I pick destroy because its the lesser of the three evils

How is Destroy the lesser of three evils? You essentially Destroy the reapers yeah but at the cost of all synthetic life in the galaxy and pretty much crippling the galaxy for god knows how long. Plus if you think long term the there will never be a council or galactic government again and the cycle pretty much continues where synthetics destroy all life with no reapers to stop them :/ You basically learn nothing.

Not at all. The Citadel is shown as being rebuilt in one of Destroy's slides, and as Hackett narrates they'll be able to make do until the relays are rebuilt.*

And frankly, zero damns are given on my part as far as the processing loop of the thing is concerned. Also, zero damns are given about "learn[ing] nothing" as ending the tortured existence of the Reaper constructs appears a mercy to me.

The fact Destroy is made like this and actually feels triumphant compared to the silly god-emperordom of Control and the gods-awful Green utopia makes it pretty much the only choice I can consider and feel okay about. Rejection too with a good deal of headcanon involved, but yeah...

That Shepards survive destroy too on screen is just a nice bonus on top (although also a factor, true; I do not like sacrificing my madam Shepards).

*PS: That the possibility of rebuilding "things lost" can also accomodate the machine constructs that the Servants of All and EDI are is also quite convenient, admittedly.

Depends on the playthrough. I've picked Destroy a few times. Once just to see the breath scene.

I pick it for 2 reasons, depending on my playthrough:
1. It's the only ending that destroys the reapers. They gotta go.
2. So Shep can return to Ash/find Miranda(depending on which playthrough I'm doing). Those girls are awesome and deserve a happy ending.

Nope when I picked I had no idea Shephard would live. Nor did I understand the EMS thing at the time of release. I actually stayed away from the boards until I played the game. I immediately went picked destroyed, because I simply believed that star kid/brat was decieving me (revist EDI's conversation about deceit and the reapers) about control and synthesis. I mean honestly giving a set of limited choices with no way out, how do you know that you are not being deceived? EDI and the Geth were simply causalties, I sacrificed the few to save the many. The breath scene was cool, gave me some hope. This was on the Original Endings back in March.

I picked Destroy because it doesn't make Shepard look like a delusional gnome.

That is to say, I picked it because it turns the Reapers into Swiss cheese whilst keeping Shepard relatively intact in the process. What's not to love?

Nope. I picked it because I don't "buy" synthesis (that is to say, I don't believe that Shepard would believe Godchild about the tech singularity being a real threat, and thus don't believe that Shepard would consider synthesis at all because that's the only reason to pick it). I also don't "buy" that Shepard would pick control because a Reaper told him that control was a good idea moments after shooting TIM.

For the record, I picked the good!divine ending in BG2 - because it worked then. It doesn't work now (the Solar is a reliable expositor, Catalyst is not). However, it is the exact same choice otherwise - (basically) kill the god of murder or take his power and use it for good (or moderate evil)

I've only actually played ME3 once. I didn't know Shepard lived.

So no.

I pick destroy because it does what I want: kill the Reapers.

No, not for that reason.
I picked Destroy before EC with no meta-gaming, and I picked it after EC as well. There are many other good reasons to pick Destroy, and Shepard's breath scene is just a nice bonus.

I picked it because what would Anderson do? *sees vision of Anderson picking destroy* Ok!

And because it's the most direct solution to stopping the Reapers, while the other ones seem too risky/questionable.

Shep living might have been a relevant factor, but that wouldn't mean the other reasons aren't also true.

Shepard basically just pushed the reset button on the whole galaxy, and now everyone can rebuild and move forward without the reapers, or starkid, or whoever influencing them technologically or whatever. Better than the other 2 choices

I dealt with this topic way back pre-EC in Meaningful Sacrifice.

In short, that’s a significant factor for many (and that’s OK).

because it's been the goal of the last three games to kill the reapers and I will never do anything else because those other two options are moraly and eticaly wrong and just a bit stupid

I made a blog post about it.

You can judge for yourself.

I want people to be free of any long lasting influence from the Reapers AND my Shepard.

Only Destroy can accomplish this.

because, unlike the other 2 endings, you dont have gigantic robots with organic goo inside them looking over your shoulder everywhere you go, and people can actually move on and evolve technologically at their own pace instead of being on the Reaper advancement plan

yeah, the same kind of question like

"how many of you that pick synthesis/control because you don't want to sacrifice Geth and EDI?"

So the whole genocide part of it is alright then?

Yep...I am not fond of dead heroes or years of emotional investment thrown to the wind. If control allowed me to live on with a synthetic Shepard avatar that is what I would pick....just being honest

I chose 'Destroy' because it was what my Shepard was supposed to achieve. Also back when I finished the game I didn't get the breath scene despite my high EMS, because I didn't play multiplayer. Thanks again, Bioware!

A better question would be would you pick another choice if that other one was the one where Shepard probably lives? Then (IMO) from a universe perspective Destroy would still be the best choice but there would be a temptation to pick another one for selfish reasons.

true, but whether Shepard is paragon or renegade, he would grit his teeth and make the hard choice, knowing people are going to die, just like in Arrival, and just like on Virmire.  He's a soldier, he knows there are risks and sacrifices involved

It's not genocide if you're not doing it for the purpose of killing the geth. I've had to explain this numerous times. Putting that aside I'm not going to screw over the entire galaxy for a single species.
