Fitness: Melee damage, Martial Artist,
So why do Martial Artist if you never do heavy melee?
I use heavy melee all the time, but mostly AFTER I have taken down most of the mob first. You actually don't want to kill things in the mob too quickly with normal melee, as the damage reduction seems to drop off if you're not hitting the target (especially if you're not host). If you can kill the last of the mob with a heavy melee, then take on the harder target (a Prime for example), that 75% martial artist bonus turns it into metal shavings within seconds.
I use almost exactly the same build as OP, but if I take a Scorpion (ULM and melee stunner) the Slayer becomes crowd control as well a true vanguard. The build forces you to attack constantly, there is no let up and hardly any downtime in fighting.
You do get A LOT of complaints from team mates though, as you occasionally have to use their kill as a bio charge to get your barriers back and sometimes you just cannot sit on an escort mission and get shot up, you have to charge out before you go down. I guess people don't understand how squishy Slayers are when idle.
On the other hand, you can easily get over 100 kills with this build in every game, so it's not like you're not doing your part for the team as long as you are constantly controlling crowds and bogging them down in close combat.
Best character in the game for me and definitely the most fun to play because of the constant judgement calls you have to make in regards to how to use your barrier and picking your next charge target. Shame about having to always host to use him properly though.
