Pretty sure we all knew what you ment but it was a great typo anyway.

I loved it, but it didn't blow me away quite like the Beijing one. I did love the music stuff. I bet Prince Philip was body-popping (literally) to Dizzee Rascal.
I doubt we will see anything like Bejing anytime soon.
I like the little tidbits you learn while watching. Kim Rhodes is a U.S.A. skeet shooter. She was the youngest women to win a gold medal, has medaled in 5 consecutive olympic games, today shooting skeet she hit 99/100 which is amazing and just my impression from the interview she is very humble.
Or they did a thing about the 1948 Olympics in London when it was still bombed out from WW2 and how so many countries brought large supplies of food and what not, or how athletes were asked to supply their own towels.

Baseball and Softball we're eliminated from the roster because they felt they were American dominated sports that other countries weren't invested in and therefore never going to get a gold medal in. Regardless of Japan's softball win in Beijing proved otherwise.
Also I didn't care much for the "Digitial Age" part of the ceremony. It felt like a big cluster **** based around the guy who invented html and somehow therefore the internet.
I don't think you need the same amount of people or money as China to make a show as good as they did. With the right artistic direction it might even be possible to match their show in impressiveness or even make a better one. UK did not even come close... well... Mary Poppins kicking Voldemort in the butt was entertaining.
Sydney's show is still my favorite so far.

Everybody likes to try and take credit for the internet. I just ignore them. They each added parts but it was no one person or groups invention.
And I am watching table tennis right now. I could swear this one player is headbutting the ball to serve. They only have shown the angle from behind so Its just so weird. Okay I just saw a better angle and she is just bent over serving with the paddle in front of her face.
ALso I think one part is the hard economical times but another is China wanted to blow the world away and most other countries are not that worried of making such a show. They all have their own unique charm. Might need to look the Sydney one up I was serving at that time.

I tuned into the opening ceremony solely because Underworld were the musical directors. Loved their two original pieces (the industrial section and the torch lighting) and the song list for the parade of nations was fantastic. Oh, and sneaking Born Slippy in at the end of the "evolution of music" bit made me giggle with glee.
Anyone who'd like to see what all the songs for the parade of nations were, the whole list is on Underworld's site.

As strange as it sounds I was kind of hoping for something like the Hovis advert with the kid running through the last century of Britain, but on a much bigger and grander scale. To show what Britain has faced and achieved over the last century to the world. The opening ceremony kind of tried to do it but it felt like a big conglomerate mess of timeline, needed to be more orderly.
As for the olympics themselves, I'll come in and out of it. It's not like Britain wins anything important a lot anyway. I'm still annoyed by the draconian rules of the stadium like how having a Pepsi or wearing Nike trainers can get you kicked out "To protect our sponsors."

What the hell is up with the hockey? I feel like none of the teams that SHOULD be there, are...India? Korea? Pakistan? Where the hell are Canada, Norway, Sweden, etc?

China got the gold, U.S. got the silver and Canada scored the bronze.

I assume you know that since this is the summer olympics? So it's field hockey, not ice hockey. It's the national sport of India and Pakistan.

Judo is too lame... I don't want to watch this sport again!
Soccer is almost good and amusing, like Volleyball.
Gymnastics doesn't disappoint me, like ever.
Some people are surrounded by couch potatos it seems! When they see athletes they think they're in heaven! lol

I'm still hopeful for Team GB.
An okay start.
Looking forward to our first Gold, but I can't help but feel sorry for our athletes. All that pressure. I'd go crazy. I doubt I'd be at my best with my home crowd shouting at me.

The fact China and the US are up top isn't a surprise at all, plus all your typicals are in the Running, I'm surprised that North Korea is doing rather well with Three Golds and a bronze so far.

Watched the opening ceremony with my friends. To say the least we weren't very impressed with it, like The Queen 'jumping' out of a helicopter, just seems to cheapen her image and make her a joke. And then there were people like Dizzee Rascal who looked like he didn't give a sh*t over the ceremony. And then there was other bizarre things like 'celebrating' the NHS, you know the very same NHS that our current government is slowly trying to privatize, and at the same time a giant Voldemort and an aerial assault squad of Mary Poppins and a legion of boogeymen are all running around? It was all very hit and miss for me but mostly miss, the Beijing and Sydney openings were much better in my opinion.
As strange as it sounds I was kind of hoping for something like the Hovis advert with the kid running through the last century of Britain, but on a much bigger and grander scale. Most of this sums up my thoughts about the opening. It didn't impress me.

It was a Bronze in Syncronized Diving 3M spring board IIRC.
