So due to loosing all my 360 data I have had to restart ME and am starting with my canon shepard, Now I swtarted with ME2 and as a result romanced Miranda. Then got ME1 re did my canon shepard and missed romance in ME1 and Went back to Mirnada in ME2.

But since ME3 and thinking about it a bit more despite the fact Ash can be a little hostile towards aliens (I dont think its quite fair to call her racist or xenophobic) she has grown on me (despite her constant ****ing in ME3) and now Im at a crossroads as who I want to pursue. I like that Ash and Shepard have that bond of them both being soldiers and understand each other very well but I also like the relationship Miranda and Shep have its diffrent like how they both blatently care for each other but neither says it and how Shep could be the only person to break down her barriers.

So all in all I was just wandering what the community thought and why they chose who they chose.

Ash is probably the more rewarding romance in terms of total content, but I personally prefer Miranda. Her character arc is better IMO - she goes from being a cold woman at the beginning of ME2 to a warmer, softer woman by the end of the trilogy.

I found the human females fairly banal personally.

But if I had to choose I'd stick with Ash. Ultimately more fulfilling.

The main problem with the story is that is designed to make you hate ash in me2 so you romance one of the chars as if you stick with ash from me1 though you get no dialog apart from the email after horizon. So that is why most people choose Miranda in me2 and if you start with me2 and no play saved game I do not think ash is even available.

Ninja edit I still choose ash anyway with my saved playthoughs

I moved from Ashley to Miranda.

When Ashley called my Shepard a traitor, treated him like **** and almost killed him for some uniform, Miranda was the one who trusted and cared about him.

Had Ash kept her ME1 personality (and looks... but that's personal) I would have said Ash in a heartbeat. Now I don't know. I'd probably pick Miranda over Ash, but that's because I really love her character both in ME2 and 3 (wish her role was more important in 3 though).

Yeah, that's cool. I just meant it in a "You already know the answer" way. ;)

There's no wrong decision, obviously. Personally, I don't think Ash holds a candle to Miranda, but I totally understand if people think the opposite.

That never happened in my playthrough.

Thing with Ashley is she will respond to how you behave in the game most out of all the characters.
That's why I like to think she is the most realistically written character IMO. You can actually get different responses based on how you treat her.

Same with Miranda... at least in ME2. You can get a whole different type of romance depending on how you approach her.

What I meant was, that Miranda cared about Shepard when Ashley didn't.
Miranda leaves Cerberus on Shepards' side, while Ashley breaks up with him because her Alliance officials tell her to.
When you meet them in ME3 Miranda wants to be part of Shepard's life for ever, while Ashley tells you she can't trust you because you used to work for someone she doesn't like.

Though I think that is the interesting part: It's personal preference.
I for one, just can't accept a woman that has the issues Ashley has... who would probably kill Shepard if the Alliance declares him a terrorist.
On the other hand there sure are people who appreciate that kind of resistance.

I have to ask about your avatar, is it a custom one?

If you only had to pick one, I'd say Miranda, although the lack of content really sucks etc. (no rants allowed here). BUT
I would a play through where you are with both. ( 2 play through)

I was actually a Mirimancer (I played ME2 before ME) who was won over by Ash (ME1 Ash). I enjoy her character just a bit more, but I do think they're the best two LI's in the game by far (just my opinion though).

Wish Miri had been a squadmate though...

Whats weird is that this is the same woman who went with Shepard to Ilos, becoming a mutineer, like the rest of the Alliance SR1 crew.

I don't blame characters for bad writing.

Also, if she surivives the coup, those "issues" become mute.

From a story standpoint all you really get with Ash is a love scene before Cronos and the extraction scene introduced with the EC. The problem is that there really isn't any interaction with her outside of the date on the Citadel, other than that she just sits in her room stuck in Zaeed-mode for most of the game.

I really liked Ash in ME1 but between Horizon in ME2 and the fact that barely anything that made her character interesting made it into ME3 there really isn't really any incentive for me to go back to romancing her. The same thing happens with Miranda, she goes from an idealist who worked with Cerberus because they wanted a better future for humanity to someone who only cares about her sister and a romanced Shepard.

The only reason that you would stick with either of them is because you liked their characters in the games they were introduced in, both of them are shadows of their former selves.

Agreed, there is some massive head canoning going on.  Still, ME1 Ash and ME2 Miranda are so awesome that it's worth it.

Plus they're not weird, creepy stalkersPosted Image
