When Liara told me that the archives contained the solution to the reaper threat, whicht they discovered mysteriously right now. In retrospect that should have been my first clue...

That did kinda make me facepalm too.

"You've had the Mars Relay for 20+ years... and only now do you discover this?"

But I let that go, because hey, they needed to sacrifice coherance for spectacle.

Liara actually hints at the Crucible in LotSB.

No lie either. She says that the Protheans were looking into a weapon to stop the Reapers and then she looks off to the side.

Vent Boy.
First I was like "Ok. Scared kid, Shep tries to help, kid too scared to go anywhere. Ok."
Then I was like "Why am I looking at him from the Normandy? Oh, he got killed. Oh well."
Later "Why am I dreaming about him? He died because he wouldn't let me help him. Guess we're going with the "Kid's death scarred Shepard" route. *sigh*".

this.

I mean, sure, if I killed the queen, the husk rachni could have still been explained - maybe they found another transport ship that had rachni in it from ME1... or they cloned dead rachni found on Noveria.. but NOOO they made their own queen.

For me it was the very beginning of the demo.

I knew exactly how to create my Shep from one of the presets - had done it literally dozens of times - but this time was a major WTF? moment - then after several restarts I realized that it couldn't actually be done with the new creator.

Oh well, I thought, good thing I have all my saves and my face will just import when the game comes out......................................

Error message.

it was all down hill from there - that was my first reward for being a fan from the very first game and keeping all my saves.

Okay, there's a lot of things that I made me go 'hang on..', like Shepard's "we fight or we die", not only is it a facepalm moment but it really made me wonder whether it was a BioWare writer that actually wrote that line.

Overall however, I would have to say the fact that you have to play the game for at least an hour or two before you get any sense of being able to explore the galaxy. How they guide you from Earth to Mars to the Citadel had me thinking... "hang on? Is the whole game going to be like this?" Backed up by the auto-dialogue that whole opening section didn't feel like a Mass Effect game.

First "hang on" moment?

...

Logging on here at any giving time and seeing the retarded amounts of vitriol directed towards BioWare staff and other users over unimportant opinions and so-called disappointment from disgruntled gamers who had a vision of ME3 set within stone in their heads and flew so far off the handle when it was different from that pre-set status quo.

The amount of people who feel personally betrayed by BioWare is absolutely insane. What's worse is the fact that they vent there misplaced anger here on BSN.

I can't even stand to post here anymore as any positive thing I say earns me 15 people telling me how wrong I am with their arrogant "facts" as to why. If I try to debate, I am met with hate.

That was my first "you have to be kidding me" moment.

She looked off to the side because Shepard was meant to slap her and say "don't even think about a DEM!"

No, if you have something positive to say, you should always voice it. I just ignore posts that I don't agree with, generally. Posts like this however I do not, and you're only lowering yourself to their level by even caring enough to post it.

Also the bolded part, I don't think it was because it was different from their pre-set status quo, but the status quo established through-out the previous two installments. You can't go from Michael Jackson to Barry White and expect people to eat it up without noticing the difference.

Am I mistaken or is everybody else in this thread talking about the story and the campaign about, you know.... the game?

Oh look at that!  We're in the Mass Effect 3 Story and Campaign Discussion forum!

My ME to ME2 FemShep (xbox360) import was NOT My FemShep in ME3.
Took me sometime to get close to what she looked like originally.

First: These boards are a cesspit feilled with hate, anger, and vitriol. There are no positive threads. Any that are posted always get dereailled by a few vocal idiots.

Second: No, it really is one's own imagination that sets a status quo. Neither game ever set up an actual conclusion for the third even if they toyed with it a tiny bit.

So I'm on Mars, and I tell Ashley that I always want her with me, and she says that's all she needed to hear.

So then later I'm in the hospital talking to her, and there's a dialogue choice about working together, and how we can't be at each other's throats, and I'm like "WTF? She just said that was all she needed to hear! We should be good!"

And then Tali tried to convince me that Miranda died. Because Tali's mean.

At the harbor in Vancouver.

There's a giant freaking Reaper dreadnought standing right next to you, and you call the Normandy to come pick you up at that exact location? What the hell, Anderson?

Oh, wait. No. My first WTF would be seeing that the intro cinematic and expository text at the start does NOTHING to explain Shepard's current situation on Earth. Even for people who are importing. It's only meant to accomodate newcomers to the series (like the slow buildup to the revelation about Reapers, the vague answers given by Hackett about "what" they're seeing, etc.).

No, wait. I take it all back. My very first WTF was seeing that my imported Shep looked almost nothing like my character from ME2, and the fact that I was forced to go through and recreate him to the best of my ability (with ME3's altered customization options) made me facepalm.

I agree 100 percent with your post. I also agree with allot of the "What the..." moments people are had.  But the bigger issue is sense of entitlement many people on these forums for this game to live up to their expectations. Sure I wanted some things to be different, and some promises weren't kept (For me keeping Ashley as a love interest all the way through didn't have the promised payoff (No Regrets!)).

But what is lost in all the Negativity is the game is F-ing awesome! One of the best games of the past few years. People want to nitpick at plotholes and bad science, but newsflash, most SciFi is full of Plotholes and Bad Science. Just enjoy the ride and appreciate that we can live in someone else imagination...

People's negative opinions on these forums are not wrong. I just wish it wasn't so often and so full of anger.

If all you did was read these forums, you would think BioWare was the Adam Sandler of videogames. :P

If you want to add logical discussion to your dissappointment with the BSN community, feel free to start a different thread or join the other threads that agree with what you said.  However, you derailed this thread off topic to discuss an apple instead of an orange.

Not only that, the irony is amazing.  You complained about the hate and anger on the boards.... yet your off-topic post was filled with anger.

At least someone gets it. For as bad as people say it is, it is a damn good game that is eons ahead of everything else that is currently out.
