Al's the good guy who really needs to learn to be a little bad.
You end up being one's redemption and the other's corruption.

Nope, unfortunately. You get a wussy lesser noble named Dairren. You can't even flirt with Gilmore. Though I lost all respect for him since he was rather useless against a bunch of rats. Dog and I did most of the work.

I just met the Dairren guy, did nothing for me. Oh well, Al's lampost is the only lampost for me then. Now to just get through this whole Highever thing and get to Ostagar asap to hear his sweet voice again.

Still.... I want at least one of my characters to end up with Zev, though. Alistair just makes me laugh and Zev doesn't.
Ha! I was actually talking about real life with my husband being the puppy, but yeah Alistair works too!
Actually, Zev says some funny things just not as obvious and as often as Alistair. If you are romancing him, he will tell you a naughty poem that is hillarious, especially considering how he learned the poem.
You just get the poem when he gets to adore if you're not romancing anyone else. I find that very interesting about this game. You can have sex with both Zev and Alistair no problem as long as it's not serious with Zev. You just can't have two PCs adore you (or love you). The jealousy is not in the sex, it's in the feeling.

Ali prefers you to not be a virgin. You get a higher approval is you've licked a lamppost. Think about Ali's personality -- there's no way he'd prefer a virgin!
Hmmm, I hope I don't incur the wrath of the Ali fan girls for that.

I think he's got a lie detector (or is bugged) because when I told him I had never licked a lampost when I had bedded Darrien I got a +1 from that conversation, but when I said I never licked a lamppost and only told Darrien I'd like to spend some time with him when he returned from the war I got a +4.
You get +5 if you've licked the one

Alistair doesn't prefer virgins? I didn't know that. I just assumed since he was one he would prefer to be with someone with no experience just like him. Unless, of course he's looking for someone to teach him.

I think its a bug, because I got no approval boost at all when I said I licked only the one, and I got a +2 when I said I licked many and then some... maybe the approval is keyed to one of the other lines you pick or is combined somehow?
I just got a frown and "thats... um... disturbing" when I said I licked many and then some. Cant remember any approval. But then he is so easy to get approval with I might have been at 100 already at that point. Doesnt take much to have him drool all over any girl does it?

1) Female noble PC/Alistair - 100% romance approval between the two....Alistair is hardened..happy ending
2) Female noble PC/Alistair...100% romance approval between the two...Alistair is hardened...support Anora however from the get go....PC and Alistair run off to rebuild the Grey wardens and he never leaves his side...happy ending
3) Female Noble PC/Alistair..100% romance approval between the two...Alistair is hardened..make him marry Anora....stay his consort/lover.../meh happy ending
Male scenario - either noble you be King, Alistair King and you be his chancellor/best friend, or the two of you run off and adventure together/rebuild the wardens....happy endings
Which brings me to my question /head spinning.
In scenario 2, is is better to have Alistair be hardened even though you are going to rebuild the Wardens together and ride off into the sunset? i.e he likes the idea or keep him unhardened which makes him not really care what he does?
Just so many conflicting reports. The game is large so to go through it and in the end have a craptastic ending would be disappointing.
You guys/gals are great.....any help is appreciated. (As we can see I'm looking for thr happiest PC/Alistair endings possible)

If she betrays you (especially twice!!) he will NOT want her to be queen at all, hard or soft.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but also if he is hardened you don't actually get a choice in the matter, do you? If he's hardened he insists on becoming king, you don't get a say in it, if I remember it right. I was an elf though, so maybe its different for a human.

You have left out my favorite:
4) Human noble dumped Alistair, at 100 friendly, marries him anyway (after all, she's a Cousland and so a better match than Anora -- many felt Bryce Cousland should be king therefore a marriage with her would make the nation stronger than had Alistair married Anora). Let Alistair know that you would be trying to make an heir from someone OTHER than him. Stay with Zevran who sticks with you and try to make that heir.
The people are still delighted with how much Alistair seems to adore his bride. Zevran sticks with you, at least for a time if you stay around. He stays with you forever if you decide to rebuild the gray wardens. You become chancellor and are definitely the true power of the nation and also get to dash Arl Eamon's political ambitions to be in that spot (as revealed by Anora if you talk to her).

Gasp! Arl Eamon wants to usurp Alistair to become king? That lying old man! And after I sent Jowan to the fade to save him too! (I know I'm probably the only one who liked Jowan, I'm a softy).

He doesn't. Think about him a minute, not the pretty words, but his basic personality. He likes having someone strong in the lead, and that someone NOT being him. I also get the feeling that virginity is not so highly regarded in Ferelden. Not all men want the responsibility of being a woman's first, especially if they care about the woman.

Yes, you do have a say. I only had one ending where none asked me for opinion, and in that one I let him kill Loghain if I remember correctly. In others I was asked by Eamon what is my opinion and I got 4 options - make Al king, make Anora queen, make myself queen with him in human noble origin, make them two marry each other.
I have him hardened in all those games.

No! He wants to be the power behind the throne. According to Anora, Alistair being kept from court had much to do with Eamon. Of course, Loghain says it had to do with Merric's concerns about Cailin.
Alistair is a pawn in a political game. Loghain asks the most pertinent question at the landsmeet -- who will be pulling the strings of the puppet king. He's relieved after you beat him because he believes you are the one who will be actually ruling.
