I usually name my (important) characters after fictional characters that I feel are somewhat spiritually akin. Sideline characters I usually name after what I can think of first. Like my flaming Vorcha who is called Torcha.

Fury: River (No power in the 'verse can stop me.)

 Most of mine are named alliteratively with common names, so I have Kevin the Krogan sentinel and Vick the Vorcha etc. There are a few deviations, my salarian engineer is all yellow and red so he became Ronald McDonald. 

A friend of mine has his geth engineer as spastic hawk because apparently the geth looks a bit like a bird to him and his melee based geth infiltrator (back when that was useful) was called Meltman due to the melting effect of the melee.

I tend to name mine A,B,C,D etc etc it really should show names above your character for the awesomeness for some reason you can't name a character T it's a illegal character according to the name acceptor.

N7 Shadow- Trini (Trainee) Original Yellow Power Ranger
N7 Slayer- Terry McGinis (Batman Beyond) I didn't know he had a sword; his picture was deceiving.
Krogan Sent.- American Grade. He's tough.
Turian Sent.- Cat Daddy Drago. He looks like a cat and a dragon.
N7 Destroyer- One-One-Seven. Hail to the Chief, baby!
Geth- Een. It means one, as Legion means many.

Heh I did the same thing.
Right now I have star wars names for all my toons.

I named my Slayer Kenny because i expected to die a lot, leaving my 3 companions to resolve things.
I still haven't tried him out though.

I just number mine when I forget what number I'm on I just go to the next even hundred. Shadow was first new character in awhile and she's 800 so I've forgotten a few times lol

The shadow has an exotic foreign accent, so of course I had to name her after one of the Avengers.

That's right, she's called Emma, after Emma Peel of the Avengers. Why, is there some other group called the Avengers out there?

I usually give my character's codenames like Zero or Eezo.

My human characters have 'normal' names i pretty much think on the spot, some fancier than others, and of mixed nationality. The only exception is my N7 Shadow, who is just 'Dawn'.

I always put 'vas' this and 'vas' that in Quarian names. There is little space.

My two Geth are Guild (engi) and Horde (infi)

My Krogan Soldier is Urdnot Shepard

I really do not care about the name as it it never refereenced anywhere else in the game. All mine are 1 character so that i can move onto more inportant things....like colors

My Geth are Johnny 5 (Eng) and HAL... My humans all have normal human names... Quarians have all have the 'Vas' name in there... Krogen are Skippy and Slappy, and both pink and purple as per my 5yo daughters request...

I've been naming my characters after characters from the original Dragonlance trilogy as of late. For example, my Krogan Sentinel is Caramon.
