That sounds awful, thank god i still have my original copies of SH1-4 though.Naughty Bear wrote...

I've never played any of them, but would anyone reccomend the Silent Hill HD collection?
The games are great but i read bad reviews of the HD collection. The update practically removes most of the fog so you can see the limitations of the game, lighting issues etc.
Surprised SH4 isn't in it, why miss it out? The story is really good and is quite sinister.
Most disturbing game youve ever played?

I don't think it was a little girl. It was a woman.
I looked it up and was this what you were refering to?
It might be here, i remember having to crawl through some area, you turn right and just girl or woman suddenly speed crawls into you.
This then?
After looking for the clips of what I was refering to earlier I think I found what you were talking about.

Yes that video! I hated that part, i had to pause it and get a drink. You knew it was going to happen but it still **** me up.
Man i need to play the games again, i had so much laughs just getting **** scared. Invite a couple a of friends, play a chapter each in the dark after 12, max volume surround sound. Great times.

I would play it but I can't even play Dead Space for long periods of time without getting creeped out. Fatal Frame would have me creeped out within a minute and crying in a corner in five.

Why did you post that picture?
I've never been a big fan on ghost stories/game, but "Crimson Butterfly"? Holy smoke was that game creepy.
It is the only horror game that I've ever chickened out on - I will never play it again, or any other games in the series for that matter.
It's ironic, too - all of the other horror games I've played and beaten have some of the most terrifying creatures and other monstrosities imaginable, but it was a game about freakin' ghosts that made this hardened horror vet here walk away in the end. Just goes to show you that the simplest things can be the scariest of them all.

J-Horror, when done right, like say in a video game such as Fatal Frame can be some of the most scariest stuff ever.greengoron89 wrote...

Personally, I never found DS scary, I play a lot of horror and watch just as much. The super natural in my eyes will always be scarier than space zombies.

Also A lot of why Amnesia: Dark Descent is so scary is because of how disturbing it is. The prison and why the Shadow is after you. Plus Alexander's plan *shudders*
The Manhunt games are especially brutal.
And finally that moment in God of War 3 when you stop thinking of Kratos as a tragic anti hero and realize he's just a dick. When he takes that slave girl in Poseidon's chambers and wedges her in a door wheel so he can proceed. Best case scenario the poor woman is stuck there until someone arrives to help (unlikely) worst case scenario she gets too tired to hold it and gets smashed to bits.

Some less obvious choices? Strangely enough some parts of Portal are pretty disturbing. Including the turrets "Are you still there?" also ratman: and this: (the voice actress reportedly burst into tears after recording those lines.)
Majora's Mask (which I played the hell out of as a little kid) also has very disturbing environments and an overall feeling of gloom. The soundtrack doesn't help.

I've never actually finished Thief 3, because eventually, I hit the Shalebridge Cradle.
Goddamn.
Also, parts of Eternal Darkness got to me, as far as jumpy scares go. I distinctly remember a scene where you're exploring the mansion, poking around a bathroom. Suddenly you hear a scream and it cuts - just for a second, the duration of the scream - to Alex in the bathtub covered in blood.
Most of Silent Hill got to me, too, but there was some really good, creepy stuff in SH 3 and 4.

And while "Silent Hill 4" wasn't my favourite of the series, it did have some creepy moments: www.youtube.com/watch
And then there's this room:

This thread has actually gotten me in the mood for a good horror game - I'm looking into a few titles in particular. I happen to have a, err, "Gamecube" that I acquired recently off of the Internet, and I could, err, "find" a copy of Eternal Darkness for me to play on it.
Looking at Condemned: Criminal Origins as well - I've heard good things about it and I like the idea of facing people instead of monsters like in so many other horror games.

Ah yes, the "bleeding" room - I remember it well. I also remember that room with the mannequins where you hear a loud scream when you try to leave the room, then when you go back to look a mannequin's head has been chopped off and it's covered in blood. Always a lovely sight.

I would reccomend Condemned:CO.. I wouldn't say its as disturbing or scary as some of the games mentioned here. You do get to smack warbling drug addicts in the face with steel pipes and stuff though. The best part is examining the elaborate crime scenes.

there are some twisted moments in the storyline for Deadly Premonition. It's a horror game parody but there's still some "WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED THERE! THAT'S F'D UP" situations in that game.
This is true, and you can say that bolded phrase out loud for the entirety of the game. But when things start falling into place... good gravy.
Although I have to admit, a red herring shocked me the most, not in a disturbing way, but.... when a certain character mimics the Raincoat Killer's trademark finger waggle, complete with music, it had me thinking that this silly weirdo was the guy I'd been running from the whole game.
And for those who've never played the game, (and hell, those that have) here's a taste of the wackiness:

Yeah, I remember that room... I want to play the Silent Hill games again but my PS2 broke years ago and the local retailer here doesn't have the PC versions.
I've always wanted to try out the Fatal Frame games but they weren't available here when I still had my PS2.
