressive loneliness, and gender identity issues, then I guess we're on the same page.

I was allowed to pick out my own books as a kid.

The man from Earth- about a man who is 10,000 or so years old and tells his friends that are professors about this to see their reaction.

The Hunted- About a man who gets hunted by a clan of ninjas (Probably the best movies I've seen with ninjas).

The Lookout- Well I don't want to describe it and give away the plot.

It's probably the best American black comedy.

Someone is an Ellen Page fan. The feeling is mutual. Looks I have some new movies to add on my 'to watch list'.

Yes, yes I am. She's ridiculously talented, which is why I suspect she got famous and unfortunately may be the same reason her workload is a lot lighter than I would like. Hollywood isn't a big fan of diverse talent.

You owe it to yourself to see it. Not only because she's in it, but because it's one of the best black comedies I've ever seen.

I didn't find the movie very funny, maybe I wasn't in the right mood....

However, the love scene should be required viewing for everyone.

@Fuinris Come on! Who hasn't heard of Brazil?

My two recommendations are these two great aussie movies I stumbled on too I never heard of them before until recently. Excuse my oversimplified descriptions.

A teens mom overdoses on heroine so he moves in with his estranged grandmother and crime family.

Well in the colonies. Almost everyone. In the small little hovel in Lower Saxony where I come from they know only 'the brazillian' and that's it.

:D

A Mightnight Clear

One of the saddest movies I've ever seen. Good film though.

What a hilarious movie. There is a Black Dynamite show or will be on Adult Swim.

Guys just so you know.
If I'm aware of the movie then you're doing it wrong.
I don't watch movies very often. Everyone and their mother has seen Troy and Big Labowski.
Come on!

Hedwig was great - Short Bus even better though - it lead to one of the most insane arguments ever when I was in Uni about transexuals in movies.

As for more unknown - and some controversial - movies okay:

Vase De Noces (not saying english title)
The Life and death of a porno gang
Der todesking

Looking through dvd's hang on

Four flies on grey velvet
I stand alone
A ma soeur!
Latter days
Twelve (Russian 12 angry men)
Strawberry estates
Romper Stomper
Tesis
Tromeo and Juliet
La setts (The Sect)

Shortbus is great same here about arguments but I also used it as an exmaple that graphic sex in movies doesn't = porn like so many people seem to think.

I have to check out both Hedwig and Shortbus

Since we're now talking about sex themed films

Three of our favourite movies:

Shattered Glass
Bottle Shock
and
Persuasion

{They actually had a stunt person for Shattered Glass. It took the two of us an entire dinner to figure out why}

Goemon

B)

Netflix has it dubbed in English with Funimation voice actors. :)
I prefer to watch original movies with English subtitles but the actors did really well.

I bought this last year and never watched it. I'm pretty sure it's still in plastic.

I have to start actually watching movies again.

Yep, great movies (Moon isn't famous?).

I'd also say Melancholia (I was really surprised by this) and Aimée & Jaguar (I cry every damn time). I think most of the other movies I have are well known, or at least known.

I've never seen the anime (there's only a few that I've liked), but I loved the film.
