I bought DAO on steam and have since uninstalled and reinstalled through Origin, I'm getting the same error message (in the title) both times. Googling it looks like there were some nvidia driver issues, but that was quite a few driver versions ago, do I really need to roll back to a VERY old GPU driver to play this game.
Currently using 301.42 on a GTX 560

a) Try the v304.48 beta driver. That's what I'm running with no issues.
Dump the Steam version and get the EA; Origin store digital download. No additional charge, you just need your current install CD-Key.

No, probably not. You may want to do a clean uninstall/reinstall of your Nvidia drivers (including Physx) in safe mode. It's possible that the old driver is corrupted and not being fixed by reapplying it. There's a link to a "how to" in my sig below.
