It's because nerfers make posts a bit too much, frankly. They're poking a bunch of frustrated people. Some to be malicious, I dare say.

The problem with making constructive responses is they don't get read, or responded to more oft than not. The nerf seeker usually doesn't care what's said, either. So what good is being thoughtful over a long, detailed post when it's just going to get overlooked? I've wasted my breath on both sides of the fence plenty of times in the past, though not necessarily on this board.

People calling for nerfs making long drawn out posts probably don't get treated much better. People see "balance" or "nerf" and know someone wants something kicked in the pills so it's not useful anymore. they don't need to read to know that.
They rightfully get upset. Especially over unwarranted nerf cries. At least unwarranted in their opinion.

Nerfers tend to have problems actually balancing things. Often enough they'll go too far with their ideas, or their ideas are shoddy at best. They just want what ever they think is OP kicked into a bloody heap.

It's strange how your posts implies those nerfers actually possess some kind of power that will automatically translate their opinion into a nerf from Bioware. An opinion remains an opinion. What makes it relevant or not is the amount of valid data and arguments brought to support it and the validity of the counter arguments.

The people you and others call "Nerfers" are in my opinion a large variety of people with sometimes very different opinions and motivations. Some of them are indeed clueless about balance and maybe really cry about getting outscored. Some of them just care about the game balance and want some things to be nerfed, others to be buffed. Sometimes they are very knowledgable and make a good point, sometimes not.

This doesn't change the fact that the anti nerfer hysteria is counter productive for its very purpose of wanting a supposed "nerfing spree" to stop. It's everyone's responsibility to behave like adults on these forums and be constructive no matter the OP's opinion.

BTW there's no wonder as to why constructive comments are almost not read, it's understandable with so many spamming going on everywhere. I doubt the comment I actually made 2 posts ago about the slashes is going to be read and reacted to for that matter.

Oh for the love of...

Seriously, this overpowered stuff is getting so old. At one point, it used to be funny how much complaining people did over stuff in a video game. Like explosions too powerful, this gun does too much, etc. and granted, some of it was actually legit. I get that. However, now it is just pathetic. Not calling thread starter pathetic, but the general population of this board. If anything ever outscores them, or has an easier time defeating any enemy than they do, it's automatically overpowered and needs a nerf. Did you ever think some players might enjoy using this stuff? Kyrase was overpowered, Geth were way too easy to farm, Sabotage was way too good. These were legit claims. Nearly everything else has me scratching my head in a corner wondering how people come up with this stuff.

The slashes are powerful, but risky. They are designed for high risk, high reward. If I do a slash, chances are the wrong moment happened and I drop to the floor. If I did it at the right moment, I just did a truck-ton of damage against a group and spawned another five enemies ready to flank me. I am not trying to be mean or anything, but just enjoy the game. Have fun. If you don't like something, don't use it. Host lobbies were only people not using it can play. Unless something is severely overpowered to the point that even on Platinum with no mods and such can completely humiliate bosses with no help required, there is no reason to complain. Again, stuff like Sabotage and Kyrase had this power, and it was a good, legit nerf. Stuff like the slashes are powerful, but not without risk attached to them.

If you're using Biotic slash a lot as a Slayer, you're playing the Slayer wrong.

Slayers and Shadows are so weak on their own that on gold/plat they'll go down quickly trying to do either of their slashes...

UNLESS...they use their slashes through walls. That's the only time I ever use the power on my Slayer. Otherwise, I just keep tele-dodging, using phase disruptor, and charging.

The only time that either slash power seems over powered is FBWGG/P. On any other map, it's not even half as effective.

Same as your posts implies that well constructed replies prevent nerfings. They don't even prevent people wanting things nerfed, frankly.

It doesn't matter in the end since it's up to Bioware. They likely get data elsewhere as well as boards.

It's really really -really- rare when a nerfer wants to give -anything- back, aka Buff something in return. The vast majority simply want something taken away. That'd be another thing people get mad over.

Like I said, if people stopped yammering about wanting nerfs, the hysteria would decline as people can relax without someone wanting sometihng nerfed.

The hysteria might be counterproductive, but it's almost never unprovoked at the same time.

Can I please use characters and weapons without them being nerfed to the point where they're worthless? Thanks.

Well you can't indeed prevent anyone from wanting something nerfed. But if someone is actually wrong about wanting to nerf something, explaining why he or she is would be certainly more effective to convince someone reading the thread than plenty of posts that amount to "no", "STFU" or "these damn nerfers better shut up" which are not contributing to the discussion and are also very often a plain infringement to site rules.

You're right though, bioware doesn't only rely on BSN feedback and also looks at their own data to make decisions. So why the hell is there any need to freak out each time someone wants something to be nerfed? Its their right to discuss balance if they want to. As you said bioware makes decisions in the end so what happens is up to them and I think everyone will agree that they the best placed to decide how to balance their game in the end.

And by the way you're just plain wrong and over-generalizing by saying that the majority of the so-called "nerfers" want only nerf. Some people may want a thing to be nerfed, it doesn't mean they don't want other things to be buffed as well. I can't think of anyone not wanting an Incisor or Locust buff for example.

Here is a proof that people advocating for some nerfs are far from only asking for nerfs (in here there are actually more buffs than nerfs suggested) and that discussing game balance constructively is possible if everyone is willing to. If this still doesn't convince you that there is no unified group of evil nerfers who absolutely want to ruin the game, I think there is a need to clarify once and for all to who the term "nerfers" is really referring to....

The biotic slash seems like xCerb smash, but with more range, less armour damage, and longer execution time.
The electric version just feels like the same thing again but re-classified as a tech power.

Overpowered? No.
Idiots constantly spamming it, obscuring my view, constant stupid noise, attacking when there's clearly nothing there?
Yes.

Gunna have to say hell no OP, Slash powers have rediculously long cast animations with no DR or invulnerability, making it very ineffective out in the open which becomes unbelievably clear on Gold and Platinum. Crying about its spamability doesn't help anyones case either as with a low CD you can spam just about anything, while not as effetive with other powers I suggest to go watch the video of the Krosents doing Gold doing nothing but denonating Tech Armor, OP? Not really. That being said, Thread/

It's underpowered. The animation takes too long, during which you have no damage reduction.

What's especially sad is that the OP goes out of his way to explain why he thinks it might be overpowered and then ask others about their opinion viewpoint and more than half the posts are idiots spamming no or insults.

If you don't have the will or capacity to actually come up with a counterpoint, go spam on /b/.

Why's there need to freak out and want something nerfed? You can't pretend every nerf cry on this board is justified, and not made from people freaking out.

It's the right of people to say no to nerfs just as much as it is if people want something discussed. People don't like nerfs, and they're free to say so, even if they might be wrong in the process.

I'm not gunna deny there's some worthwhile nerf cries, and some people actually wanting to balance things but most accusations of being overpowered are just made from slapped egos wanting to see other people dragged down to their perceived levels, and sought without loooking at the big picture.

I really think you're overdoing it in thinking I think there's some evil nerf group. There isn't. Just individual evil nerfers reacting to something they think is overpowered.

Am I generalizing when I say people only want a nerf? You'd be surprised at the minority of nerfers that want to balance things. How many people ask for something to be toned down, and only that? I'd wager that there's far more suggestions that something be nerfed with nothing given back over over people who actually look at the big picture.

Most nerfers simply attack an item.

They may want some things buffed, but it's irrelevant when they don't mention it in the same thread, frankly, and just focus on what they want taken away. Not everyone's going to read every post they've ever made to see what their views are.

It's a two way street, the "anti-nerfing hysteria" and the people who want nerfs, and frankly it's one side that fuels the other. Without rampant nerf cries, there'd be less "anti-nerfer hysteria."

You don't get to get your cake, and have it to, wanting to nerf things (be it in a refined manner, or not) without people saying no in what ever method they feel is appropriate.

tl;dr Bluntly you cannot expect to take things from people without bad reprocussions, and poor reception. My time on this board shows you're lucky to give people things without bad reprocussions, and poor reception.

The animation is what lessens it power drastically to fair levels. the user is vulnerable for about 0.75 seconds before you put your power down, when being fired upon by a heavy unit or in CQB with a phantom, it's pretty much suicide. Compared to shockwave, which does half the damage instantly.

Slayers/Shadows and Cerberus Adepts/Vanguards are high-risk and high reward characters. There powers are fine where they are.
