I've had this happen several times across multiple playthroughs and
seem to get different results each and every time I do the fade
sequence in the circle of mages quest. The only constant has been that
when playing as a mage, lyrium veins are ALWAYS accessable. I've done
this portion of the game as a mage, a warrior, and rogue, several times
with rogues and warriors, but only once as a mage. In some playthroughs
the rogue and warrior can use lyrium veins so long as they are in a
shapesifted form, but in others they are unusable regardless of what
I do. I've had both results on both hard and nightmare and can't figure
out what is actually SUPPOSED to be happening.

p.s. AM currently going through the fade as my new female noble rogue archer, she can use lyrium veins in shapeshifted form. Playing on nightmare.
