I got my Dragon Age: Origins account set up on here to view my character progress a few days ago. I have no problem seeing my characters, out-of-date none the less, however I can not view their avatar, portrait, nor story.

I checked all over the forums and the official FAQ in hopes of finding my answer, but found nothing.

I am an Xbox360 user. I do not know if that may have anything to do with it, but I figured I might put that out there just incase.

Some questions I often ponder are:

Is it just that the server is having issues?
Or maybe 360 users have no access to this feature?
Is there anything I , myself, must do, to fix this? If so, what must I do?

If you can help, it is much appreciated.

Best regards,
Art

1001-1004 refer to specific files missing, meaning they do not exist on the server. Have your characters otherwise updated regularly, even if significantly behind actual game state? The Xbox version sometimes has problems transmitting data but it seems strange that it should select specifically those three files to ignore. Is there any way for you to look at the HDD's content and see if the files exist?

You are supposed to have access to this feature (however, not screenshots) and the only thing you need to do is make sure the game is set to upload character, which seems to be the case or you wouldn't have any characters at all.

Yeah, the problem is that (at the moment anyway) the console versions upload the profile pics only once - if it fails that one time, those two pictures will not show up. At this moment I'm not even sure if it's a bug or feature, I haven't had confirmation either way.

(I had the same problem last night, the story xml got uploaded eventually, but the pics didn't).

Ah, I've been having this issue since the beginning and that's the most light I've seen shed on it.  Thanks!  But I wonder, wouldn't the console have to continuously upload the picture - per update/save, I mean - since it would change every time you change armour?

I've posted in various threads about the same issue I'm having (plus error 1005, in the case of one character) but no solutions have been forthcoming.

Curious. I can't really imagine it's not a bug; the data load is relatively insignificant and, as ColeMR points out, the avatars are dynamic. If you delete a character (completely), will it try uploading the images again?

If you mean off the BSN, I tried that with my errors 1002-1005 character.  It uploaded exactly the same on my next save, everything still missing.

As far as what data is on my hard drive itself, I have only my save files.

Up to this point, I have been playing the game directly through the disc. I am currently installing it onto the hard drive itself, which I just discovered I could do. Hopefully this will make a difference in how the data is transfered over.

Just a note to say I have the same problem on the PC - my in-game character works fine, but the character I uploaded from another machine with the demo (character creator) is always error 1002-1004.

Mine is on the XBOX hard drive...i guess the problems  starts there... cos i play it daily and my profile has not been updated for the last 2 days!

Which sucks really!

Interesting. After I installed it onto my hard drive, the next update on here added my story information. However there still is no portrait or avatar. Perhaps one of the posters above was correct in saying that the Xbox version only uploads the pictures once.

My last character was created before I installed the game onto my hard drive. So, maybe, if I create a character again, with it now installed onto my hard drive, the pictures may be uploaded as well.

Just made a new character after having installed the game onto my hard drive as oppose to just playing straight from the disc as I had originally done when I created my first character. Though it seems to make no difference as far as not showing an avatar/picture. No clue why it does not work now.

The error 1002 and 1003 are apparently not isolated to Xbox, I have PS3 and am having those problems... Frustrating just doesn't seem to cover it ;)

They have nothing to do with the platform.

So what's the solution? Running the diagnostics, my current character has not been updated in 20+ days. I've saved/loaded as well as de-clothed and re-clothed. Firewall ports are open and I'm running the game normally/no console. Whereas 2 old characters that I deleted (both locally and deleted on the site here too) are displaying error codes "1004, 1001, 1002" and "1004, 1001, 1003" as well as constantly re-uploading old screenshots that I previously deleted. Seems to be a server re-sync issue? Who can help with this?

Thanks.

Yeah I'm having the same issues. I'm playing on an xbox with the game installed on the HD, no portraits to use, and only one avatar and story file uploaded. It's most annoying!

Each time I upload a new character it seems to me that my PC sends the old, deleted characters too.... the game remembers too much and erases too few :/

I've made progress. After fowarding a boatload of ports on my router to my PS3 and deleting my character from social.bioware.com and saving again I've gone from 1004, 1001, 1003 to 1002, 1003 only.

Does anyone know if image files are uploaded via the same port as the XML files ?

Priority for updating is given to those whose profiles have been viewed by someone other than themselves in the last 24 hours. If your profile is not updating - or only doing so rarely - it may be because it is being continually bumped down the priority list.

If you want it to update regularly (or at all) then you need someone else to view your character profile, not once but regularly. So, have a friend log on and view it, if you can. If that isn't possible, you can view it yourself but must do so while not logged in (this means that the site won't 'recognise' you and know that it is you).  If you have IE8, you can use the InPrivate function, I believe. If cookies aren't kept on your browser, you can use a bookmark or url to get to your character profile page, but don't log into your account. This will cause an update within a couple of minutes (if you're lucky), and several hours (if you're not).

No-one can help with the missing files. There is currently no fix or solution. It is a known issue with all platforms. When we delete our characters from the server, it seems that files are sometimes left behind. The 'missing' ones are those that deleted correctly. The others are the problem. If they don't reappear on our character page we cannot get rid of them - you can't delete something that isn't there to be deleted. If they do reappear, we can keep deleting that character until they truly are deleted (with luck).

With regard to screenshot re-uploading after deleting them from the server, simply turn off 'upload screenshot' in options on your game (the online tab). You will still be able to upload screenshots manually, but they won't upload automatically.

every uploaded character has 1004 error ( no story xml file, PC version ) but sometimes, when the sun rising from the *west* not the east, story going to update till the end of origin story, after this its just stopped and NEVER updating again, tried a lot of things like waiting till character uploading then start a game, stating a game before character uploading to the server, changing origins after creating character ( my mistake, one of my character already has 21 of unexpected files hehe ) and im going rly mad, finished a game 3rd time a few days ago, but i wanna be a warrior with a story, not a no name hero =)

well I'm getting the same error codes. It's weird though, it uploads character stats and achievements(like level, enmies killed etc.) but not gear, avatar or anything else.
