It did however, provide a sense of actual "open world" exploration and not the confined linear "enter-exit" of everything else in the game.
It also supported the option of being able to return to previously explored planet. Something that grew very frustrating in latter ME games/game.
The concept is good, but the application is a major fail. Then they tried to supplement that fail with yet another. This became known as the Hammerhead. I mean the application is a little better, but not much. It failed by being paper thin and while actually being able to fly, it could only hover.
This was further flawed by the constriction of a very tunneled linear gameplay experience.
