TBH I found DA2 companions far more interesting than any of DAO's Alistair's humour was funny at first but soon became rather grinding talking to Sten was like trying to talk to a Vorlon(Babylon 5),Wynne was far more interesting in the books than the games and Morrigan's "I hate everyone" EMO attitude became tiresome by the midpoint and the same could be said of Zevran's "flirt with anything that has a pulse" attitude, As for Anders he seemed like Alastair but with a ponytail.

As for the OGB i could really give a monkeys the only reason i choose the Dark Ritual is because all the other endings are flat out rubbish.
I dont really care for playing a Warden again either the so much more to Thedas than "The Wardens"

Sorry to break it to you but its already said the Warden would always have a presence in the games. You might want to play something else since you hate them so much

I think the best possible story is to play as a new wardend charged with finding the warden comander and hawke. this allows the game to take place over all the map and being a warden gives you that specail athority option. it would make the story about finding the compaions of both hawke and the warden comander. all wail the mage templar war is rageing around you. this also fits into gathering compaions of your own some even former compaions of the warden and hawke that ask to join the new warden. it as a story point allows for the first two stories to be told to new players to the DA franchise aswel as tieing in both save game stories arching over from DAO and DA2 so your actions from both games are carried over to the new but seen from a new point of veiw.

or you could be a fereldon agent tasked with finding them never really liked the wardens manner there are limits to how much anyone should sacrifise

The Wardens seem to share a lot of the same code and ideals as the watch (Black Brothers, whatever you want to call them) from A Game of Thrones, but the watch is a little more hardcore in their rules. I wonder if Dragon Age took any inspiration from that series?

I agree that what they expect of Wardens is extreme, but it is a group of people from all walks of life, killers and kings. When you join, it's a clean slate, you give up who you were, good or bad, and devote yourself to the cause of stopping the Darkspawn and the next Blight. They are the only ones who can do the job, so it is a necessary sacrifice.

The reason he went with another Warden is that the Wardens have a lot of authority over the majority of the nations of Thedas and we saw them sneeking through Kirkwall ath the end of the second game; an agent of Ferelden wouldn't have that much say in Orlais. He/she would have to rely on subterfuge and anyone who sympathizes with Ferelden within Orlais; which could make for an interesting game, or a real hassle.

think of how a good compromise it would be if Bioware could let us fans choose who to play as

import warden, import hawke or play as a new character

with each different stories

They are capable to do this,

it would be excellent

i want to hear my warden say:

" i wont stand by and watch while ferelden gets destroyed!

Have they released any kind of timeline for DA3? The warden can't have very many years left by the time DA2 ends. I believe we also lost out on Hawke's ending story when the DLC and expansion was canceled. If I had a choice I would pick Hawke since there is more room for growth than with the warden.

@Melca I did not say I hate The Grey Wardens I'm simply against playing a Grey Warden for every single game because some DAO fans get butthurt over not being able to play a Warden yet again, As I said there is so much more to Thedas than just the Grey Wardens so not every game has to have a Grey Warden as a PC.

I'm more inclined to go with dsl08002's idea of a choice 3 Import Warden,Import Hawke and a totally new character.

@aryon they havent said much beyond the "it'll be done when its done" line. from what i recall most Grey Wardens live for about 20-30yrs after their joining before they go on the Calling however the books say that actually the taint doenst kill the Grey Warden because they change into some kind of Ghoul/Warden hybrid but its very painful and quite disturbing so it seems the calling was created to spare future wardens from this

If you played the Warden's keep mission, you meet that old sorcerer who discovered a way to extend his life and (relative)sanity for decades beyond what any other Warden could by manipulating the taint in his own blood. Who's to say that there aren't more loopholes to the infection rate of the taint?

I liked Hawke, and wouldn't mind being able to play as him again, but I lean more towards the Warden. The way they made the ending of two sound, the Chantry wanted to find either Hawke or the Warden because they believed that those two individuals were the only ones capable of ending the war. I want the final game to be one with a choice in protagonist.

*SPOILERS AHEAD*

I am sorry if I seem to be rude but No. I say nay to beggining the next Dragon Age with Hawke or any other kind of Grey Warden. Only because of one thing though. I saw something from Bioware, saying that they plan on starting the game with a WHOLE NEW protagnist. Yes, you read this correctly. And I find it not very hard to believe either. I mean think about it! Cassandra, the Seeker, investigates Varric on finding the missing Champion, tells him the Chantry has corrupted, then Lelianna appears to be WITH the seekers! This, in my mind, leads me to believe if their is to be yet another protagnist, it's going to be, a Seeker. Whose main goal is to find Hawke and help restore balance to the Chantry...but that's just me thinking allowd. Thoughts?

Soo, they did say that Hawke's story (as the main character) is over. And that the Warden (from DAO) will not be an NPC (check the twitter thread on this forum)

Yeah I know, but it doesn't mean that the Story of either of them is over.

You can't carry on the story of a character about whose character you know nothing.

I really would like to play with my Warden again. But I see how that might be a problem with the Witch Hunt or death by the Archdemon...

yet I would still like to have the option to play as the warden... like in the beginning of the DA3 you would have the option to choose who your character is: WAS he/she Warden/Hawke in the past and have all ppl and companions react that way.

These are ofc. just wishes whispered into the air. What I TRULY hope is that whatever the game will be like, it has AT LEAST AS GOOD Storyline as DA:O had.

I tweeted Mike Laidlaw ages ago asking whether we would at least find out what happens to the Warden and Hawke and his reply was, "Maaaaaaaaybe.... *cough*"

DA2 ends 10 years after the ending in DAO-The Warden has plenty of time at that point. Now if DA3 starts 10 years after that, time might be a issue.

On the Dragon Age wiki page, there is talk that DA3 will be a completely new story with a new protagonist, all new areas (different designs). Although there is going to be an port save option, which could allow cameos of Hawke or The Warden (Only if you did the Dark Ritual). Other than that, not much else is known about DA3. As of yet, BioWare is still only in the planning stage, so it's unknown when the game will be announced/ released.

Also (just remembered) there is speculation the game will be set in aall of Thedas, and the map specs like that of DA:O, where you choose where you want to go in the world, not just individual locations like DA2.

Hopefully this helped :)

I would love some day to reprise my Warden:wub:  That, and the inclusion of race options/origins that such a thing would necessitate, would be absolutely ideal.  A preorder for me.

I would like this, but I think bioware probably thinks its too much work.:?

Plus they're set on having voiced protagonists, and that'll probably require......3 voices for each sex on the warden (elf, dwarf, human), male/female for hawke, male/female for new character.

DA3 will have a new protagonist that i believe will be located in Orlais ( Oh dear god we will have to listen to people with the same accent as Queen Anora's assistant the elf ) And Bioware does not, i repeat DOES NOT give a rats ass about Hawke or The Grey Warden.

If we're in Orlais we may as well be Orlaisian(Orlesian?), what's one more French accent gonna hurt?

Yeah, I am not so sure about Orlais... Those accents are awesome when they are rare, not when every single person speaks like that.
