Auto-Dialogue = More natural dialogue flow?

Why? Was everyone in ME1 and 2 a retard who spend 10 seconds in silence staring at the screen before they finally picked a response each time?

HEY! it's not my fault they made the dialog options so small in ME2! i could barely read them!

Buy bigger TV. Practice bird watching. Problem fixed Image IPB

I wouldn't consider 3 choice dialogue in ME2 rare. Somebody go and pull up the P/R guide from the wikia.

I'm highly skeptical, but I'm willing to wait and see. If it's just informative, investigate type questions, I'm fine with autodialogue. If it's deciding for me that suddenly Shepard believes Earth is the most important world in the galaxy, or that I care about some random kid, or even that I'm very close to the VS/Liara/James/whoever for some reason, I can't see it working.

I think it wouldn't have hurt to link the added tweets at the tail end of the current discussion rather than just the front, xsdob.

Weekes is as much apart of the problem as everyone else, I don't get the love for the guy. Did he warn anyone about the lies? Did he stop BioWare from putting a less than best effort forward? What has he done except for play both sides of every argument? Not that he gives answers mind you just generalities at best.

I am sorry, I just...I don't understand why he gets a pass when his hand was on the ships wheel with everyone else, when they ran the franchise aground.

I've typically liked auto dialog... One of the reason Zaeed was so well shown, imo.

He argued for perhaps the one good moment about Priority: Earth, from what I've heard, which was talking with your crew and friends.

Shepard without player input is one of the most boring generic protagonists I ever played.more than the endings auto dialogue with boring generic Sheperdruined the game for me. He wasn't interesting or enjoyable to play. He was a emo lapdog withlittle spine and a barely halfway functioning brain.

This.

I've made posts regarding this issue in other topics: without the dialogue wheel, without our input, Shepard is just a boring, bland, and at times retarded protagonist who really fails to convey the emotion that the developers want us to feel. It's when we feel connected to him, by controlling him, and through our shaping of the relationships between him and other characters, that we really start to care about him and his story.

So, the more control we have over him, the better.

Huh? All I remember of Zaeed was walking in and pressing A on him and getting War Assets!

But seriously, they pretty much ruined all of the air time of their ME2 cast, they were all cameos. It's okay though, THEY GOT ME EDI AND KAIDAN. <_<

So he get a pass because he did something to make the endings tolerable, if he hadn't we would have seen BioWare's "vision" for the failure it was, and we would have been united. He saved them, not us.

I haven't drunk enough tonight.

It's and RPG for ****'s sake.

I can head canon my Shepard's personality off screen jsut fine.

But he shouldn't be flapping his gums and then having to have to make a choice between Being chipper or a jackass.

It seems that all genres of games are getting more and more dumbed down, RPGs as a major one, a close runner-up would be horror games.

That? Was the reason people like him? Its not like he's even being that forthcoming with either answers or hope for better content. He's playing up both sides just trying to build good will for himself, I find that more dishonest than the outright lies of others.

So I guess the notion that Shepard is our character has been completely abandoned, just like "your choices have consequences, which greatly impact the story"..

Yeah that apparently went away with a lot of those customize Shep options, yet they say they want to make DA3 like Skyrim. Right.<_<

So they removed the 'middle' dialogue options that were essentially exactly the same as either the paragon or renegade choices. I personally hardly ever chose those options because of that very reason. I don't think it's anything to get too fussed about since you're not really losing control of Shepard as the dialogue option that is no longer there was always just a slightly reworded version of the paragon or renegade options.

Having the 'flow' during the conversations was admittedly better in ME3 since you don't have those awkward stops and starts in between every sentence that Shepard speaks; even if it's just to say "goodbye" or "hello". In ME1 and ME2; even if you select the option before the conversation actually starts you often still get that little pause and silence.

Just thought I'd provide some balance to the thread seeing as there's a lot of negativity to what seems a fair statement(s) by Mr. Weekes.

I meant in me2.  The auto dialog in ME3 was nothing positive or negative, to me.

It makes me laugh that everyone sucks the Witcher 2's dick, and yet they never critique the auto-dialogue in that game. I played through it, and loved it, but it had even more auto-dialogue than Mass Effect 3 did. In fact, I feel like it served the exact purpose Weekes described, which was to ensure a natural cinematic flow to the conversations. For all the **** we give Mass Effect 3. the dialogue was generally quite strong, and I think the auto-dialogue succeeded to this extent, despite how much people want to ****. The game has far more pressing problems than auto-dialogue so I'm sort of at a loss for why it was ever a big deal.
