Would it be okay if we could not play as Dwarfs?

If we only got one race, I would prefer it wasn't human.

I have a nagging suspicion that the pc will be human only.

It'd be okay.
But only okay. Not great.

Besides, I don't hold with this nonsense about 6 voice actors being needed to bring back race options. There's no good reason 1 female VA and 1 male VA couldn't voice them all.  Posted Image

That they're already established as having different accents is kind of a big deal.

Accents are regional not racial, nothing to say PCs of different race didn't grow up in the same place in which case they'd have the same accent anyway.

Personally I'd prefer to have as many different origins as possible. However, if one of the "main" origins had to be cut out then I'd prefer it'd be a dwarf then the others.

Human and elven Free Marchers, Tevinters, native Par Vollen dwellers of all races, Orzammar dwarves, and presumably Tevinter slaves all have North American accents.

Alienage elves (as a fact) and presumably all surface-dwelling dwarves pick up the local dialect, making it still possible to have an Orlesian/Nevarran/Antivan protagonist who is human, elven, or dwarven. "Problem solved."

I would love to play a dwarf. I can see Bioware making a elf lead character but dwarf, not a chance.

Unfortunate.

Dwarves are much better as companions and not that many more people care much for being Elves either, so I'm putting forward my own compromise:

Playable Races:
1. Human
2. Kossith (Tal-Vashoth)

It depends on the background, a surface dwarf and city elf would have the same accent as a human who all hailed from the same city, accents are not something you are born with.

Sure they have. And if you get good actors  that can do different accents it can  work.

Gideon Emery does a few dwarves in DAO and his American accent is spot on, he also played Taliesen (Zevran's Crow cell leader). Truly if I didn't know  it was him I wouldn't have recognized his voice, but since I do know, I can hear it. Jon Curry, who voiced Zevran and Ser Landry, is American; Jim Cummings, also American, played Barlin and has a credit list as long as your arm; and finally the incomparable Steve Blum who did Oghren as well as Irving.

The credits are full of great, versatile, voice actors. They also have some who aren't so versatile, who from the sheer amount of voices means you hear them everywhere (Jowan).

Dwarves and city elves don't have appreciably different accents. Human/city elf/surface dwarf?

I would prefer the chance to pick what race I play including qunari.

But they have different statures.  I certainly expect the voices of a dwarf, elf and human to differ, in tone if not in accent.  Were I to play a dwarf, and then try playing an elf with the same voice, it just wouldn't work.  For me.

Nice post.  If Bioware don't want to pay several different voice actors to do each race, then get one or two who can do a variety of voices.

I would have never guessed Zevran and Ser Landry had the same VO.  I like Zevran's voice.  I wouldn't mind seeing video of Steve Blum voicing Oghren and Irving.

No. I would like to be able to play as dwarves and especially elves. Honestly, I'd rather have a race option that has some differences in dialogue, than various origin stories that require you to play as human.

I don't see why we need six different voice actors, we only need two. One for male, one for female.

Personally, as long as I can role play my character as Socially awkward, and get a Sexually aggressive Kossith healer as a LI, I'm happy.

Actually you know what they should do? Throw in a Qunari origin for all races. and kossith too obviously.

I only care to play three origins in DA3: Human, Elf and Ghast.

I would rather amputate my own foot then play as an "elf". Dwarves should definitely make a comeback. More choices are always a plus in my book.

It might get a bit unnerving having the same voice for an elf and a dwarf. (Kossith? Please?)

But then again, I had that problem with two radically different-looking Hawkes.

OP...No, Dragon age is not about elves or humans, is about Thedas and dwarves are a part of it.

Let me be very clear: I will never play as a dwarf but, that doesn't mean everyone who likes to play as one should be happy not having that choice..

Not too long ago people started asking to be able to play as a qunary.. how crazy is that!?
This race didn't even had an origen to begin with!

You're paying most voice actors by the line.  Whether it's more people or not doesn't matter.  Ad studio time is billed by the hour.

The point here is that more voice work is required, regardless of who does it.
