No fan of the locust, but I always equip my Fury with the hornet and do respectably well on platinum. I don't have the Hurricane yet but judging by the amount I see it, I'll probably switch to that if I (ever) get it. I like the SMGs in general, just wish there was bit more variety in them.

It doesn't feel like the gun that killed two presidents. It did in ME2, but not in ME3.

They died laughing at the assassin.

I'm going to try the locust on the destroyer with the new smg mods.
Bronze game. See if I can clear glacier with it in under 2 hours.

I like the locust on an engineer just to polish of the last few health bars after using powers or just cleaning up. The accuracy is good enough to dial in several consecutive headshots from distance in short order.

I see you're an optimist then. :) Good luck, and don't forget to post results.

Figured id come in and add my voice, loved the locust in me2 it was my baby, was super psyched when i first got it in mp! Then i tried it out....

It really needs some serious loving! Also something to make it stand out from the rest, afterall the gpsmg has lightweight/good accuracy/ammo clip size covered. Give me a reason to use this gun bioware, cos i really want to!

It needs a serious damage buff. At least add 30% to the base damage I'd say.

30% would only put it on par with the Tempest. The low rate of fire and small clip would still make it suck.

The weapons are categorized as *this upgrades that*

Ultra rare>Rare>Uncommon>Common is the structure.

UR and R sometimes contest each other but they are both always superior to uncommon and common.

Gold and Plat are balanced around the stronger guns. If you want to use an uncommon, you are welcome to use it in silver and bronze where any gun works fine

Could you quote where in the game that is stated?
I've only seen texts like that in the ME2 weapon discriptions and they didn't really even upgrade the weapons.

it mentions this in some guns weapons description. like the eagle upgrades the phalanix and the paladin upgrades the carnifax

Most presidents are pretty old and have weak heart,so they could die,if they are threaten with waterguns.

I love the Locust. OK it needs to be a X with barrel and damage mod but it more than holds its own on on Silver. Try it on Engineers or Adepts, it barely touches cooldown times. Not every weapon is meant to be used as a cannon.

I agree with that last part. But the thing is: The Tempest does hold its own on Silver. The Locust barely does. And they weight the same, if I remember correctly. And they are both uncommon

The Tempest is one of my favorite weapons, I use it a lot on both engineers and adepts. But the gap between them is terrible.

You're right of course, but now we get to playing style and personal preference.  I like to consistently keep my enemies at arms length so the Tempest isn't going to cut it at long range with a sustained period of complimentary fire.

The Locust isn't the heaviest hitter, but it brings variety to the pack and that's more important than anything else IMHO.

The Locust should be something like today's MP7: Decently rapid fire, accurate, deadly at close to mid-range (as defined by this game, not mid-range RL), good against armour compared to pistol-round SMGs, but limited magazine (950 rpm, 20 bullets, do the math...). Presumably, the rapid fire would strip away shields away quite efficiently, creating a highly effective weapons against low to mid-tier enemies, and a decent ones against heavily-aroured ones (bosses), but requiring careful bullet management like the Harrier.

Just give it the same damage per shot as the Tempest. That way, Tempest is more shots per clip and slightly higher ROF but low accuracy. Locust is fewer shots per clip and slightly lower ROF but high accuracy.

I am no fan of bumping my own threads, but I think we aren't done with this issue yet. So...

I wonder if this could truly work. I don't know about numbers, or stats. I now that the stat bars we get in game are a poor way of telling about a weapon's damage. But I think that doing the same damage as the Tempest could be... interesting.

I kinda wish it did a bit more than it, though, considering how awesome it used to be. But at this point, any buff would be welcome.

I just hope they don't forget about this weapon.

A hell of accuracy but none of damage. That's what i can say about many guns now. But locust is truly zeroed. I didn't se anyone with this gun since the first DLC released. Except times i'm used to running with it against geth. So, yes, we need a damage/penetration buff for locust.

Giving it the same damage as the tempest with its current rof and accuracy would make it somewhat wimpy in terms of damage, but an ok headshot-machine. A decent weapon choice if you have the aim for it, but not an automatic choice for everyone.

The locust was one of my favorites in ME2, just like the incisor...too bad they got the shaft

What could make it better:

-Give the gun the same damage as the tempest
-and a built in scope like the sniper rifles
-or a built in supressor that prevents the enemy from knowing your location when firing at them

It was the best automatic weapon that wasn't an assault rifle.

Basically, it was a fairly powerful, accurate assault rifle for all the classes that couldn't use assault rifles.

you could peel off enemy shields from a distance and it was the best smg to make headshots with ... it was great because the damage was correct.

To be honest, I dislike the sound of the Loucst in ME3. It gets old really, really fast. It's too high-pitched, and that gets on my nerves.

The Hornet's noise is a bit deeper. I actually love it, it sounds like a mechanical insect of some kind. :D

Aesthetically, though, the Locust wins for me. Specially with a barrel mod, it looks amazing. If ULM worked properly and I could carry around a black Hornet, however...

No I like the locus, perfectly balanced.

It's the only gun that can simulate being a replica gun.

You're so funny guys. Locust has left the same damage as it has at me2. But enemys have become stronger. That's it. So qqing about "give us back me2 locust" is worst that you can ever do.
I think we need to recalculate actual dps for all guns in comparing tiers.
ie, if i can do effective on the platinum with my eviscerator so it good enough for platinum and can be an ethalon.
So, eviscerator's dps is 516. And seems like it's enough. Locust rof is 550 that means 9 shot per second. And that means 57 damage per bullet.

That buff will make locust at least handy against weak enemy on silver and gold difficulty.
