Unless you want to see Miranda put on a water works display and then subsequently die as a result of being so traumatized over the breakup, I would just pick one or the other and stick with it.

Breaking up with Miranda in ME3 is beyond retarded.

This.  Breaking up with Miranda is THE WORST SCENE IN THE WHOLE GAME!  IT'S WORSE THAN SHOOTING MORDIN IN THE BACK WHILE PUSHING TALI OFF A CLIFF WHILE STARCHILD MONOLOGUES FOR 88 MINUTES ABOUT THE WONDERS OF SYNTHESIS.

Sorry, caplocks.

If you choose one, stay with her till the bitter end.

So either it's Ash from the beginning and no Miranda, or nor Ash in ME1 and Miranda till the end. However, despite the fact I think BW simply ignored Ashley in most parts in ME3, her romance is still more rewarding than Miranda's, especially since you have a real goodbye in the very last moments of the game.

I mean:
Ashley romance nets you:
- a very sexy romantic climax scene
- a farewell on Earth in person
- another farewell while the beam assault
- Ash puts Shepard's name on the wall - or hesitating before NOT adding the name, if picking Destruction with high EMS

Miranda's romance nets you:
- just a few extra seconds hinting the love of Shepard and Miranda (Apartment)

Actually, I feel bad for Miri's fans. Most of the content you get for her is non-romantic content and the few lines you get don't do the trick. :(

...I actually romance Liara if I'm going to romance Miranda, just because I don't want cheating on her to make it harder to get Ashley back on my squad.  And I agree that Ashley's is more rewarding (though a lot of that is the result of being part of the EC, and Miri isn't), but Miranda's is the best of the non-squadmate romances.

don't really like both of them but i will go with ash cause she is natural. miranda is just a genetic modification that was modify from a man. she wasn't born naturally so yeah thats why i prefer ash. but i think Miranda is cool and all but i wouldn't want to romance her.

Stick with Ash,

The character of Miranda was mutilated, and the romance isn't even worthy. Ashley's romance is more rewarding.

That never happened in my playthrough.

Thing with Ashley is she will respond to how you behave in the game most out of all the characters.
That's why I like to think she is the most realistically written character IMO. You can actually get different responses based on how you treat her.

Same with Miranda... at least in ME2. You can get a whole different type of romance depending on how you approach her.

What I meant was, that Miranda cared about Shepard when Ashley didn't.
Miranda leaves Cerberus on Shepards' side, while Ashley breaks up with him because her Alliance officials tell her to.
When you meet them in ME3 Miranda wants to be part of Shepard's life for ever, while Ashley tells you she can't trust you because you used to work for someone she doesn't like.

Though I think that is the interesting part: It's personal preference.
I for one, just can't accept a woman that has the issues Ashley has... who would probably kill Shepard if the Alliance declares him a terrorist.
On the other hand there sure are people who appreciate that kind of resistance.

Miranda never cared for my Shepard. She pulled the wool over his eyes for sure, and he still helped her like he did with every single one of his crew - is all.

LOL Ashley didn't break up with Shepard because her Alliance officals told her to... Tali refused to join Shepard on Freedom's progress because she had her own mission. On Horizon it's just a lot more personal.

Ashley doesn't say that she can't trust Shepard LMAO. It's obvious she wants to fix things, but it depends on the Shepard. She willingly works with Shepard on Mars, and says, "But where do we stand, Shepard? Did we cut all ties?"

Which is similar to Miranda's, "Am I still part of your plan?" or something.

Ashley did broke up with Shepard on Horizon, because she is rather with the Alliance than with Shepard.
He tells her that they are there to help, that he would need her help... and while others willingly trust Shepard even though he is with a morally grey organization, Ashley calls him a traitor and saws him off.
Would Ashley trust Shepard, she would have believed him that Cerberus is doing the right thing.

Regarding Tali: She joined as soon as she could and risks her life for Shepard in the suicide mission.

On Mars, Ashley tells Shepard "I don't know if that's still you". That's pretty much the same as "I don't know if I should still trust you".
Miranda's question "Am I still part of your plan?" at least invovles her interest. She is just worried that in these 6 months something happened between them.
Ashley's phrase " Did we cut all ties?" is just idiotic to ask, since she already cut most of these ties herself. I would have wished to rub that in her face, but sadly ME3 doesn't have the possibility to ****** people off anymore...

Well, we can debate forever since both women have something. I stick with my primary "first love", so to speak, but it's hard since Miranda -is- quite tempting. I just can't get through a ME1 without romancing Ash, I can't leave her on Virmire and I can't give her up for someone else. Which reduces my chances to get after Miri to zero.

If you follow the path of "which romance gives me more stuff to work with", Ash is the better option. Since it's not always about content (otherwise, I would go after Liara), it's all about taste. And Miranda is not a bad catch, so ... it's up to you.

Ashley interest is known as well. Don't say it isn't.

No, it's not the same. That's twisting her words. Ever stop to think that Ashley doesn't believe it's the same Shepard on Horizon as well? Oh, because you know... Cerberus had him locked away in a lab somewhere for two years, and 'coming back from the dead' isn't something that's possible in her eyes?

Look-e-here, Shepard easily could have been a successful Cerberus bot like Docter Eva on Mars (whom Ashley just watched on tape trick everyone around her into believing she was perfectly human). Ashley doesn't know nothing, because Shepard left her in the dark and completely ignored her existance when he came back. For all she knows, 'Shepard' could just be an old face tricking her. And it'll work because she believed in that face.

Tali cared for Shepard more than Miranda did. As far as my Shepard's concerned, Ashley gave up her career to follow him to Ilos, and was fighting beside him all the way back to Earth. She was there, on Earth.

A little bit of patience and understanding can go along way. If Shepard meets her halfway, Ash will do the same.

Truth be told, Ash always irritated me. While I chose to keep her alive on Virmire, only because I HATE Carth Onassi and any character with his voice, I left her on the ship most times. I like her more in ME3, and thank god for the new hair do, but she's still ndoesn't stand up against Miri for me.

That's kinda interesting.

Ashley in ME1 was perfect in my eyes, really lifelike, so to speak.
Ash in ME3 was ... less present. She had only a role in the first half of the game plus her romance. Besides that, nothing. She felt incomplete, as if half of her character from ME1 got scrapped for good. Without ME1 and the short moment in ME2, I couldn't care less about Ashley in ME3. I couldn't take her without the background knowledge from ME1.
So
Miranda got reduced to Oriana and her dad in ME3, but was an impressive character in ME2. I really loved her and the careful character development from ice queen to someone you like to have around. She's really impressive. Too bad in ME3 she never had a real role besides her family and she never returned to the Normandy.

Ignoring the romances for a moment, I'd say:

ME1!Ashley > ME2!Miranda >>> ME3!Ashley > ME3!Miranda

Basically this.

I second what data says. ME1 ash is such a perfect mix of sexy, strong, independent, and dutiful. Even the little touches (like how she keeps her hair in a bun to meet regs) are great.
A lot of my love for ME3 Ash is me headcanoning in her traits from ME1 that are absent.
