Yep, I play Silver even though I don't have to.

I don't mind playing 2 games of silver rather than 1 game of gold to buy a Spectre pack, knowing I'll almost always completed both silvers, as opposed to a gold challenge where I have ladybirds as teammates,

Gold only spawns two bosses on the map at a time. (besides Reapers)
Platinum is ridiculous though.

Sometimes my crying 2-month old limits me to Bronze.
Makes that extraction timer a bit more dramatic when you have a wailing little girl on your lap.

I average 18 minutes in silver for 30,000 credits. In gold pugs I typically have to burn through all 5 of my rockets, medigels, etc costing me 33,000 credits to reload and pugs usually finish around 30 minutes. Obviously when I can play with people I know, we grind platinum.
Essentially what keeps me in silver is the ease and the fact that in 40 minutes I make 60,000 credits or 1400 credits a minute vs. 81,000 in 60 minutes or 1350 credits a minute.
Now when I do get in the mood for gold and get a great pug. Of course I stay there. IMO there really isnt much difference between silver and gold as far as difficulty goes.

Silver is the most fun
Gold is the most challenging
Platinum is the most credits
Platinum is also the most tedious, cheap and boring mode imo.
The perfect summary.
yep
This is a correct assessment.

Silver is about having fun with friends, we can goof off, explore try new things, I can't remember the last time we didn't receive extraction and we never have to use consumables.
Gold is a different gameplay and requires you stick together if you want an easy run, except for sending a team member on an objective or as a group, you have to be good to survive.
Plat is simply a camp shooting match and hope to hell you get them all, load the most powerful gear you have with the character you perform the best with, personally do not find it fun at all, sure the credits are nice but it's not for me.

When I'm just hosting and getting randoms in my room--I'm all about Silver.
It's far less frustrating, I get less obnoxious "it's wave 10 let's objective and die!" players, and I actually get to play with some people who are often trying to improve themselves and willing to take constructive criticism.
Quite a few of my "random Silver players" are now my go-to "We're short one person for Gold, let's get X in here" players.

When I hit 255 of everything, I then proceed to play some Gold. When my supplies dip below 200, I start playing silver again..

Lately I've been playing Gold whenever I have the missiles/medigel, and then pop into silver for the easy 30k for a supply pack when I'm running low.

Would the JEPs be the best/fastest way to stock up on consumables, or spamming 6 x Recruitment Packs for the price of 1 x JEP?

I would imagine there are others who play mostly silver. Not because they can't play gold or even plat., but because silver is just more fun. They, like me, probably have a pretty high success rate on gold....even in pugs.
On silver I can move out of cover without getting one or two shot constantly. I can arm different weapons and play a wider variety of characters. I don't have to rely on consumables, or teammates, or equip top of the line gear/weapons.
Gold and plat are not better gameplay imho, just more bosses. Perhaps if BW comes up with something besides "the horde" relentlessly attacking, I'll play gold and plat. Until then, I'll stick to mostly silver.
The gold and plat. players will continue to look down their noses at us silver players, smug in their preceived superiority. However, there are alot of silver players who can easily compete in gold and plat., we just choose not to.
Lastly, some of us silver players lead by example. We try to train the new arrivals from bronze how to be better players through teamwork and cooperation. It's amazing to see people who run around trying to be top score for the first 2 waves, following me around for protection by wave 4 or 5. We keep them alive so they can learn through success rather than failure. Others don't want to learn.....nothing we can do about that.
Anyway, I'm a sliver player. My feet are propped up and I'm not stressed. Just having fun.....cheers!
As far as game development goes in my honest opinion giving enemies a bamillion health and allowing them to drain all of your health in one to two shots is a very lazy and uncreative way of making a game more difficult.
I agree with you. I think SILVER is the best difficulty. It is the most fun for sure. BRONZE is just too easy and with GOLD they went too far because there are a lot of characters that aren't even GOLD viable because of the way things are in GOLD. You need specific characters and specific character builds in order to make it through GOLD and for that reason alone I say that the entire GOLD mode needs to be revamped. And don't even get me started on PLATINUM. There are about only 5 character builds in the entire game that can get through PLATINUM.
The only reason I play GOLD is to make some quick credits when I feel like getting some Premium Spectre Packs. Most of the time I play SILVER.
Another problem with GOLD is that EVERYBODY just playes against the Geth. I have no idea why this is, because Cerberus are the easiest faction to play against. So if you want to do some credit farming then why play against the Geth? They are much harder than Cerberus. Another problem with GOLD is that the only map people play is Firebase White. I wish Bioware would do something like every 3 months they remove Firebase White from use for the entire month. I'm so sick of that map already.
I like SILVER for the same reasons you do. People play on different maps, not just the same map over and over again. Also people play against any and all factions, not just against the Geth. On SILVER people also use all kinds of different characters and loadouts. On GOLD you always just see the same characters and loadouts being used by everybody.
I hate to say it but in Bioware's attempts to make GOLD difficult they ended up taking all the fun out of GOLD mode. There are many ways to make a game more challenging while still keeping it fun. Bioware really need to look into that.
I also find the quality of people to be better on SILVER. On GOLD it seems you are not allowed to do anything, otherwise people will complain. I've had people complain that I use the N7 Shadow's Shadow Strike too much, that I use the Vorcha's Flamer too much, that I use the N7 Pirahna Shotgun too much. It's just ridiculous. Basically if you play on GOLD and if you do ANYTHING people will complain.
There are a lot of reasons why GOLD mode just isn't any fun at all.
