I love you. I'm always magic/healers hybrids in MMOs. I just have this need to be protected by a big strong man and his shield.

*furiously jots down notes*

Is your shield big enough? Has to be to stop all the magical attacks and the like.

"has to be big"

Oh good.  I was afraid I had it all wrong!

I think he's got a lie detector (or is bugged) because when I told him I had never licked a lampost when I had bedded Darrien I got a +1 from that conversation, but when I said I never licked a lamppost and only told Darrien I'd like to spend some time with him when he returned from the war I got a +4.

it actually depends on the dialouge tree you picked. Did you come straight out and say sex first time, second time or play dumb until the end? and did you pick the same dialouge choices afterwards or not?

sometimes just saying one *little* thing different nets you anywhere from +1 to +8 affection

Oh, the only reason I know that the licked lamppost once got me an extra point is I used the magic of reload to test! Everything else was the same.

i know, i did it several times just to see the dialouge options Image IPB

that's also why i know some trees give a huge difference depending on what you say. i'll have to reload that specific conversation myself again just to double check. you know, just for...the science of it all. yup. Image IPB

I will admit, I've fallen to the allure of the all powerful reload at time.  Some things are just to great to not try.

It's not just shield size, but how it's used, too.

In this game. I don't think so. All the shields here are small things. Nothing I could consider being hefted up and armed by the paladin in my mind.

Bummer. You've got this tall guy decked out in this heavy armor and an itty bitty round shield. Or at the very largest, a Redcliffe Elite Shield. It looks a little odd, to me.

But hey, it still works. ;)

A tower shield wouldn't really work well with any of the animations this game uses for shields.

True.  I just thought that little Havard's Aegis (or whatever it's called) was odd looking.

yeah but with some of those larger shields you wouldn't be able to attack with them would you? the small and medium shields are better for bashing people's faces in.

Shoutout to Bomfy my twin.

I think Loghain deliberately left Cailan to die because of a combination of many things. There was the fight about Anora, Cailan's insistence of bringing in Orlesian help, and his fascination with the Grey Wardens. When Cailan was constantly "Grey Warden this, Grey Warden that" over the battlemap, it was the final straw that broke.

Maybe after Loghain left Cailan to die, he finally calmed down and regretted acting on impulse. But it was too late and he had to continue with his plans.

No. , Loghain could not have acted on impulse because it was better planned out than an impulse.  A character with high cunning will point out to Alistair that there was no reason for the darkspawn to be in the tower unless they knew about the plan to begin with and were sent there.  Arl Eamon was poisoned at Loghain's order a week before.  And the Couslands were brought down (assumedly with Loghain's knowledge and consent seeing as Howe became his advisor) a couple of weeks prior as well.

This is the first time I'd seen this anywhere.... Obviously my pc did not have high enough cunning to point out something I thought was fairly obvious. I kept waiting through the whole game for someone to explain how/why Loghain had been conspiring with the darkspawn, but no one ever mentioned it!

Archdemon: *ROARS*
Loghain: So, I'm planning to betray the king, want to help me?
Archdemon: *tilts head to side inquisitively*
Loghain: All your darkspawn need to do is take over a tower, and keep a couple of meddling kids from lighting a beacon
Archdemon: *roars happily*
Loghain: Yes, I know you like nice high towers

Cool thread btw, on topic:
I <3 Alistair!

This is hilarious, but all it would take is knowing that the darkspawn were in tunnels beneath the Tower of Ishal, and then having his men open it to them.  No actual talking to the darkspawn needed, although they are obviously intelligent creatures.

I've thought about it a lot, and while Loghain from the books was at least somewhat relatable, I could not fathom Loghain's motivations in the game at ALL.  It made no sense to spare him, never will.

Alistair, on the other hand, is someone I relate to in many ways.  I tend to defer to other people in social settings, but that doesn't mean I'm a complete pushover, or don't have my own opinion.  I'm just not a leader (mostly I'm a loner unless I force myself, honestly), and I'm fine with that, unless someone mistakes me for being a wimp or weak because I'm easygoing.  Then I get pissy, and nobody wants to see that.

Anyway, I just wanted to remind everyone that loving Alistair is like enjoying sunshine, the laughter of babies, or kitten macros.  :o

Alistair's voice and accent are absolutely hot. I dig his hair as well. And his neck. Why can't my PC kiss and bite his neck? Reowr.

I think it was more of creating the opportunity, like you said, Zombie.

And yes, men who like action figures are my weakness.  ;)

I have definitely bought guys action figures as gifts to win their affection in real life.  Sadly, they were not as enthusiastic as Alistair when I presented the gifts.  SIGH.  I need to find better quality nerds.
