I've been trying to figure out what plugin for 3DSMax was actually used by Bioware, as maybe it could give us some insight into getting a working exporter built... Hell, depending on availability and cost, as well as it's other uses, there may be those of us here who do some work within the 3D graphic community who might want to purchase a license to whatever it is.
All the wiki says about the tools used by BioWare is as follows:
"BioWare generated these XML files using 3DSMax plugins that have some legal encumberances preventing their distribution, but the specifications for .mmh.xml will be released and it is hoped that converters will be able to be written for other file formats."
