If it's a kickstarter, who says Obsidian would develop it? That sounds to me like an independent project. Apparently Avellone has that flexibility since he's working on Wasteland 2.

Not that I care- I loved FNV so Obsidian developing it would be fine by me. I'd support this project either way.

I love Obsidian even before they were Obsidian; I loved them even back when most of them worked at Black Isle. I've played and owned all of their games (both as Obsidian and Black Isle) and I loved them all. They have their flaws (especially in regards to glitches) but they make up for it with their writing.

So a Planescape reboot? Sure, I'm down with that :3

What was so special about the original?

It's just simply the best rpg ever.

It can't be the best RPG ever with that combat.

Not interested. While Planescape: Torment was a great game, it had its flaws. There are RPGs I thought were overall better games despite having weaker stories and more filler combat. Besides, I really dislike his commentary on D&D. I understand why Avellone wants to get away from it. It's only natural he would want complete creative freedom.

What he fails to understand is some of us find the D&D trappings a bonus; not a hindrance. I adore the Planescape outside the CRPG itself. The CRPG having connections to the tabletop game is part of what made it special to me. PT had a great story and had impressively innovative elements, but it wasn't so perfect that I would play any new game solely because it took place in a pseudo setting with similar trappings and themes. It might be great. It could as easily be trash. Definitely a wait and see situation for me.

I agree.  Give me a Planescape game written by MCA with all those good story elements (not a sequel) BUT also with good turn based tactical d&d combat too (Gold Box, ToEE, Knights of the Chalice)

Best of both worlds right there !

Didn't really like the D&D mechanics of Planescape. I love pause and play, but I feel like a system similar to Fallout's would've done better. I mean Fallout plays the closest to Planescape, at least more so than Baldur's Gate. If he abandons the D&D mechanics, I wouldn't feel bad. Whatever they do with Planescape, it is a must buy for me. I agree with you, Bussin, maybe a turn-based style combat system would do wonders. I mean combat isn't emphasised; therefore, a slower combat system would probably fit it better. All in all, he better not be blowing smoke and make this side-project happen.
