Here's how I play Rio and don't run like a maniac - the key is not to hold the middle.

If you have friends or mic'ced up people get them all to the area opposite the LZ. The map is insanely easy at that point other than objective waves where you have to run but that is true no matter what. You get long sight linesto the control room. It might take some time for the baddies to come to you but it is sooo easy.

If not, I take a position behind a cargo container that has the ammo box. Let all the other people try and hold the central spot like they want to do. You've got two still easy to control spawn points around you and if your PUG's are smart they'll figure out you are keeping their backs clean. That end of the map is crazy easy to control because even if you get in trouble you can duck around the corner almost anywhere to hide, reload/recharge and fight on. I've danced around down there with multiple primes until help arrived several times.

Now, it helps that I playa Geth (hunter vision is golden in that maze) or a Fury (annihilation field at close quarters :) ).

Condor has no redeeming qualities. Dark, gloomy, crappy ammo boxes.

I actually like Goddess but that one hack is difficult to put it mildly.

Condor and London are my most hated. My main reasoning is that they're so open. Condor is also really glitchy, which adds to my dislike of that map.

If Bioware are making more maps, I'd love to see some more smaller one's. All the new maps are really big. Some that are the size of Glacier and White would be nice.

Hey, Jos,
I'm OK with Reactor hack, hacking in the open on Giant, I can survive in London hacks but what I really, really do not find funny or challenging anymore is the atrium hack on Godess. That's a bit more punishment than neccessary.
I also don't feel to have achieved something afterwards, I am just stressed or annoyed. I'm probably better off distracting things away from the hack circle.

FB Rio .. i seem to get attacked from everywhere on this map and especially with geth .. i am unable to spot geth hunters in any map but they spot me even with my cloak on :? .. with Rio and geth its a tactical nightmare .. rockets on my face , hunter on my a** , primes on my sides :crying:

Yeah good points and thanks for taking the time to post that, but I have tried that myself, with and without team support.  I've found the you still get drawn after mobs, objectives and player rescues that are then far, faaaaar away.  Also I've had it where spawns are forced at the opposite end and you see very little action.  If you have the leadership / persuasion skills to regularly get PUGs to overcome that, then I salute you, cos I certainly can't.

In my experience of PUGs (on any map) most attempts to play a bit defensively (i.e. not just rush around in an insane killing frensy chasing every beeping thing) are just seen by many players as "yay, more cake for me",  and on this map they'll apparently happily deal with the high cost in consumables and frequent death rates that follows their pursuit of 'xp' points they can't actually use for anything.

After too many frustrating, wiped or high-spend games, I just don't bother and would rather play another map.

I disliked Reactor but after getting into Gold and then Platinum...its one of the best maps in the game. It has so much cover and so many places to kite enemies to their demise. In all honesty that map provides the best tactical advantages to your team.

Condor is my most hated map and it made me hate the Geth even more when i fight them in this map.... I can handle this map better and overlook its huge flaws if the ammo boxes didn't take forever to replenish.... I have played Rio countless times and i never had any glitches like the game crashing so i have no problem with that map .

To me. I want a map to have flow, and plenty of grenades. I was suprised that Vancouver only has one grenade per box.

Thank you Jos for listening to feedback and providing some insight about how the levels are designed. Hydra and Jade are two of my favourite maps, thank you for those!

My least favourite maps are Condor and Reactor, for one reason only: They're too dark! I don't have the greatest of eyesight, and it gets tough to play when the game environment is too dark. That actually goes for London as well, but I enjoy the layout on that map so much that it more or less makes up for the lack of light.

Anyways, perhaps you and the rest of the team could consider making more maps with good lightning? Not all of us who play are youngsters with perfect eyesight, after all. ;)

London. Escort + Hack are nearly unpugable on gold or higher. People won't use rockets or cover your butt.

Whichever map is on Tuchanka, I always get stuck on the 'cover' and can't find the grenade box.

End up on Condor, against Geth with a short ranged character (Piranha much?)

Why I dislike:

Condor: Extraction area is absolutely brutal for hacks at times. Being shot by enemies across the entire level when my guns can't do that same many times. Too much open space.

London: I don't hate this level. But I think the center hack near the staircase is ridiculous. It's an indefensible position that has almost always yielded revive-fests.

Reactor: Again, center hack location is ridiculous. Indefensible. Same for hack up ladder near spawn. Not asking for a fort here, but getting picked off from across the board on wave 10 hacks due to little secret holes put in stinks.

I hate Rio, it is dull map that gets enemies spawned on both side you your cover and a really sucky 5 minute hacking place.
