Tough because what sucks on one class may be great for another. (Eagle is pretty much vilified here, yet I find it tremendously useful on my Shadow.)

Particle Rifle/Collector Assault Rifle (tried it at my buddy's)----these two especially define worthless.

The fact that the Particle Rifle shoots rainbows is really fitting, it should be shaped like a Unicorn, though.

My thoughts on the weapons for the moment (still haven't got the Particle rifle):

Best:
1. Black Widow
2. Widow
3. Claymore
4. Typhoon
5. Cerberus Harrier

Worst:
1. Striker
2. Katana
3. All SMGs (minus Hurricane and Hornet)
4. All pistols (minus Arc, Paladin and Carnifex)
5. Acolyte (if one could use it like the Arc Pistol, it would have been good)

Edit: I just realized that the Acolyte is of course a pistol too. But it's just so bad that it deserves to be mentioned on its own.

Also I feel the Javelin has a bad rap, maybe it isn't great but it's better than the Widow, which no one lists as a bottom 5. I suppose it's the UR status that knocks it down.

ok, I like: Harrier, Mattock, Arc Pistol, Indra and Piranha. The Scorpion is entertaining as hell so honorary mention ;-)

Hate: Javelin, Falcon, Revenant, Striker and Krysae.

Everything else is either meh or I didn't try them yet.

 my best and worse might be a little different then most.

Best:
1) Mattock - through all the changes to the game i still find enjoyment out of this weapon
2) Carnifex - a handy texes six-shooter of a pistol, accurate and powerful in addition to light weight
3) Kishock - a chargable sniper that does as much damage as a widow, plus bleed damage, and flying bodies
4) Revenate - on a heavier class, this weapon is beastly
5) N7 Eagle - take the IRL DEagle and a Glock18 and merge them together... thats what this is

Honorable mentions: Mantis (a stock gun that still beats half of the SR's out there), Talon (think about having a pistol that shoots 410 guage, yeah...), Scorpion (was my defult pistol in SP, great for taking down baddies fast)

Best in class:
SR: Kishock - an underused weapon that can really work well in the hands of an expert
AR: Mattock - Semi-auto but with a quick trigger finger you can simulate auto fire if need be, plus DMG and ACR
SMG: Tempest - Fantastic weapon, ROF and DMG makes for a great DOT, plus its light weight
SG: Graal - able to be charged and a nice tight spread, uncharged it still is pretty useful in CQC
Pistol: Carnifex  - a great weapon for power users.

Worst:
1) Insisor - WTF? if i wanted a burst fire weapon, i would get a vindicator
2) Vindicator - seriously, i don't want burst fire, and poor damage
3) Hornet - see above for reasons i hate this gun
4) any Geth weapon - before the nerfing, they would have been in the top 10
5) Kyerse -  would have been top 5 if it wasn't for thoughs meddling nerfers!

So yeah you can probably tell i like pray and spray guns and things that go boom and i dont like any gun i have to charge or give my hand muscle strain to use.

I'll join the polling for this:

Top 5:
1. Claymore (Still love being the infilitrator that can bring down the Atlas in under 20 seconds and the gun that made me practice reload cancelling)
2. Harrier (My all-rounder weapon)
3. Valiant (Most user friendly sniper out there)
4. Hurricane (Heat sink and Extended Mag is just a stream of death)
5. Phalanx (An odd choice, I know, but for cooldown, fire-rate, firepower, it is magnificant)

Bottom 5:
1. Geth Pulse Rifle (I still think that it needs help in the damage department, being exposed out of cover just to do enough damage isn't worth it)
2. Locust (Needs a lot of headshots to be damaging, but under fire, it is just not going to cut it)
3. Incisor (It needs to have a reduced recoil and zoom, it's just not a viable choice for characters with heads)
4. Crusader (Lugging around a big brick just doesn't work well when it wants to be a sniper as well)
5. Eagle (While better than the Predator, it doesn't feel satisfying and can be erratic when not handled properly)

That's a difficult question to answer. You have the question of versatility versus niche, classes' abilities to use the weapons and their respective strengths, the accessibility of weapons and weapon types to classes and their abilities to play to weapon strengths...projectile weapons on host versus off-host...the list goes on. So, I'll qualify myself. Of the weapons I have,

Best
1. Carnifex.It's effective, accurate, versatile, relatively easy to max, and any class can use it to maximum effect.
2. Paladin. Pistol ULM negates the sole drawback of this weapon. This would be #1 but for its ultra-rarity.
3. Piranha. Lightweight, versatile, requires a good amount of know-how to get the best use of it, effective on any class, and absolutely devastating in the hands of soldiers.
4. Acolyte. Adepts, vanguards, and sentinels that aren't turians or paladins are notoriously weak against shields. The acolyte shores up that weakness perfectly while maintaining 200% CDR even on a character with zero points in their class passive. The only real drawback to this weapon is you can't equip a carnifex with it.
5. Black widow. Semi-auto, extremely high damage, and versatile.

Worst
1. Incisor. Way too much recoil for what it does, and is supposed to do.
2. Graal. This would be in the top five but for the fact you must host to use it at all.
3. Kishok. Same limiting factor as the graal, plus the added fun of bullet drop on non-charged shots.
4. Locust. This weapon has no redeeming quality.
5. I'll just use this as a catch-all spot for the noob cannons (krysae, GPS).
