At the very least, it's weight should be increased. It's kind of ridiculous just how light it is. A weight increase with a moderate decrease to the rate of fire would be the best idea imo. The weapon would still kick ass anyway.
I really love the Piranha and the concept behind it, but I simply can't deny it's more than a bit crazy at the moment.
If there's anything that should be done to it, it's just to remove the buff that was given to it last week. People asking for more can shove their heads where the sun never shines.
Oh? Perhaps it should be as heavy as the Javelin with the RoF of the Falcon? I'd say that makes absolute sense.
So long as each pellet hit like a Javelin, I'd go for that.
Not really. Each pellet should have the same damage as an Eagle's single bullet.
Challenge accepted.

What about calling attention to the guns nobody uses? Nerfing guns that some people perceive that everybody else uses is going about it the wrong way. Because all you end up doing is getting rid of guns people like to use and then they will simply move on to the next viable gun until that gets called out on being OP.
Until what? Until every gun is less than optimal and viable on platinum? Yeahhhhh no thanks.
God forbid we have good Shotguns besides the Claymore and Reegar. My issue with Shotguns is how terrible the Common and Uncommon ones perform in their given category. Sure Rare and I hope, Ultra-Rare shotguns should naturally be top-tier to their lower-end cousins, but the Scimitar, and Katana are just bad. Even the Avenger is an okay AR for it's category, same goes for the Vindicator and Mattock (especially the Mattock which is only really outclassed by the Cerb-Harrier, Typhoon and Saber). Predators and Phalanxes are good in their respective categories until they become outclassed (as is proper) by Rare/Ultra-Rare equivalents, but the shotguns are really underwhelming at the bottom-tiers. Like, so underwhleming that they are just plain bad. I was happy to see a shotgun as awesome as the Pirahna, it's basically a super-Scimitar, just as the Typhoon is a super-Revenant.

A gold atlas has 21094 shields and 21094 armor. A piranha X's pelltets hit for 88.7. So assuming every pellet hit, we're talking 237 pellets for the shields and 297 pellets for the armor, assuming shredder mod equipped. The gun has a clip of 8 and fires, what, 8 pellts? That's 64 pellets per clip. Granted that's before factoring in character bonuses but... do you smell bull****? Because I smell bull****.

You know what I find funny? All this complaints about how it's so overpowered, and yet nobody notices the elephant in the room, that biotics and tech can deal the same damage in a shorter span, without thousands of credits worth of packs and weapons.
Weapons as a whole are rather underpowered. Things that leave the weaponsmasters in a corner rarely mean much trouble for a team of biotic artillery, yet the amount of complaint threads on said classes is minimal... Everyone just looks at a single weapon and decides "I'm going to sit on the forums for a couple of weeks and whine about how OP this is", without going out and using everything else.
And all of this crap about "Ideal circumstances" is pointless. Chances are in a proper match on proper difficulties, you're not going to be anywhere near "ideal" circumstances. On platinum, you're not going to have the time to get your enemy into a position where you're dealing 1125% your usual damage. You're going to be shooting until whatever's in front of you's dead, then you're going to do it again, and again, then you're going to have to escort a drone, then you're going to have to do it while three banshees try to bull-rush you, but you're never going to be doing it with your mythical "ideal circumstances". Take away all of your "if you're sat like this while looking at this" rubbish and consider it like you would in the game, where things won't be ideal, and your enemies aren't going to give two damns about <insert mathematical equation/strategic numerical system here>.
I'm sorry, I've never seen a biotic solo a banshee in any quick method. I've seen a Vorcha with a regar/flamer combo oblitterate a banshee.
Engineers? Forget about it. Maybe a demolisher burning ammo packs could do it.
If you wanna manage it, you need heavy weapons, and thus you take a hit to your powers.
Aside from the Fury, and even then I doubt this, can you name a single class that can reliably hurt a shield/barrier + armor boss with their powers alone? I've never seen this.
Powers and their combos can sweep up spawns faster than anything short of a missile.

Another who has fallen into the hole of "this class doesn't work on it's own, therefore it is useless".
You do realise that you are playing a co-op game? You know, where you play with other people? With whatever classes they want?
You're playing a damn team game, work as one to work better. Biotics and tech don't work as well when used solo, but they get monumental rewards for working as a team. Put the two together and what've you got? Using something solo is a complete and inaccurate scenario. It's almost like this whole "ideal scenario" area. You're not going to go out and repeatedly play alone, are you? No, you'll play with a team, so take them into account. Just because something's good on solo and something's bad on solo, doesn't mean that as a team, they'll be good or bad.

Apparently, since a clip to a Gethfiltrator is 22,000 damage. It won't take out a Gold Atlas in one clip, no. It will, however, take one down in about 6.6 seconds (2 clips and 2 proxy mines).

Any my point flies over your head.
A solo weapons class can tear up just about everything on their own.
A biotic? Peon units at best.
So screw the team mentality until I feel like I can someway contribute to the DPS a bit more.

I used this gun on my Kroguard last night and it did not seem OP at all. Its what the scimitar should be, an assault shotgun with a wide spread but still does great damage when most of the pellets hit. You're upset because people use it? Why aren't there any Nerf harrier threads? Everyone I see uses that gun on every class it seems, and it is defOP compared to other ARs. (I do not condone nerfing in any way).
It's a UR AR with very ****ty base/spare ammo size. I'd hardly consider that OP, especially considering the classes using it are probably damage-based classes (Human AR Soldiers, Destroyers, Turian Marksmen, Infiltrators, etc...). The Typhoon is also an amazing LMG, and basically what the Revenant should've been in ME3, but does that mean it's OP? Nope, it's got it's own problems and disadvantages. Like being heavy as all Hell and thus only viable on characters who aren't worried about cooldowns.

2 clips, as I said above. Gold Atlas now has 23000 armor, not 21094; it was buffed. Gethfiltrator has a lot of bonuses: networked AI (22.5%) hunter mode (17.5%), cloak (80%), then 25% from barrel, 15% from gear, 40%? from level IV ammo, 40%? from level 4 amp. That's a total of 240% additive, then 20% multiplier from Proxy Mine. Therefore, each shot deals 2895.168 damage. 8 of those are 23161.344. You'll get 7 of 8 shots out while in the 2.5-second Cloak window, so the last loses 80%*1.2*709.6 damage. Ergo, total damage is 22480.128. That's all of the shield in the first clip without even adding in the 1500 damage from Proxy Mine.

Platinum is not supposed to be easy. The game is not balanced around Platinum, it is balanced around Gold. As far as buffing old weapons, you then get into power creep. They then have to buff bosses because we are killing them too fast. Then the casters can't kill bosses with powers and they complain. Once they get buffed, weapon users complain. Do you see how this works?

This means that the Piranha is very, very good on the TS (amongst other classes) - nerf the weight too much and it becomes a Destroyer/Demolisher only weapon.
Other aspects I'm not so sure about - I'm not quite sure why the damage was buffed on it really though...
