Miranda - because she's great, and a very useful squadmember. Plus, you know, with the whole Cerberus thing it would've been interesting to see. I think she'd hang out in the CQC maybe, or...the medbay?

Grunt - because he's awesome, and also he's a krogan (I believe he has reaffirmed this fact on multiple occasions). He'd be down in the shuttle bay as Shaleist has said.

Jack - because you need a psychotic biotic. Of course, she'd go back to her hideyhole...as Shaleist also said.

BUT WHERE WOULD KEN AND GABBY MAC??

WELL BE NICER TO ASHLEY!

On Topic:
Miranda - Duh

Some sort of Salarian.  Given that the STG teams are going to join you either way, it would be cool if they sent someone along to help.

Honestly though:
Miranda

Actually Allers completely pointless character, adds practically nothing to your ems, she had waaay too much space, had a nice comfy double bed too. That room should have been occupied by Miranda or Jack.

I think that's why? The bug is related to Ash being alive and some other criteria, whereas I think there's no problem if Kaidan's there.

Anyway, enough of my off-topic derailing.

No returning characters. Bioware have created some absolutely stunning characters that I love to bits, but that's all the more reason to keep writing more of them. Dwelling on the same people each game doesn't make the universe any richer.

I want to meet a Batarian - but not one of the mercenaries, none of the outlaw jerks. We've seen the machismo, the bandits, we know about all that. I think it's time we saw the other side of Batarian society. So I'd add a Hegemony scientist. A proper nerd, sent out as part of a covert reconaissance team to investigate the Leviathan from ME. Sentinel - bit of biotic, bit of tech - but it's curiosity that gets him. Meeting Shepard, Garrus... real life aliens! It's a scientist's dream. Treat him right, and he'll ask to run away with you. Join you to see the stars.

I already have a huge emotional investment in previous characters who have no reason to not join Shepard on the Normandy. No thank you. Rather have at least my LI on board the Normandy.

Agreed, it's always silly when sequels bring back the characters you love from the first couple movies.

...wait, no, the opposite of that.

also... I.  WANT.  MIRI.

Always better when they add new ones!

Imagine if they'd dedicated the Kasumi DLC resources to bringing Wrex back to the Normandy. We'd only have one brilliant character, rather than two! Massive shame.

That's a fair point, but it's the end of the trilogy, ME2 was the higher selling of the two games, and Miri was the cover NPC for that game.
Seriously, A lot of us started with that game, and even though Ash is my avatar, most of my favorite characters are from it.  It's a shame they all get cameos...

I do get that. I really liked Miranda. She was my deputy throughout ME2. Loved Wrex, too, actually, so I wasn't trying to be unfair by mentioning him. I wouldn't be disappointed to see either of them come back. More Miranda's a good thing, more Wrex is a good thing - in fact, it sort of bothers me that this is the only game without a krogan squadmate, so I'd totally be happy to see either of them return.

But at the same time, I can't help but get more excited by the idea that there might be brand new stories being told in the universe. All those characters are good, but their stories are more or less complete. Some of them finished hastily, some of them really well, but I've kind of made peace with all of them. Great if they add to the existing characters, but ask me who I want in the Life Support room and I'd vote for a newbie, every time. It's the Kasumi thing again. The more new faces, the better, for me.

The other thing is - and I think this is the reason Wrex only joined you in ME1, too - any returning squadmate could be dead. Which is huge when you're trying to sell a product, you want as many people to be able to play it right out of the packet as possible. They could go down the Mordin Solus / Padok Wiks route, but that kind of thing's a lot easier to do for a mission or two and a lot harder to do for an entire game. I'm not saying it's not possible - you could choose between them, Chakwas-or-Michel style - but it's a hell of a challenge.

Let me first say:

"Javik and James are OK for 1-dimesional characters"
"Steve and Traynor were acceptable token Gay characters *if you accept token gay characters*"
"Allers is a waste of pixels, carbon, money, space, seconds of all of our precious lives"

SO 2 out of 5 being 'OK' is really making me want to have another tacked on, nobody character with no real emotional or contextual connection to Shepard. It sounds like an absolutely FANTASTIC idea my good man!  No ...really.;)   Also pardon my ****tery, I type with way too much sarcasm sometimes.  This is a prime example.

Constant Motion is right, a nerdy Batarian would be adorkable.

Although we know that genetic engineering to correct eyesight does exist, the Batarian Hegemony supposedly pretends to be more grander and wealthier than it actually is. I'd be surprised that with all the trade embargos, most of the their gear is about 30 years old, while because of the prevalent caste system, most Batarians either can't afford expensive genetic engineering or only the elite are allowed to have it?

Which is my roundabout way of saying, the Batarian scientist needs to be wearing 2 pairs of dorky spectacles.

A bit of an invalid comparison, because if Wrex was center focus then it wouldn't be a Kasumi DLC.

You're more than welcome to try again though.

I think he was talking about in ME2, not ME3.

If she's romanced I see no reason for Miranda to stay in Thane's room.

I mean seriously.

Irrelevant. If DLC X is focused on character Y, then it's Character Y's DLC, not Character Z's. Doesn't matter what game it's in.

Erm....I saved Kaidan and Ash and Kaidan share the same room on the SR-2, for the record.

And, Thane was my bro and he shouldn't haved died like he did in ME3. My Shepard is depressed about that fact....

Ok....I think what he was saying is...

Kasumi DLC was axed and replaced with a Wrex DLC so we never met Kasumi and instead had more of one great character instead of having two great characters.

I think that's what he meant....idk. lol

No, you've got it! That's precisely what I'm saying.

They could, at the stage of Mass Effect 2, have used a squadmate DLC to bring back an old, missed face, if they so chose. I am very glad they did not do that, because the new character was brilliant, and if they'd spent those resources bringing Wrex, for instance, back onto the Normandy the universe would be one fantastic character poorer.

I think the phrase "Kasumi DLC" has confused you, Ventus. I agree with you, it wouldn't be called the Kasumi DLC any more. It'd have a new name. Prisoner of Tuchanka or something. That's kind of aside the point.

I am 100% in favour of this. :D

The Normandy needs a nerd!
