Like many have mentioned before I would like to see an open world to explore for the sequel. If they are gonna make it like Oblivion(which was awesome but...) where all the NPC are pretty much the same and say the same dumb stuff ... then forget it I like it the way it is. Oh an class quests for sure maybe evena stronghold quest - Keep for Warriors, Mage Tower for Mages and A Hideout for the Rogue

Most importantly: no fight spamming. I really feel like DA:O spams me with fights. Or at least somehow make these fights less of a drag...
And don't clutter every quest into one, like in the Dead Trenches where you don't know why you're fighting this spam of Darkspawn again: Branka, Oghren, the king, the Blight, the Darkspawn, the Broodmother, that mad girl, The Anvil of Capital Letters...eh? Whatever.

1) More Steve Valentine- one of the best VO in games i've heard

2) more dialogue options to avoid battle - it would be great if we could talk ourselves out of a battle if we wanted

I would like to see them add in a multiplayer function. Baldurs gate you could hook up with friends online and battle together and that adds much more to the gaming experience. Playing the game is fun yes, but playing alone can get boring. Throw some online play in so we can group up with friends and run the quests together.

1. More in-depth tactics.

2. Continuation from the previous character. I'd LOVE to see where me and Leliana go.

3. A form of targeting system would make things *really* sexy.

4. More refined combat mechanics, stats, balance, blah-blah-blah.

5. More branchiness for Warrior's trees. If you pick a talent in any of the weapon trees, you really have no reason to simply max it out, and there's little customization in this regards. Pretty boring.

6. Precise skill descriptions, plox.

7. More crafting options, maybe, like for weapons and other gear?

8. More armor/weapon appearance variety. This is the prime reason I don't like playing a Mage.

Now this is where I'm indecisive:

I'd love to see a main story regarding something that isn't a monstorous evil. It'd be quite epic to have it focus around a Qunari invasion...But on the other hand, I'd love to learn more about the origins of the Darkspawn and the taint in general, and inevitably end up in the Black City (one of THE most intriguing areas I've ever read about in a game).

Oh, and one last thing:

9. Nudity in my sex scenes, plox. I don't want to see the "naughty bits", it's just that having both characters be fully underweared really takes away from the immersion for it.

For example: As funny as people like to claim the "******-dwarf" lovescene to be, I found it incredibly tasteful.

Moar Numbers? Make it so that we can get all the statistics and
stuff without having to use third-party mods, like that one for
Detailed Tooltips, which shows the exact calculations involved in
Spell-Power damage and so on. Even if you prefer to dumb dowm the UI
for the casual/console crowd, please provide an option for roll logs etc. on the PC at least!

They didn't "dumb it down for the console crowd" as you put it, they made a deliberate decision not to include the numbers, for reasons that they have stated in the past; I would like to see more games go this route.

As for a lack of a day/night cycle, that is due to another decision they made as to how the lighting in areas was done in this game engine. I'm not sure whether or not it was the right one, but they may not decide to change it in future games.

"More and or Better BETA testing and POLISH, and oh ya more polish , before released"

I used to work for a game company and find my hackles getting raised at this. I am absolutely certain that there was plenty of testing done. Perhaps you mean that there should be more time given to developers to fix all of the things that QA finds? The fact that it can be given polish so quickly after it is released indicates that testing was not the issue.

My desire for DA2 would be the memory leak/file fragmentation issue be fixed. I know that this has been a problem since (at least) NWN, and has been hugely visible since KOTOR, but I find that I can not play for more than a hour before things get choppy, especially if I am changing locations frequently. And the ever increasing load times interrupt the flow of the game.

yes thats why the POLISH was added to the end . i don't know i guess i just am very critical of the things i do and try and make it as best as can be .And if i claimed 5 years in the making i would of been embarrassed of the way it was released.. if i beta tested this game i would of found 95 % of the things that were ,ill be nice overlooked. And yes i feel it was rushed out because of christmas

its a trend im seeing more and more of though. i almost feel like im paying them to beta test their games for them.its just IMO

I see that this may be an excellent placd for my ideas.....not necessary for dragon age 2, could be used for expansion

Rogue spec. Ninja::ph34r:

leanr from, possible new party member or in the far east country they may visit

info:
ninja's are trained in secret to be the ultimate assasins, they do not carry much except for a ninja bag, which can contain a certain amount of loot. Ninja's can make almost everything into a weapon and therefore can make good use for something what someone else would deem useless, because they are very light packed, you will find that they are the fastest threat on the battlefield...(they depend on high dex and high cunning)
+ 4 dex
+ 2 cunning

Throw
:modus:sustained:
The ninja is able to throw light objects, shurikens are standard and light loot can be placed in the ninja bag(knives, arrows, bolts, daggers, useless loot and poisons (if poisonmaking is aquired). while this mode is active, ninja cannot engage in melee combat, ''improved throwing'' increases the variety of types of items thrown.

smokescreen:activate:

the ninja uses a smokebomb to confuse the opponent and flee from the battle, letting the opponent confused and less effective in combat, after the effect is over they will seek other characters to attack instead. Passivly increasing the duration and effectivness of stealth and the characters attack speed.

Improvisation: passive:

the ninja has learned to use almost everything as a weapon, increasing and the chance to penetrate armor and the chance for critical attacks, further more it increases the likelyhood of the enemy dropping throwable loot.

Improved throwing: passive:

The ninja now can throw anything except for quest items, how lighter how more accurate, how heavier how more damage. Items still need to be placed in the ninja bag.

(if the game expands to 5 abilities per row)

Shadow Strike: activate:
, the ninja makes an attack so powerfull and fast that after suffering from several critical hits, the opponent will still be confused on the fact that he saw four copies of the ninja.. leaving him disorient unless the opponent passes an high mental and high physical resistance check...

Warrior spec. Guardian:police:

info: in an ancient kingdom, there lived a king who was highly regarded... several of his most loyal men, trained themselfs to be the kings personal walls, with such high defense no enemy of the king was ever able to get past them. These guardian rely on great endurance...
+ 6 constitution
+ 6 defense

Stand guard: modus: sustained
the Guardian stands still, in this mode the guardian get's a high boost in defense but cannot move, infact standing still unable to even flinch...he also suffers from an penalty to any healing

Admirable statue:  Modus
the standing guardian intrigues opponents, and take him as target instead of the other characters, the penalty to healing becomes less. ( activate when Stand Guard modus is active, this will act as an extra modus.)

Protect: modus: timed

selecting an ally will have the guardian take some of the hits, and increase his defense and health, will be walking near the ally, thus making it hard to attack other enemies...

Improved protecting: passive

mastered his protecting, the selected ally will be shielded by most of the attacks during this mode, through motivation, the guardian will not back down, making protect a sustained mode, and will only quit by quitting the mode or his own death.

5th one havent decided on

5th spec Mage:wizard:

almost every enemy mage in the game is summoning stuff, especially demons, don't see why you cannot not summon them or change in them (instead of completely kill the purpose of shapeshifting) any how if the other ones get a 5th so should the Mage...

-----------------
Arcane mage adition: 5th spell, Battle Staff, when activating this mode the mage is now able to use his staff as an weapon using spellpower as damage,

Blood mage modification, switch icons for blood sacrifice and blood crowd control

New weapon style for warrior and Rogue: Weaponless

gloves will make use ads weapons, special gloves for weapon slot...complete with runed ones an what not...
3 rows

Fist: will require high strength: offensive

Open Hands: requires high Dex: defensive, think judo like..disabling opponent

Feet: Combination, two kick like attacks, footwork to increase abilities etc.

a second row for shapeshifter, weak right now...

My point is that you are blaming the "testing".  Having done this for a living, it is rarely a lack of testing.  Sign off meeting for simple games will have a QA manager walk in with a ream of paper with one bug per line saying, "If it goes out now, these are the bugs that we acknowledge we are letting go."  The worst of those are usually fixed in the first patch.  The worst bugs found after release are in the second patch.

"Duke Nukem: Forever" is a great example of trying to fix everything before releasing it.  Even Blizzard games go out with bugs in it.

But back to the point, blame QA for what is right, for what was found and fixed, and blame the people who say "We want it now!" or "Why is the release date slipping?" for the problems in it, but I promise you it was not a lack of testing.

Considering the PC version was originally scheduled to ship in the early part of 2009, I'd say this probably isn't the case. Not only that, many bugs that were still in the PC version and were fixed in the first 2 patches were already fixed in the console versions when they were sent out for production.

First of all

DO NOT ADD MULTIPLAYER
The game kicks ass as it is. Just increase the single player experience. Fill it completely.
Adding random event like runescape has? Oh god, why not just throw the game in the fire while you're at it? Or smash it with a hammer.

- New Areas
- More variation of the weapons, armors and so on.
- More story, deeper conversation.
- Some place where you could uppgrade as said before ''you're little home'', that might just be something.
- New and exciting companions aswell as familiar once.

Dragon Age: Orgins Kicks ass.
What ever they deside to do whether it's continuing the story of making a new one, it will still kick ass. ..
peace..

1. Better graphics Mass Effect quality (the Xbox textures and trees need to be improved)

2. Voiced player character pick one of 4 (it really adds something)

3. More Fade any elaboration and delving into mythology

4. More direct story relevence in the go here and do this phase I want it to be building up to something not use separate individual story arcs.

5. Lots more monsters

6. More personality for enemies

7. More political intrigue. The Landsmeet was my favourite part of the game.

8. Side areas for exploration like BG maps or Mass Effect planets (smaller and minus the barreness)

How about:

+ Experience points for crafting.

+ Rune-slots for bows.

+ Gender-specific Starting Bonuses.

+ A 'Cleric' specialization for Mages (giving the ability to use maces/flails, to turn the undead, and to 'attempt' to dispel demons to the Fade).

+ More types of 'pets' for the Ranger.

+ Beef up the Shapeshifter choices.

1. Open area which promote exploration and random npc encounters(would be the ideal place for secret weapon or great gears).

2. Ditching the random encounter on the roads.I prefer having a semi sandbox game like Fable 2(and Fable 1 was more or less similar to Dragon age with story related zones and nothing else).

3. Each class need to be better defined, but the ideal solution would be to split each class in two.Archer and rogue should become distinct classes(archer need to be fleshed out imo).Mage doesn't mix well with shapeshifting,so it should be split.Warrior should not share a talent tree with the rogue class.Tanking and damage dealing should be separated, since this is not World of Warcraft where you need a dps spec to farm or do the leveling grind. :)

4. -Rogue would then be more focused and streamlined.A dps class with stealth and stealing skills.

-Archer with long range dps skills, summoning pets(more talent to improve pets) and more crowd control skills.

-Warrior which is an armored dps warrior, with less single target damage than rogue and more aoe physical   skills(can take more hits than rogue and make perfect use of the heavy armor). Thus we could escape a silly situation where half the potential members are warrior(Shale,Sten,Ohgren,Alistair and main character if you go the warrior route).

-Tank/defender class which can tank in several ways. You could have a specialization which is similar to a paladin(only class which could equip massive armor).

-Mage with nukes and crowd control(keeping the spirit healer spec and scrapping arcane warrior because of the dedicated tanking class)

   - Shapeshifting class which can use spells. Each form should specialize in something(dps, emergency   tanking, crowd control and long range damage, etc) and have several talent to improve it.

5. Last but not least,a more inspired landscape which doesn't instantly remind me of medieval europe.I want a little crazyness injected in the stale western fantasy genre.Go wild with either the clothes or monsters or better yet architecture. If there's one thing the japanese do better,it's designing fresh and strange fantasy worlds. ;)

Templar origin dammit! I want to go around being a zealous chantry freak, consequences for your actions (blood mage anyone?)

Nothing anyone else hasn't mentioned really...Oh joinable factions (especially if there are other cities, I wanted to be a soldier of RedCliff darnit :()

Regarding the above comment, just don't go too heavy on copying the Japanese! God help us, only elves being able to romance and tenticles coming from all corners...Perish the thought...

i'd like for the camera to be able to scan the whole map instead of just what's in your party's range, kinda like in the baldur's gate series when the camera could range across the whole map. i'd like some dao npcs to return. maybe alistair, morrigan, & shale. expand the classes. make rangers a separate class as well as healers. more variation in how weapons and armor look. also, take your time to make the game, bioware. don't rush out a poor product.

At end of game you should give an option to replay the game. The catch is the the game is twice as hard as the first but it allows you to keep your character. For Ex. Diablo Also it would be cool to have multiplayer.

After reading this thread I have come to the conclusion, that if Bioware ignore 100% of the suggestions made by the "moar realism and a more open less linear world, makes for a better fantasy, story based RPG crowd", I will be as pleased as punch.

Just some ideas (which might have been said already):

 1. Voice acted player (with a few different voice actors to pick from).
 2. More settings for difficulty. Own sliders for the amount of experience gained, amount of damage party takes, amount of health enemies have and if AoE-spells should cause friendly-fire or not. Of course there should be presets like Easy and Hard that automatically set these sliders.
 3. More different loot. It becomes rather boring to open chests to get leather gloves, when I already have five pairs of them in the inventory.
 4. More dialogue options to get out of battle.
 5. Players able to start DA2 with their old character from DA:O. Make that as one of the origins. Other origins would start a totally new character.
 6. More fantasy like clothes, armors and weapons. Not like the ones in Final Fantasy, but at least a bit more decorative. And give mages more clothes to choose from.
 7. Ability to use one-handed sword while using two-handed skills. Less power but faster.
 8. Spears, with an animation where the character impales his/her target and pushes it to the ground.
 9. Healing your wounds in a chantry or sleeping in an inn. Not sure if some of these are possible, but at least I haven't seen such options.
 10. KEEP THE PAUSING! People are whining about it, but they don't seem to understand that they are not forced to pause. If the tactics are not good enough to handle everything, then whine about them! Pausing is just a cool feature that allows players like me to plan our moves, instead of just dumb hack 'n slash. Oh, and you're not forced to pause!
 11. No multiplayer. Concentrate on a good single player experience. Multiplayer options could come in an expansion if really necessary.

Yes. At least this "more open, less linear world" doesn't sound too promising. Then people were asking for day-night cycle for the NPCs. Yeah, Oblivion was fun because of that... NOT! I still remember how annoyed I was after having to look for an inn the thirtieth time, just because the quest giver had gone to sleep. Yes, it's more realistic but how is that fun?!

Yeah, I think that making it more Oblivion style if you like, would alter the gameplay experience in a way that would detract from the strenghts of Bioware games, that being a driven story with interesting and appealing characters, remember there is alway's a trade off to making a game more "open".

It's not that I don't like Oblivion type RPG's either, I played it for many many fun filled hour's. I just don't see the need to combine the two different types of RPG's, I like variety :D

1: Carry on the story of the grey warden from the first but with new tasks not the blight, Grey wardens are supposed to be elite warriors its not outrageous to suggest they get involved with other crises in between blights
2: Dynamic weather - It has to rain/fog at some point over the course of the journey
3: 5 - 6 man party
4: Reccurring characters - specifically the popular companions
5: More varied sidequests
6: Shorter but more numerous main quest lines the deep roads went on far too long for my liking, I didn't appreciate spending 4-5 hours grinding my way through some underground tunnels to find some insane Dwarf (Urn of sacred ashes was around the ideal length)
7: More variation in weapon and armor design
8: Somewhere to store Items in camp rather than carrying them about untill you wish to use them (I know Wardens keep did this but I'd prefer to have it from the start)
9: More towns and cities to visit

Thats all for know
