its THAT guy wrote...

Here's the thing I don't understand about people crying about this thing's damage.
People, what's wrong with this weapon having the highest dps in the game??? SO WHAT??
There's bound to always be ONE weapon that takes the spot, maybe before it was the claymore, or the harrier. Now it's the piranha. So friggen WHAT? It's a DECENT weapon, not too overpowered with its wide pellet spread, and definetly not in the weak-sauce category like so many other weapons are in this game. Now, you want to go and take this awesomesauce weapon, and turn it into the next falcon? Da fuq is wrong with you people? Dear God, next you're all gonna want to nerf the Typhoon 'cuz its got insane firepower, or the claymore since it does SOOOOOO much damage, so we can all be running around with friggen eagles. Maybe THAT will make you damn nerfers happy. Damn....

Thank you.

I never said it should be balanced around me. But it should be balanced so that one weapon does not make the entire game EZ mode for everyone. The Krysae was the last weapon that was like that and the Piranha is the new one.

The Krysae pre nerfs >>>>> Piranha of now.  Try mauling a Banshee with that shotgun 30 meters away

I'll see what I can do.

Take the Piranha on a caster. A human adept. Then get me a 75 shotgun kill medal on platinum.

Ok, is it ok if I do it with a class that has accuracy boosts?

How about looking at it the other way, try using the Piranha with a class that can't spec it to increase accuracy, dmg, rate of fire, etc....like a Vanguard.  See how overpowering it's going to be for you when you're up close and personal to something that can IK you.

Now the Krysae?  Sure, the GI can make this mini rocket into a death machine from afar.  But the other classes outside the Infiltrator could still use it and kill a Phantom with 3 shots on Gold.  Probably why it got the needed balance change....that and a ridiculous hitbox.

Quit trying to compare these two guns as the same because they're not.

I switched to it from Talon on my Batarian soldier build and I must say that in my case the Piranha completely outclasses the Talon or every other caster oriented shotgun (Wraith being the first example coming to my mind) in almost every aspect.

I don't have any accuracy bonus other than smart choke, and even with that I can shoot enemies at a reasonable distance. The thing completely melt bosses: as they are large I'm pretty much guaranteed to land all the pellets on them if I shoot from about mid range, which is the preffered range on a BS anyway to spam ballistic blades. On smaller mobs it's of course harder to land all pellets on one guy, however the ROF more than compensates for that and the big spread can actually become an advantage, helping killing several mobs at once extremely fast.

My build used to have a weakness in that it couldn't kill bosses very fast. I could have used the harrier to compensate that before at the cost of a bigger cooldown for ballistic blades. Now the piranha offers me both extremely high firepower and very low cooldowns.

Just wanted to say that this weapon is not only excellent on classes like Destroyer or GI. It is now by far the absolute best weapon of choice for any shotgun using caster build. And it's not even that hard to get.

Try Quarian Female Engineer, or Asari Justicar. Forget Vangards, or shadows.

For grins I started looking around for an alternate weapon to use on my piranha toting geth infiltrator, and decided on the hurricane I unlocked during that last event. I hadn't really used it since it weighs a lot more than my hornet, and ULM is broken. On my GI a level 1 hurricane gives me 5% better cooldowns than a level 10 piranha. With about the same mods (both get the armor piercing mod, but I use a heatsink on the hurricane and a smart choke on the piranha), ammo, and gear, it is slightly weaker against bosses, but still chews through them in a hurry. It absolutely shreds lower level enemies though, and from considerably greater distances. Is anybody screaming to nerf the hurricane?

Random match. Both myself and Diablerist had the Piranha. Soldier was Batarian and I think Vanguard was either novaguard or smashguard. No accuracy, dmg, rate of fire bonuses and whatnot, except a smart choke and shredder or extended barrel (can't really remember).

Random or not, I feel it's worth mentioning the vanguard didn't seem to make it out alive. Any particular reason he didin't extract?

The pirahnna should stay the same weight, and should keep it's shot damage and shot accuracy. It doesn't one hit kill anything and unloading a full clip (8 shots) doesn't guarantee a kill. Any nerfing would ruin the gun. Not to mention it has a very short effective range.

The weapon currently is equivalent to a Scimitar with twice the damage and 50% higher ROF. If you did that to the Scimitar, everyone would think you were off your freaking rocker. It's just not balanced.

It's not twice the damage. The rate of fire looks to be about 10% better than the scimitar. I tried the Scimitar and think it serves the purpose better for me, I can still spam powers with the Scimitar which I can't do with the Pirahnna. But forget you heard that from me, because then a few of you yokles will want to nerf the Scimitar... when the Scimitar, Disciple and Talon should all get a little bit of a boost.

The problem that you and everyone else doesn't seem to understand or want to recognize is that it is going to be used by classes that can exploit it's strengths.

All infiltrators will use it over the Claymore because it provides more damage and more utility, most of all the GI.

Turians will use it, both soldier and sentinel because of racial boosts.

Human Soldiers will use it because it is similar to the claymore in damage and with AR they will get 16 shots with no reload.

Destroyers will use it because it kills on that class.

So yeah, it may not be as OP on a few caster classes. I am sure that with everyone using it, it won't get nerfed like the last gun everyone was using.....

I'm not seeing how a scoreboard from a random match says anything about a weapon's relative power.

What you seem to missing is that your below-average to average player will not be able to do nearly as well with the Piranha as they could with the Krysae.  The Piranha requires more skill to land shots and is inherently more risky as a close-range weapon.  As such, it also requires skill in evading enemy fire.  With the Krysae, you could simply camp out and hit anything you wanted to across the map.

this sum it up very well
a its shot gun
b you are using it  by you pics on a geth that has  increased rate of fire talent and damage evolution that can be  used to in crease the rof and damage  and clip

so again  trying to get it nerfed because you think its iwin button is wrong

and i can go in to c if you dont agree with real life

C:  shotguns are extremely damaging,  but can also be semi automatic and automatic as well  and still be able to put down person  depending on the ammo and skill of the person that knows how to use it regardless of design the way of use  its  matter of  knowing what works with your skill level of that gun handling.

Threads like this aren't going to get the Piranha nerfed. Everyone using it all time will.

Exactly.

BioWare didn't nerf Infiltrators because of the threads here, they nerfed Infiltrators because more than a third of all Gold players were Infiltrators. Everyone here should come to know why it needs to be and why it will be nerfed, but whining about it won't help: the data will show that it is just too damn powerful.

Respectfully, we have the exact data. The Piranha is just over twice the damage per shot (709.6 versus 353.6) and has a fire rate exactly 50% higher (150 versus 100). The weight of the Piranha is 0.9 while the weight of the Scimitar is 0.7.

Additionally, there are no "nerfers". There are balancers and anti-balancers, and the balancers are the ones asking for buffs to the underpowered Scimitar and Disciple. The anti-balancers complain about every thread that shows up which says any weapon is out of balance, either low ("u just not not how to use it") or high ("nerf all the funs!").

Well... technically you could "nerf" the Piranna although it's accuracy would be equal to the Eviscerator (with Choke) as a trade off to lower RoF or damage in junction to it already being a CQC/Reeger-range weapon. I might not mind

Edit: For a weight gain trade off would either be a damage increase (to fit it's weight) or a mass accuracy gain or greatly reduced recoil. There's no such thing as "nerfing" or "buffing" only improvements or balancing/evening out the playing field

You'd be surprised what these pizza faced freaks have to offer in terms of their reasoning. They REALLY remind me of failed pvpers.
