She is very insistent that she is not, in fact, a tank. However, the majority of enemies seem to focus on her, even though she is the second lowest class of armor out of her four-member team. This focus makes it very difficult to creep around behind of opponents and stab them in the back.
Admittedly, I don't use stealth (so many better talents for her in my opinion), but don't enemies usually focus on the higher armor characters?
Anyone with tips on how to keep focus off my rogue so she can do her job and NOT act as a second tank?
My rogue would like to complain.

Run in with your tank in the front.

My last play-thru was a rogue/tank, with Stealth. Bard/Assasin (Tho I didn't get any reall talents from either)
About half the Magic users my party faced were killed by her, personally. High Cunning and 4th stealth makes for an interesting rogue. Even fooled the Archdemon. Twice.

I'm finding stealth to actually be a lot of fun: although with the tank(s) using taunt and threaten (or Shale's related abilities), you don't really need it.
So, to answer: taunt, threaten, stuns, freeze, sleep -- these will keep enemies busy so you can backstab.

Though I may put my back-up tank in front. Let Alistair meet them head on then have Sten flank them while my rogue goes in from behind...

You might want to get some equipment with 'reduce hostility' on her. It keeps my rogue out of trouble.

Admittedly, my rogue kind of walks the border between rogue and warrior and makes a semi-decent back-up tank. I invest a lot in the dual-weapon skills but with lockpicking and high coercion.
But setting Alistair and Sten's tactics to include taunt and threaten might help quite a bit. As well as the "reduce hostility" gear someone else mentioned.
Once I get the assassin specialization unlocked, then there will be good times.

Well you can try equipment that reduces hostility or have the main tank use the taunt ability often ( Use tactics to do it automatically ), use dirty fighting or the bard abilities.. if you are a bard. or learn the dodge ability if they hit you much.
But the best option is, well. learn stealth at lvl 3.
With combat stealth and good cun you can fool every enemy in the game. And you can set traps or disable them without being noticed. It is also good for scouting or to kill mages or archers without taking a single hit, simply hiding and backstabbing ( I get the achievement of kill 250 enemies without being damaged in the middle game).
Also sneak allows you to backstab enemies in the first atack wich is a automatic critical ( also works with bows), even more if you are an assasin.
My advice? learn sneak. Makes your rogue life easier.

For your tank's tactics, make him taunt whenever the cooldown is up.
Personally, Shale is a better tank because enemies get attracted to her like a magnet, due to her unique talents.
