It could use a small damage buff.

I love Avenger, only thing it lacks is damage. But because of that I won't be using it on my Soldier in higher difficulties. But it's a nice weapon for power users. I wish they would buff that gun too.

Very light though :innocent:

@OP, I hope they crazy buff the locust, because as it is, I don't even like using it on BRONZE!

And to everyone saying that rare and n7 rarity weapons are always better, are you playing the same game? The GPR is almost as weak as the locust right now

The thing about the Geth Pulse Rifle is that you can hold the fire for very long, because it has a big clip. It still takes forever to kills things with it alone, and it's a bit too heavy for caster classes. But it's not as weak as the Locust. I use the GPR on a geth engineer and I have lots of fun with it. Just use overload, stunlock the enemies, and then you can headshot easily.

But yeah, a little boost wouldn't hurt.

And the Particle Rifle? Thats a new n7 gun, and it is so bad that to get it to semi-decent damage, you have to sit out in the open for like 4-5 seconds, getting filled with bullets!

If you can survive that, the weapon is actually amazing. It's hard to use, but rewarding. The Locust is simply hard to use. There is no reward.

I can never get the GPR to do much, and everyone I have played with that used it did so poorly, but maybe it has a niche that I have yet to discover. But when using the particle rifle, the fact that you have to survive firing it pretty much sums up why you will never see me using it above bronze, and the occasional silver match. Buff it to please. And the GPR. And the Wraith. And....buff it all! BUFF ALL THE THINGS!!!!!!!

Plenty of uncommons are Gold viable

Viper
Mattock
Raptor
Phaeston
Vindicator
Phalanx
Tempest

Those are all gold viable. The Incisor and Locust both aren't and for different reasons.

Yes, very light damage buff... VERY light.

Plenty of Uncommons work on Gold. Being an Uncommon isn't an excuse to be crap.

I agree entirely with this. The more weapon choices being viable the better. Just like ultra rares needn't outshine every gold weapon, every gold weapon needn't outshine every silver etc.

I struggle to understand why they made this gun so pathetic in this game when many of the other carryovers from ME2 are still at least average to very good

Plus one for buffing the Locust, and several other uncommon weapons. I like the idea that you can find niches for weapons across difficulties. The Locust is one of those weapons, along with the Avenger and a few others, that are kind of fun to use, but severely lacking in effectiveness beyond Bronze. (Or even on Bronze, for that matter, compared to other things you could equip.)

I like the idea of some people in here of having a slightly smaller clip, and boosting damage per-shot by a good chunk. It would definitely feel unique. Right now it just feels like someone made a cheap knockoff of a Hornet using low-quality parts.

I find the Locust is a great weapon on big maps to paint targets with Ammo Mods. It's one of the most accurate autofire weapons in the game and allows 200% cooldown on pretty much every class without having to spec for weapon weight. You can even use it with a Pistol or light AR/Shotgun and keep a good cooldown.

On a big map you can paint an enemy with Warp, Fire or Disruptor Ammo before they get in range of your biotics/tech abilities or during a cooldown and then detonate as soon as they get in range of your biotics or as soon as your cooldown is finished.

Works fine on Gold as long as you're working in a good team as a long range biotic/tech self detonator, or just lighting up as many targets for another tech or biotic to detonate.

The gun is good on a power class or as a backup I have done well with it. Its small clip is good because you are not out in the open to be shot at and the reload is fast along with it's firing. Added with its how pinpoint it is make it the perfect hit and run gun.

I would just like to see the damage upped enough to make it a viable weapon to bring, since we won't always be hold the headshots with the gun (which takes quite a bit to bring anyone down). As is, the handling is great, but I want it to live up to that name in ME2.

Lol light Damage buff, kidding right? Its needs a huge damage buff, smallest Shots per clip, Slowest RoF and it beats out the Shuriken in Damage per shot by what like 2 points? Which is still only like 48 a shot. Locust should be doing around if not higher damage than the Hornet which does like 78 a shot. I hate how it went from the best SMG in ME2 to one of the worst in ME3

If there's ever a band of presidents threatening galactic peace, I'll bring the Locust.
Otherwise, OP is right.

This gun was amazing in ME2. Back when you could actually see the bullets. ME2 had the great version of many guns in this game...
Also, too bad the tempest isn't as good as it was in ME2.

I actually used it for awhile as an "Ammo power applier." Then I got a Hurricane.

But yeah, it's an absolutely horrible weapon. 20 shots against a low level mook on Gold does about 2 health bars worth of damage.

Clearly, however, this weapon needs no attention. It's far more important to just nerf something that's good rather than do something about terrible, ****ty weapons (which is approximately 90% of the entire arsenal in MP.)

On a turian soldier with thermal clip and heatsink, it's decent on silver. But I'd go with the tempest with the aforementioned setup. It's true that this weapon is disappointing compared to its ME2 variant. It's the case for the Vindicator as well.

I think they should make the damage at least as high as the hurricane.

I guess the point of the Locust's current incarnation is being a weapon for those who are insanely good at headshots.

It doesn't feel like the gun that killed two presidents. It did in ME2, but not in ME3.

You could kill a Reaper with 30 shots from a Mattock in ME2.

Weapons were stronger and everyone, you and your team included were weaker.

Locust is an uncommon, so it belongs with the silver and bronze players.

Gold and ultra rare weapons are the only ones that really matter to min maxers.

Uncommon and common weapons will do just fine in lower difficulty brackets

And yet the Mantis X when properly modded can do slightly more damage than an un-modded Widow X

I've gotten the 1st/2nd spot in more that one Gold game when using the Mantis.

Make love to me OP.

All creepiness aside, I LOVE THIS.

Locust was my go to Vabguard weapon in ME2 besides the GPS or Mattock.
