Well, to give you some honest feedback, here are my thoughts on those:

Hydra - one of my favorite maps. I like the openness of it, along with the asthetics.

Goddess - This map has some frame rate glitches for me, but that's a whole other issue. I try to avoid it because of that. I'm not really sure if I love it or hate it, to be truthful.

Jade - This is an odd one for me. Playing a vanguard or Shadow, I like it because I can move around it easily. But with a non-teleporting class I don't like it as much. It's too much work to get around. Also, it feels more boring than other maps. I think it's just kind of plain.

London - I'm still working this one out. I generally dislike it because I hated a lot of the London gameplay in Single Player. Aside from that, it's okay. I actually really like how challenging some of the hacking objective are in this map.

Anyway, I really want to say thanks for taking the time to talk to us a bit about the maps :) Hearing any little details about how these games are developed is a lot of fun.

Very cool, thank you for sharing that insight! I figured it was a team effort, but nice to know what ones you had a bigger hand in, so to speak.

I'll admit that of those, I initially was not fond of Hydra. I just kind of found it "blah", although I can't point a finger as to why. But it's a map that has really grown on me as of late, and I feel it's one of my stronger maps as far as comfort level with dominating, so to speak. Goddess is very beautiful and was terribly intimidating at first because I constantly got hoplessly lost in all the twists and turns! Still do, occasionally. LOL Jade is my favorite of those four, I'll admit. Also beautiful and just the right amount of challenge as far as cover/lack of cover, ammo box locations, spawn points, and objective variable points.

Of the originals, I adore Ghost and Dagger most of all, so tip my cap to those responsible for those two. I just love the twists and turns/zig-zags of them (although my husband despises Ghost for that very reason!).

Yes. I hate losing 65k credits because of a Object Delivery objective.

You did my favorite map (FB Jade). I'd also like to ask you a question. Do you do any parts of maps other than objectives?

I groan every time Condor comes up at random. It's really twisty and dark, and I don't like all the cover-vaulting I have to do to get around. The hack in the lowest part of the map is murder, etc etc.

And I don't like Vancouver because looks super boring. I like layout, but of all the wondrous alien locales in the Mass Effect universe to explore, why a generic grey rooftop in Canada?

Object Delivery is EASY. Hacks are not.

And I hate Condor - didn't like it from the first time I played it. Dagger has to be my favourite, but that's probably because it's the only map that has a nice sunny day (reminds me of Borderlands, actually) so I'm sure that makes me like it more.

One of the common comments I see is that certain hack objectives (a lot of them set up by yours truly) are hard/unfair/difficult to hold down. Now, I'm admittedly a sucker for a bit of punishment on the player not necessarily being a bad thing. I feel that if a level has one or two (out of a good few more) objectives that could come up that is more difficult to complete, it adds a bit to the tension of what objective could be coming up, and succeeding feels a bit sweeter.
With that in mind, I'd like to ask:

Do you feel objectives that are harder than others/require more effort are detrimental to your experience overall?

Some hack/download objectives like Reactor center, Goddess hall, London center they're just not fair. Especially Thessia(old version) and London - absolutely no cover, enemy spawns right in front of you and you have to hold it without moving 2-5 minutes. It's not fair, it is cheap. Most times people just spam rockets and sometimes even that doesn't help. I don't see hard work from map designers - I can easily make hack spot in open spot without cover, and say that it's challenge for players and they have to enjoy it.

Then Reapers, again it's not viable to hold position vs cheap&cheating banshees, so you have two options -
1) Rocket spam.
2) Distracting mobs with one or two teammates while the others continue hacking. It's almost impossible with randoms.

Most of my map problems are with the DLC maps, im afraid.
Hydra is pretty good.

Condor is my rated 2nd worse map. Theres barely any dcent places to hunker down, and while the hack objectives in this map DO have cover, the 4 devices that need to be hacked are often in corridors of enemies ravelling from their spawn point. Often spotting you and taking you down as soon as you get to the objective sometimes before. Clearing out enemies doesn't work as more spawn and take their place. This is especially seen where the players initial spawn is.

Jade - A decent map until you get the to 4 hackable devices or intel delivery objectives. See problems with condor.

London - Basically a worse version of Condor, with less cover and objectives placed in the middle of the map with no cover and enemies spawning all over the place.
Rio is just glitchy, try to avoid playing that map as much as possible. Lots of console freezing.

Goddess - Has atrociously placed hack objective locations. Especially the ones inside around the fountain. Cover than can be shot over from all sides and enemies that attack from everywhere.

Vancouver is a fine map.

All maps also need 2 grenades per box. Also, alot of the Hack and Extraction circles aren't actually placed in a consistent manner. Some are misshaped, and often have quite a majority of their space outside the playable region, which i consider sloppy placement.

London. Was any playtesting even done above Bronze for those hack points? Nobody likes infinitely respawning enemies. It's much worse when they spawn right on top of you like they do on London. Don't they point this stuff out in Game Design 101 or something? You're not making the game "difficult" in any satisfying manner. You're just wasting everyone's time.

Reactor has to be mine. Ugly map, miserable hacks and a lot of spawn points that can put you in a bad way plus poor sight lines.

I love Goddess and Jade, the one hack circle at the bottom of Goddess is insanely hard on many difficulties. That said, I am mixed on Hydra and dislike London a great deal. I believe there are 2 or 3 hack circles I have seen on there that are just extremely difficult to hold down even with an amazing group of players, so I can imagine how difficult it is for players who are not quite as good.

My only hated map would have to be Rio though. The map is way too long, I have had the most bugs occur on this map, and I dislike the cover on the sides not really protecting you at all. No favorite map for me, I really enjoy most of the original maps and only Goddess and Jade from the DLCs. All the other maps from DLC I have mixed feelings for and except obviously Rio.

Yep. If you're going to let us play with random people and without mics then don't make the game impossible to beat at times without a friends list and a mic.

You are more than welcome. At the end of the day, I'm also just a gamer like everyone here, and growing up interacting with developers while building levels as part of games communities has always been a great thing. That, and ultimately you are the people I'm catering my designs to, so it's good to know what people like and dislike! :)

Not 100% sure on what specifically you're asking, but for the multiplayer levels I work on I usually take care of layout, AI pathing, objectives, ammo placement, and making sure the level performs alright on all platforms.

Reactor (gold) = hate

You can't bunker down anywhere without super super dps. If you split up into 2's, it doesn't matter where you position yourselves because one of those groups will always have an angle that they are vulnerable to attack from. Once the enemies exploit that angle then that group has to retreat which then opens up an angle of vulnerability in the other group which then has to retreat. This keeps going on until you're all packed into a corner and then you're toast.

The above is reliably manageable with friends but not so with PUGs. The LZ is one gigantic "good luck with Lone Survivor" area even if you do decent with your kiting job.

I don't mind that the crates on this map give only a single grenade. I do fairly well making a circuit of the boxes and it forces me to stay on the move on a grenadier class.

Edit: Clarified that I am refering to Gold and above matches on this map

a lot of people on the forum are gonna say it is, but that s because many of these people lost track of what a game is meant for and are only looking for credit
gameplay wise from an objective standpoint, it's a very good, simply because variety in dificulty makes for less boredom , less repetitive
from my point of view: makes the wait to see what objective you get thrilling and set for a good laugh on the mic if you get exactly what your buddy didn't want to get, and completing what would be to you the hardest objective ever on wave 10 platinium feels greater than getting targets and just kill them from across the map with cobras

You like making small grenade intensive maps with easy to turn corners.

My Drell vanguard approves approves. ;)
(Its kinda easy on most of them to just run laps to the ammo boxes as him and pull a top score. Try making some harder corners to navigate. It would make your maps less cheat like for that class.)

Funnily enough, Reactor is my favorite map. The line of sight issues are easy to deal with once you're familiar with it, there's a ton of cover and you can move quickly from any part of the map to any other part of the map. It's especially great on a shotgun infi or the new Slayer.

London is fun except for the hack points, which are hell on Earth.  Er, so to speak.  On almost all of them there seems to be no cover that protects you from all the directions that will spawn. They're only really doable with a coordinated team that controls the spawns/draws off the mobs, or with PUGs that absolutely blow through missiles.

FBW is a nice enough map if you don't camp it, but I despise it because of its association with camping.

I must say I really dislike open maps 'cause AI can't be supressed. No matter what they push forward, like russians ("we have more men than you bullets").

And I'm puzzled on Ghost, like fight there is always up close or at far disctance, almost no middle. I honestly don't know what to do on this map.

I dislike Reactor for several reasons.. Enemies seem to shoot you from angles and areas that just don't make sense and you can't return fire to them or really effectively take cover. The little openings in walls and barriers cause this. Also, come of the enemies will just stand up at the top and shoot down. Reactor makes The Reapers feel worse than Geth because you are forced to bad situations and areas thanks to Banshees and Brutes and the Ravangers seem to like to sit on high ground while the Marauders camp it up in the rafters and the Cannibals just kick it in huge groups for you to be pushed into. No me gusta.
