I name my humans after science-fiction authors (Asimov, Willis, Clarke, Bujold, etc.).

I named my Orginal Humans after Animals, Lion, Papa Bear, Turtle, My Engineer Monkey...when I get all the N7s and the Last Phonixe I am missing I will probably follow suit with them.

Paladin: Mars
Phoenix Adept: Hephaestus
Turian Sentinel: Phil (he was 3 days away from retirement from Citadel Security when the Reapers hit, dammit.)
Geth Engineer: Platform J3C99
Geth Infiltrator: Platforn T7N56

I name mine single letters, except for my Geth who are always binary code. I hate having to name a character every time I make one, takes too long.

I pick random last names for my humans, and for the other species I mix and match names of existing characters to keep them "in lore".

My geth I name MPU I-2141av1 and stuff like that, MPU stands for mobile platform unit and "I" stands for Infiltrator.

I like to keep characters name "in lore", but I tend to be a little bit "creative".

For example, all my Human Soldiers have movie cliché names: Ramirez, Rodriguez, O'Connor ecc, while the N7 use appropriate names taken from other franchises.

N7 Demolisher: Rain, Michelle Rodriguez's character from Resident Evil.
N7 Fury: Lilith, from Borderlands' own "witch".
