Even though I like this mutiplayer, I find it to be quite contradictory.

I've been noticing since the addition of executions on gold and platinum that alot of my quick matches are ending up in gold firebase white geth lobbies like 9% more than the 90% before this was implemented. Honestly I think the drastic nerfing of weapons, and the incredibly increasing difficulty of this game is forcing people to play in these types of matches just to earn credits. It's not going to increase variety, strategy, or fun when you are bottlenecked into a few certain tactics.

It's making this game rather virtually impossible to play with randoms. Yes, teamwork prevails everything, but there's no teamwork with randoms. No verbal communication for the most part is the equivalent of everybody doing their own thing.  And don't give me that brain-dead garbage that you should constantly play with people you know, because if that was the case, there shouldn't even be a quick match option.

They want to decrease or completely prevent farming and matches that are generally styled this way, but at the same time they input factors into the game that make people want to do this in the first place. They want to make the game fun and challenging, yet they give the enemies unbalanced swings such as unavoidable insta-kills, otg executions, excessive [entirely excessive] agressiveness, stunlock and pinpoint accuracy that discourages moving or on-the-go type playing styles. It also narrows down to a select few classes that can handle this type of insanity. Do you know why higher leveled players don't use drells, quarian engineers, and other gimped classes? Because they have common sense and aren't going to limit themselves with those characters knowing that they won't get them far. Honestly nowadays, i get very frustrated even during gold matches. I don't know where this "it's too easy" rubbish is coming from. Firebase white or playing with good teams? Because anything and it's mom is easy in white or if you have proper communication while playing with others up to your level.

You do make a very good point OP.
I admit, I have only been farming because Gold has become too difficult, and isn't worth the time investing to get credits when I could just farm and gets credits easier and more quickly. They should really balance the game again, before it becomes unplayable.

Great OP, classic GIF - but...

I can't help but feel it's in relation to our 'failure' at the last player weekend. I expect things to be eased a little should we prevail this weekend, which is likely we will...

If so, then Bioware are being clever, and the debate should be whether they are being too clever for their own good.

Honestly I think the drastic nerfing of weapons

I would agree with the rest of your post, save for one gripe. For weapons, only the Falcon and the Krysae have been majorly nerfed in the past few months, with all other weapons getting buffs (including the entire AR and SMG line). Sure the buffs aren't overly drastic compared to the high-profile nerfs, but they're still buffs nonetheless, with many having benefited (ex. the Arc Pistol, that so many derided as useless, now has able users in Gold from my experience). Also, many abilities and powers have been buffed since then, including Tech Armor, Grenades, etc.

I still do not seriously get how people still think that all we're getting in ME3 MP are buffs. It's become a pet peeve of mine at this point.

Otherwise though, I actually quite agree with the rest of your points.

Well said indeed.

While I do advocate the need for teamwork as that's the only way you're going to get through Gold I also find that when people do this they whine about it being too easy.

Of course it's too easy when you do that! That's the point of teaming up with reliable people!

The point of the lower levels is to find those people you want to build a team with and build one with them before submitting yourself to the insanity of Gold and now Platinum.

I do however agree that due to cheapened enemies it certainly feels like we're being locked into a certain playstyle. In the beginning I would have happily brought anything and everything. Now I wouldn't even touch certain race/classes from the get-go due to the "balance" people cry for. Hell people here have yelled at me to quit doing what I love most, Sniping, because it's no longer viable. Sadly they actually now have a point since everything was "balanced" to hell and back.

I actually can't imagine myself now starting as a new player with no weapons...
I would have to spend timeless hours on bronze and silver with a novaguard or HE till I get some decent weapons and classess to play with.
Then the next easy thing would be to get a salarian engineer and farm my ass on gold geth fbw and get carried, until I can unlock some decent stuff... And then get frustrated of all the nerfings around :D

The only reason why I am happy and enjoy myself with my new N7 Demolisher is the fact that I got the Hareer 2... otherwise I would hate this class :D

"Incredibly increasing difficulty"... can't say I agree at all. If anything, the game is suffering from a power creep that needs to be dealt with. Apart from that I think multiplayer is better than ever. Just moderately nerf a couple of extremely effective setups and buff a whole lot of underwhelming powers and weapons, and it's all good.

I must have missed it when they nerfed the Claymore, Talon, Carnifex, Black Widow, Valiant, Hurricane, Geth Plasma shotgun, Graal, Wraith, Piranha, Typhoon, Saber, Paladin, Viper, Phaeston, Revenent, Scorpion and any of the other common Gold weapons I've forgotton.

Oh, but what have they nerfed? Krysae, Reegar, Minor weight increase of Harrier, Falcon... er that's it (distance penetration on Typhoon does not count simply because 100cm was so mind-numbingly absurd in the first place. It's the same as the Javelin for goodness sake).

OH GOD THE DRASTIC NERFING OF WEAPONS HAS MADE THIS GAME IMPOSSIBLE!

Quarian Engineer is not a "gimped class", it's one of the best classes in the game post June 21.

Though you are right about broken Geth hackers and magnet hand sync kills.

I'm just sick of people complaining it's too easy. Go play platinum all day if that's what you want! MOST people who play are casual gamers - i.e. not the people who do nothing but play XBox all day long - and we don't have our inventories maxed out and weapons at level X. The elitists are ruining it for the majority.

I have noticed this week that a lot of really good players seem to have dropped down to silver which I play the most.

Whether or not it's because they just want to have fun is beside the point and this apparent player migration seems to back the OP's points.

The vast majority of non-FBW Geth Gold PUGs I play are over by wave 6. The attempts to curtail farming have been completely ineffective. Indeed, by buffing the Geth repeatedly while not addressing what makes farming possible (no enemies spawning behind campers) they've made the Geth faction arguably the most formidable (even a great player like xcal thinks Geth are the hardest at this point) while doing nothing to encourage players to learn how to fight them properly.
