The torture cells in Amnesia, with the audio flashbacks, as well as the reveal of why you were amnesiac.
The Broodmother from Awakening.
Some necromorphs from Dead Space, and the "suicide room" in 1 and the bird room in 2.
Suicide room? The woman cutting that body up and decided to cut herself infront of Isaac?
And how was the bird room scary? Nothing happened i don't think. Is that where you got to use the corpse for the scanner?
No. The room full of bodies with bags on their heads that looked like a sect ritual mass suicide/sacrifice. I knew there would be a monster generator on the way back, but I couldn´t make myself to destroy the bodies.
About bird room, the entries from the man: I felt really bad for him, and then I had to use the body to go past the scanner.

It's so rare so fine someone who has played this game! The images that flash upon the screen are really horrific, one that **** me up the most was Carmen dead, her face battered and bloodied. I hope someone can find some of those images that flash on the sceen, like that blurred out image of someones face but two black eyes stick out, looks like Horace...

Calling Walter an a-hole is an understatement. He had to have commited one of the worst c***blocks in gaming history during the previous decade.

There's this Harry Potter one that my friend showed me, where he's seemingly by himself in Potions class, doing experiments, incluing with a pigeon... and a gun. It was pretty messed up, and haunted me for a few months. Then there was this one with Pikachu, where he's in the field playing/running and then gets shot, gruesomely. This was also shown to me, by that same friend, that same day. Didn't bother me so much.
Thanks for that!
I did get the jitters wandering around, alone. A follower helps, especially if you've also got Dog Meat by your side. The scariest for me, was walking through that simulation, where a mysterious voice over explains how the vaults work - I can't remember the name of the location, it's the quest where you help out Three Dog.Hyperglide wrote...
This is gonna sound weird but I'm going to say Fallout 3. You are alone in a vast urban wasteland that is full of nasty's and walking around an empty dilapidated building at night time, where anything can kill you at any moment or pop out around a corner. Even the damn Molerats would startle the hell out of me.
Overall, I find Bethesda games, the most anxiety-inducing of all games, until I get used to them. One thing to note, I don't think I really get that feeling from Skyrim. Maybe I've just played so much, that they no longer really disturb/scare me. Skyrim is the fourth Bethesda game, I've played, after TES:IV, FO3 and FO:NV.

Slender. Oh god slender. D: I was playing it with a friend the other day with the lights out for atmosphere, I got to the corner of the fence turned right just a little bit and he just stepped out from behind a tree. My pulse was pounding. I tried to get away. I couldn't. At that point my friend was screaming in terror, and I was just like "oh****oh****oh****I'mneverplayingthisgameagain". Then I went to turn on the lights. But then they started flickering, and we were already freaked the hell out, so we pretty much started losing it. o_o
You obviously should give the Slenderman $20 and he'll ****** off.

I lol'd.
But honestly, I find this game too repetive. Sure it's scary the first time you play it, but after a few tries, it isn't really that scary.
But back on topic...
Amnesia: Justine. My God this game scare me, even more than "The Dark Decent". The fact that you can't save the game makes it even more frustrating. I remember the first time I played it, I couldn't figure out how to save any of the prisoners and I felt so bad because of this. Also, this:
"Justine, let me taste you"

Silent Hill 2: This game gave me nightmares. Everything from the atmosphere to the monsters and the symbolism just... *shudders* Also, the first time I played it I got the Rebirth ending. I never felt comfortable playing as James after that...

THAT'S the name of the game I was trying to think of! I played that back when it first came out, and I was trying to make a reference to it the other day. I could not remember the name of it, and it was driving me crazy!

Oh man, that abandoned mental asylum was intense - there was that prison guard laying in a padded room that had all four of his limbs chewed off by rats... and he was still alive, making the most awful of guttural sounds. I put him out of his misery.
Then there was that room with inkblot pictures covering the walls - never thought I'd find those as disturbing as I did. I hated how images would flash on the screen for a split second, often showing an inkblot or another disturbing image. Very creepy. Probably one of the most underrated horror games out there.

Yes the images can pop-up randomly and the sound that plays is just so ****ed up. Can you remember the sound when the image is associated with the needle throwers?
The images i hate most was that bloody teddy, the inkblot were not scary but that room you mentioned was (police man in the centre of the room has his eyes pulled out from some device), the picture of a dead Carmen (covered in blood), a very blurry picture of Horace i think but his black empty eye sockets and a very noticable feature in it.
Anyone remember in the asylum when you enter a bathroom and that flashing image pops up with one of the lads being drowned?
Also in the sequel where you enter your own apartment where the murders took place, it would give someone epilepsy. The amount of horrific images constantly flashing. That small apartment was really creepy.
Is someone able to find images of the flashing images? There's quite a lot of them and i would like a better look at them.

The paragraph was about The Suffering and those images are from Silent Hill 4: The Room. Both great horrors and offer really creepy atmospheres.

The Suffering is freeware, you can download it. Which i highly recommend.
It's chock full of screamers, best played at night alone with max volume, the flashing images are all random and can happen at any time and are mostly all violent or gory however some and random but creepy like someone here mentioned the inkblot. There are set images that are related to the story, they are creepy.
SH: The Room is backwards compatible on xbox 360, it's one hell of a ghost story.

Also, if anyone is interested, they released a trailer for a new Silent Hill movie:
www.youtube.com/watch
It looks... alright, I guess. It also has both Ned Stark and Jon Snow in it, together again - Joffrey must be pretty pissed right now.

Poor Eileen - she gets tormented constantly, pretty much throughout that entire game. I still think the first three Silent Hills are far scarier though, particularly the first one. I'll never forget that disturbing alley intro and Midwich Elementary School - something about demon children with butcher knives scares the s*** out of me.

Edit: While we're talking about Silent Hill, I might as well post these two:

No no no no no no. Just no.

Wow, didn't even realize that's who it was. I think I was too busy saying "No No No NO NO, what did they do to Vincent?! THAT'S NOT VINCENT."
Although I do love that they're using music from the games... they did that for the first movie too.
