-The realm through the eluvian is the elfs version of the fade. The old elves used to draw power from here instead and is why keeper magic is so different and why elfs used to live longer, because they were a complete different culture with different dreams abd values. Their gods were also spirit manifestations, but instead of a plethora of demons/spirits they were all condensed into more powerful single entities. The elfs also had their own form of regular magic and blood magic. When they were conquered and enslaved by humans they started to share in human beliefs and dreams and now they enter the human fade, live as long as humans, and when they breed with humans they are born as complete humans instead of being mixed. Basically the elves have human spirits now.
-When the trickster banished the other elven spirits, he sent the good ones to the golden city. There they combined into a single, incredibly powerful entity. This is the maker. Further explanation below. Since spirits need a physical medium to stay in the real world, he chose the only thing able to withstand the evil ones power, high dragons. These became the old gods.
-The golden city was the manifestation of hope (replace with love for 80's style lol) and existed in all the fades simultaneously. This is because everything is tied to it. Pride infers hope that you're superior, you hope for justice/karma when you've been wronged, etc. The elven gods combined To deal with the torrent of emotions and power flowing through the place. When the old gods and magisters all of the despair/hatred they had caused through their blood magic changed it to the black city. The maker threw them back to the real world, but now tainted. The taint is a physical embodiment of despair, and the calling is all the races suffering, which also drives anything it infects insane. Basically the darkspawn are a special type of abomination. You get to the city by going to all the races fades simultaneously.
-Flemeth was the imperial archon at the time they went to the golden city. This is why she can transfer bodies and has enough knowledge of old god magic to turn into a high dragon. She transferred bodies in a much more timely manner than corypheus and still has the agenda of making herself a god by harnessing the power of the black city. She started by making a cure to the blight, creating the grey wardens. She's reserrecting the dragons so she can split the maker back into its individual parts and then cast them into high dragon bodies.
-Morrigan found out about her identity and plans. She plans to stop her and has had several plans to stop Flemeth. The old god baby is an attempt to create a person powerful enough to stop her, is trying to enlist support of the trickster, etc. If you killed her, you have to pick up where she left off best you can, or supports if alive.
-Andraste had the soul of Dumat, but was still human. She experienced Dumat's memories as visions. She gave the maker it's name and assumed it to be an all powerful entity of goodness due to its nature, and her it's prophet due to her visions. her human side abhors the magisters. With extra powers and leadership capabilities due to Dumat are ironically used to lead the rebellion. She dies not knowing what she truly was.
- The dwarves also have their own fade. They were allied with tevinter and helped with gaining access to their part of the fade, and perhaps helped with the ritual that destroyed arlathan by providing the underground component. Sometime after either by accident or purposefully trying to create lyrium they end up causing a cataclysm that destroys all fade spirits permanently and ruptures their fade. The rupture points, which are spreading, is where lyrium is. Regular lyrium and blood lyrium are from that fades types of respective magic. This explains the existence of lyrium in the real world, why it's only underground/only where dwarves are/were, and why dwarves can't use magic because there is nothing to draw from, but yet their fade still exists even though it isn't crumbling, which is why they aren't all tranquils.
-Kossith have a fade as well. A delegation also helped enter the qunari's fade. This was before the Qun, and the kossith most likely had a cruel magocracy similar to tevinter at the time. This is why the Qun is so harsh I mages, in the revolution it sought to prevent this from happening instead of finding them more useful, rational roles such as heavy artillery and healers. From word of their being multiple demons and possessions their fade is similar to humans rather than elves.
- Some of the dwarven, human, kossith, and elfs that helped the magisters were women who turned into broodmothers when they were tainted. This explains archdemon Dumat having an army when he was released and the existence of ogres long before the qunari invasion of Thedas, yet the qunari were ignorant and needed research on the blight. There was a time gap between the casting out of the magisters and old gods and the first blight, but Andraste had no way to know this since Dumat was dormant and had no memory to give her a vision.
- Dumat's soul has been being passed down direct descendants of Andraste. Maric is the one currently in possession and Flemeth wants Maric so she can extract Dumat's soul and put it in a high dragon, restoring his true self and granting a powerful ally against the maker.
