Even though I like this mutiplayer, I find it to be quite contradictory.

It seems, to me, as though the ones crying for nerfs are the same ones who will mock and deride people for not having the same skill level as them... and then demand that nerfs be balanced around the assumption that everyone has the same skill level as them.

It's utterly hypocritical, and is, quite frankly, ruining this game. I play, mostly, Silver. Because that's where my skill level is at. Most people play Silver, because that's where their skill level is at. Quite frankly, right now, if I see Geth as the choice of enemy in a lobby, I feel as though there is no choice but to switch to my Destroyer... simply to eliminate the asinine amount of staggers that the Geth do. It's not fun. It's not "strategy". It's just stupid and utterly devoid of fun.

The MP isn't about "fun" anymore. It's about "farming". The people doing it on Platinum and Gold just want to make sure that they're the only ones able to do it, that's all.

In the beginning, the community frequently beat goals easily and by overwhelming numbers. As time has gone by, the number of people playing has decreased and we've been losing more and more.

Really needs to be new, actual content. New classes and objectives spice it up a bit but I'd rather have another game mode or enemy type by now. The grind also puts people off.(though I don't think that'll be changed anytime soon and personally don't have an issue with it)

It'd also be nice if the underperforming classes and weapons were made better as the others get reigned in with nerfs. Not finding any reason to grab a Novaguard with the Slayer here as I'm running around in randoms unless I see a Cerbguard there too.

It's true - about the FQE. For those people who play her and think "I get top score! She's fine now!" you're kidding yourselves.

I, also, get top score with her. However, I never play her on gold. She's not really a "team" player as much as people think. Cryo is not as good as a debuff compared to warp - which primes/detonates for biotic explosions and does massive amount of damage to armor. If I debuff the armor with cryo, sure it's weakened, but without everyone locking on and attacking the debuff is useless. However, even without the debuff of cryo, if everyone is locked on and attacking the same target, the target will still go down easy.

Incinerate is glitched and weak. Apparently it doesn't do 100% against chilled targets. That's the whole reason to play as the quarian female engineer. Incinerate in general is just a weak ability though. Compared to ME2 where incinerate against armor would devastate, it's now just a mild ability to throw out every once and awhile to CC or to do at least a little extra damage against that brute that's charging you. Incinerate needs a buff to the base damage.

The turret is fine now - still a little bit of a glass...gun (not cannon since it's not THAT strong). Relying on the turret is just damn scary though.

I play with her frequently, but there have been many a time when I thought "Dang.. there's not going to be much team synergy if I choose her. I'd be better off with someone who can actually contribute a lot more."
-----

I remember the good 'ol days of watching the leaked beta MP gameplay.. hearing the shuriken and seeing the vanguard charge and shoot with a katana on the mars map. It seemed so simple back then.

I definitely agree. A friend of mine started out as a new player recently and it's been a difficult road for him to unlock items and classes, and while he has a leg up because he is playing with me any my other friends who are capable of carrying him through Gold, he has a very limited class base that he can play with reasonably because many of the weapons he unlocks just cannot compete. He's stuck using a Phoenix Adept and smashing everything to death with little to no imagination while he waits for his weapons to rank up and classes to unlock so he can get a reasonable combination capable of contributing to our group.

It's true that there are players good enough to work around this challenge. My regular group of players could probably do it, but only because we have been playing since launch. This guy is new to the game entirely. Frankly I think if BioWare wants to get rid of farming, they need to re-focus their efforts on things like fixing the bugs that cause Geth Hunters to fire even when stunlocked, frozen, stasised or otherwise incapacitated. Bugs that make Banshees grab players through walls and from 30 feet away, bugs that make Rocket Troopers fire 2-3 times every shot, and re-balance characters like Krogan and Turians so they function more like the Destroyer, unable to be stun-locked to death. A more varied playing field would make for a FAR better experience and much fewer farming runs.

I understand that there are limitations to fixing bugs, and that it takes a long time and a lot of effort to accomplish, but it would at least be nice to have some acknowledgement that there is a problem, and that they are working on A, B and C bugs while X, Y and Z are lower priority.

No, he doesn't. In fact, everything he says couldn't be further from the truth. I win about 80% of my PUGs (no Geth, Fire Base White) - not because I'm so good, in fact, I'm in the middle of the scoreboard most of the time, but because my squadmates work together as a team, are competent and help each other. Sure, mistakes get made from time to time, and the players don't harmonize perfectly, how could they in a PUG, but the competence of the average player is easily good enough for Gold.

Admittedly, I'm playing on a PC, and maybe things are different on consoles, but then... why would they be?

And secondly, there is no excuse whatsoever for grinding in a video game. None. Doesn't matter how sad and empty your life is, and how shallow and boring a person you are, there are like a billion better things you could do with your time.

For those who made the claim that those can't hack Gold don't belong on Gold, tell me why is it I could beat Gold before with a Mantis X/Mattock X loadout, using the pre-buff Quarian Engineer with a decent degree of both difficulty and ease (depending on my team), yet now fight uphill all the way with the new QE, using a Saber/Paladin and Valiant/Widow/BW?

Things have changed, and not in a very practical manner.

I didn't mean to imply you wouldn't notice it being harder; I meant that you should be able to adapt. In fact, it may cause you to have to change your character build, weapons, etc. in order to do so. A large part of what makes a good player good is that ability to find new ways to play that compensate for whatever nerfs are introduced.

I honestly just wish they would bring back headshots on bosses back into the game. It's really the only major nerf that I feel BW should roll back since it hurt the effectiveness of so many weapon based builds (especially the sniper based classes).

His reply doesn't seem to have an eltist tone at all to me. In fact, it's a pretty sensible comment.  The only thing that looks like bragging is "I win 80% of my PUGs", but he attributes his success to the skill and competence of his teammates, not simply his own abilities. In fact, he even outright says that he isn't a superstar and that the average player can complete Gold if they stick together and work as a team, which, in my experience, has been true. It seems like he's simply being labelled as an "elitist" and having his opinion discarded simply because he's adopting a different stance than the OP when the majority of commenters have been agreeing with the OP.

Honestly I think the drastic nerfing of weapons

I would agree with the rest of your post, save for one gripe. For weapons, only the Falcon and the Krysae have been majorly nerfed in the past few months, with all other weapons getting buffs (including the entire AR and SMG line). Sure the buffs aren't overly drastic compared to the high-profile nerfs, but they're still buffs nonetheless, with many having benefited (ex. the Arc Pistol, that so many derided as useless, now has able users in Gold from my experience). Also, many abilities and powers have been buffed since then, including Tech Armor, Grenades, etc.

I still do not seriously get how people still think that all we're getting in ME3 MP are buffs. It's become a pet peeve of mine at this point.

Otherwise though, I actually quite agree with the rest of your points.

and it was not so bad. I used the Falcon after the nerf only, she is amazing and work just fine. I tried the Krysae yesterday, still very effective. It do what she supposed to do: Good at range and can save you easily at close range. What happened is that who use it all the time, felt the impact of the nerf. I wasn't using it for a while, so I couldn't feel the difference, just that she still a good weapon, not useless like most players try to show here.

Anyway, I agree that it's more hard now to do public games, but there's something we need to look at. Most of the good players are now playing platinum most of the time, so we have less chance of getting a good team on gold public matches.

Quoting to echo support for post "nerf" falcon. Primary weapon on my Destroyer with backup Talon or Piranha for the up-close work. Sure, it takes like ten shots to kill a phantom with it, but it also takes ten shots to kill three phantoms at the same time while staggering all of them. Seriously, the Falcon is an absolutely fantastic weapon esp. against cerberus.

I've done a few FBWGG matches and I find cerberus significantly easier and more enjoyable at the moment. If you're getting sick of FBWGG showing up, or you find FBWGG too annoying with stomps and so forth... do cerberus/gold and bring a Falcon to insta-counter the phantoms and it's honestly only incrementally tougher than silver. I'm not saying that to be insulting - I actually like that about it at the moment because I find Reapers and Geth a bit too stressful to be the kind of good clean fun I like.

If you feel compelled to crank out the creds - if that's why you're playing the game, then definitely give Unknown Cerberus Gold a try. I think it's less repetitive, more fun, and just as rewarding. The more people do that, the more diverse the gold-level lobbies become... and then mission accomplished, right?

Give me the link. When my threads move beyond page 2 I stop monitoring them. It may have been locked after I was long gone but it certainly wasn't locked while I was actively posting to it.

I have to chuckle a little over the fact that OptimistMan himself just told you to stop being a tool/mouthpiecefor him. You can't even get support from the guy you're defending.

Edit: Oh and by the way, my earlier threads about missile glitching were my way of agitating the waters a little so that BW would be motivated to fix the glitch. By the timing of it, it apparently it worked. You're welcome.
