Anyone experiencing terrible lag in some games during multiplayer?

Rather its more between my friend and myself. When either of us host a game the other will lag to a point it'll glitch them out of the game (put us underneath the map or high above the map and unable to move)
Both from Australia and live literally a block away from each other if that helps.

Everything was fine before earth DLC was released. Even a week after the DLC was released, our games were fine, we noticed hardly any lag in each others games. But now its just unbearable. However the puzzling thing is when we join a quick game, it'll be fine. We don't experience any major issues or even glitching out. (That said, we can never join the same quick match. If theres a free spot open, we'd try inviting each other but it'll come up with game is full even though the spot is still open).

Anyone else experiencing issues like this?
Or has encountered this issue and somehow solved it?
