Yep, I play Silver even though I don't have to.

Most often I find players in Gold who can't even aim at a enemy, let alone find a missile. An my one forray into platinum told me that the people I play with... (myself included) aren't cohesive enough as a unit to pull it off successfully. Yet.

If it helps, I play silver with other people... like I'm soloing? Often enough I'm the last one standing as it is... Unless I'm having a bad night.

Silver is awesome because it gives you much more freedom and creativity.

I would imagine there are others who play mostly silver. Not because they can't play gold or even plat., but because silver is just more fun. They, like me, probably have a pretty high success rate on gold....even in pugs.
On silver I can move out of cover without getting one or two shot constantly. I can arm different weapons and play a wider variety of characters. I don't have to rely on consumables, or teammates, or equip top of the line gear/weapons.
Gold and plat are not better gameplay imho, just more bosses. Perhaps if BW comes up with something besides "the horde" relentlessly attacking, I'll play gold and plat. Until then, I'll stick to mostly silver.
The gold and plat. players will continue to look down their noses at us silver players, smug in their preceived superiority. However, there are alot of silver players who can easily compete in gold and plat., we just choose not to.
Lastly, some of us silver players lead by example. We try to train the new arrivals from bronze how to be better players through teamwork and cooperation. It's amazing to see people who run around trying to be top score for the first 2 waves, following me around for protection by wave 4 or 5. We keep them alive so they can learn through success rather than failure. Others don't want to learn.....nothing we can do about that.
Anyway, I'm a sliver player. My feet are propped up and I'm not stressed. Just having fun.....cheers!
Internet High-Five's to you, Sir/Madam!
I'm a serial Silver player, I have played abour 4-5 nonFBWGG Gold PUGs with consumables, finished first or second on the scoreboard, but just not having fun in Gold. Too intense and high risk of non-performing randoms, whereas in Silver I can rambo on without consumables and have fun with my not-so-good builds.
I'm looking for some mindless fun, not an acute myocardial ischaemia-inducing rounds of 4 phantoms, 3 atlases and 2 turrets in a small area like FBGlacier on Wave 10. I haven't even tried Platinum yet.
Silver: it's a lifestyle choice.

Why would any one do so? Apart from self-proclaimed elitists that is.Lynx7725 wrote...
Just curious. Are the Silverites going to look down upon the Bronzers the way the Gold/ Platty crowd look down upon the Silverites?
And unless it wasn't clear yet, i also prefer Silver above Gold. No camping farmers, less leechers, PUGs who actually try to play, just awesome. Though to be honest i wouldn't mind slight boost to the numbers of the enemies on Silver at least occasionally - something akin to a mix of Gold and Silver (i guess that would make it 'white gold' - not referring to the firebase though).

Just curiosity really. I've seen too many cases of people complaining about a certain behaviour, then turn around to apply the same behaviour to others.WandererRTF wrote...

Frankly, play at whatever level that entertains you best. If you enjoy Gold, play Gold. I prefer Bronze, more entertainment, so I play Bronze. If Silver rocks your boat, Rock-and-Roll Silver, man.

Nah that's fine. When I play Bronze I usually take note of any usually low N7s and keep an eye somewhat on those. Or at least try.WandererRTF wrote...
Well, i don't really expect that much of a contribution from them in the game, but i have no qualms trying to protect them during it if required. If you consider that as 'looking down upon' then i suppose I'm guilty as charged. But i have no problems playing with them, in fact most seem well aware of the change in difficulty and stick with the team better than 'elites' making them actually quite preferable teammates.
People going to a harder difficulty tends to either be more cautious or totally rambo. Rarely in between. Yes, do agree when higher difficulty players come down, they tend to have more of a rambo, or lone wolf mentality. Normally when it doesn't get into the team's enjoyment, I got no issue and just leave them to their enjoyment/ relaxation. Occassionally one would be really too good for the lower level though, and the entire team end up lagging behind him.

Went over to Silver and its all good again.
I usually play 3-4 bronze games to pad a lvl 1 character, just so he'll have some useful skills then go Silver and beat the living crap out of the opposition.
Less stress, more fun.

I'll play gold and the very occasional platinum for money, but it's sometimes just either a chore or not fun because of inexperienced players (or the enemy type).

I like silver, I can make builds for fun rather than sheer, bosskilling efficiency. Spec my Batarian Soldier to have more blade armor, give my Turian Sentinel Tech armor, add Incinerate to my Quarian Male Engineer (Having Incinerate actually do something is great!)
I like silver, going back to gold once I get a good amount of consumables again. The UR gambling game is calling me once more to Firebase Glacier!

Don't see why that should be. I play Bronze ofteb too especially when I just wantvto shoot stuff and not feel like everyone has to "be their best" bronze is perfect for just experimenting with a new play style, new class, getting used to a class you don't often play or just chilling out and helping those new to the game break in.
I still see N7s in the sub 40s in Bronze so helping them get levels and not dying is good too.

Sometimes I do this. I will join a bronze match specifically to carry some new players and get them their first couple of levels easy. I'm nice like that:)

Bronze is a good stepping stone for new players to learn, and for old players to just run amok.. Silver has a taste of the gold challenge, without the obscene cheapness some fights give you. Its just... Fun.
Each tier has its own level of fun, an as you become more profficient with the game and its mechanics you move up. I don't look down on bronzers, because frequently I join them just to break the monotony of either the boring gold farming runs I land in.. Or the dysfunctional Silvers we all come across.
Its nice to keep things changing and fresh.
