Gasp! Arl Eamon wants to usurp Alistair to become king? That lying old man! And after I sent Jowan to the fade to save him too! (I know I'm probably the only one who liked Jowan, I'm a softy).

No!  He wants to be the power behind the throne.  According to Anora, Alistair being kept from court had much to do with Eamon.  Of course, Loghain says it had to do with Merric's concerns about Cailin.

Alistair is a pawn in a political game.  Loghain asks the most pertinent question at the landsmeet -- who will be pulling the strings of the puppet king.  He's relieved after you beat him because he believes you are the one who will be actually ruling.

Yeah, but taking Anora's word for anything makes me ill.  And Loghain's biased because he considers Arl Eamon an Orlesian sympathizer.  However, I was Chancellor, so Eamon retired and gave Redcliffe to Teagan.

You might like this if you haven't seen it. I rolled.

OMG, that is so funny!  Image IPB And right in front of his girlfriend too.  Shameless.  I always wondered though why he didn't ever have feelings toward the female pc.  I don't remember ever seeing that dialogue choice.

I chose that the last time. I was playing a flirt. Got Cullen to run away in terror, too.

You're right; Anora is a liar and could be just trying to get you against Eamon.  And Loghain was right that Eamon was an Orlesian sympathizer.  That's why I think he was so relieved at the thought of the PC being the one with the strength to rule.  Alistair didn't even have the strength to marry who he wanted except when it was a Cousland, whom he should marry anyway to cement his approval.  Anora just wanted power for its own sake, but she still had no noble blood, and was selfish beyond reason (appalling that she wouldn't marry and make an heir because she clung to the memory of her father).

Cullen is too cute, and that stuff he says about you when he's trapped during the mages circle quest is priceless. Image IPB

Edit: He's too cute with the exception that he was going to lop off your head if you hadn't passed that whole fade test.  Other than the head lopping thing though, he's adorable. Image IPB

Uh, yeah, Electra Complex much?  (Female version of Oedipal)

The Orlesian thing is one reason I don't sacrifice myself or Alistair and take Morrigan's deal.  The most likely place to rebuild the GW's comes from Ferelden's former enemy, after all.  BAD IDEA.

Yeah, there's no way I'll make her queen.  She's too manipulative.  Who knows maybe she was batting her eyelashes and getting her father to do what she wanted as well for his little princess?  She could have been the true evil the whole time with her daddy just jumping through the hoops for her like poor Cailan.  Anora = Dark Side X10.

The funny thing is that guy players are so into those 2 women.  It's weird.  My husband was so smitten by Anora he wanted to dump Morrigan for her.  I guess digitally deceptive batting eyelashes will turn real-life guys into obedient puppies as well. Image IPB

My husband laughs at at me for falling in love with Zevran.  He did not fall for Anora, though.  My husband is a pragmatist, though; maybe that's why I find Zevran so appealing.  I outgrew the pretty words with no real substance years ago

Yeah, well... unlike Lel and Morrigan, Zev and Alistair require rescuing from themselves.  Anora and Isolde just like to stand by and wring their hands.  If the guys want to rescue someone, they're kinda SOL with Lel and Morrigan.  I've never gotten the impression either one of THEM needs rescuing.

Well, Lel does do better if you wake her up.  She actually is more my husband's type, though he doesn't like her preachiness.

I'm pretty sure some aspects of her character reminded my husband of me. (Shoes!) Which is probably why he liked her over Morrigan. But waking her up isn't rescuing her.

Morrigan, definitely not.  She scares me.  I think she's secretly Flemeth in disguise.  But maybe Lelliana.  That whole Marjolaine (sp?) quest.  Sort of.  I know you can also reassure her that she's not a cold-hearted killer, so I guess you can sort of save her from herself too.

By the way, how on earth do you upload your character?  I'm trying to get my new female human noble's portrait to upload but I'm not doing something right. Image IPB

I can't help either. For some reason, the only thing that uploads for me after my first playthrough and first couple levels on my second are my achievements. It's a known problem.

I, too, am on the 360 .. and it updates sporadically at best. Three of my characters that are listed have finished the game and since been deleted, but still read as level 7 or what not. It is weird.

I had problems with things uploading and I had to modify my .ini file. That helps. However, it kept trying to upload a character I had deleted.

You have left out my favorite:

4) Human noble dumped Alistair, at 100 friendly, marries him anyway (after all, she's a Cousland and so a better match than Anora -- many felt Bryce Cousland should be king therefore a marriage with her would make the nation stronger than had Alistair married Anora).  Let Alistair know that you would be trying to make an heir from someone OTHER than him.  Stay with Zevran who sticks with you and try to make that heir.

The people are still delighted with how much Alistair seems to adore his bride.  Zevran sticks with you, at least for a time if you stay around.  He stays with you forever if you decide to rebuild the gray wardens.  You become chancellor and are definitely the true power of the nation and also get to dash Arl Eamon's political ambitions to be in that spot (as revealed by Anora if you talk to her).

I did this in one play through. It was funny. He's so confused after Landsmeet. He gets so terse if  you tell him you'll be an awesome Queen. lol. I always take the chancellor spot, even if I'm Queen. Eamon needs to go imho. He's nice, but it is clear he has too much influence for an Arl. And his relationship with Alistair is rocky. Alistair doesn't need that . And my noble does not like he married an Orlesian.

what changes do you make?  I suppose I should google this.  I'm on playthrough 8, and I'd like for SOME of those to show up!

Yeah, on my second playthrough on the pc nothing except for achievements uploaded.  I had started a character and decided I didn't like it, so I made another character and only the first one uploaded.  Even after deleting that one the second one never would upload.  Oh well, I'll just stick with my Aribeth portrait, I guess.

Damn. This isn't the thread I used but it might have some helpful info.

http://social.biowar...58/index/360524

Some people there say deleting the DragonAge.ini file will recreate the file and fix the problems. However, I changed two triggers in my file and things worked. I'll have to tell you later unless someone else can give you the answer. I don't have my laptop and harddrive with me to tell you which changes I made.

Oh, I'm glad I'm not the only one. If you post the triggers to change that would be fantastic. If you can't recall, I'll try deleting the .ini and hope that fixes something. Mine hasn't updated since launch week. I got up to Lothering and freed Sten, and that was the end of it. Three playthroughs later and no updates.

If you are bypassing the DA Launcher, you will not get updates other than achievements. I noticed this when I was using the console, and then would sometimes use the original shortcut (which is to dalauncher.exe, as opposed to daorigins.exe).

In other news, Alistair is still awesome.
