Why not?

Because this game is for everyone and like it or not, everyone is entitled to join whichever public lobby the game randomly puts them into. You want to kick them after that, fine, that's up to you. But it's not fair to impose a limit of which difficulty players are "allowed" to play on simply because they're new to the game. After all, you and I were both that person once.

Stop being such an elitist. It's bad form, chap.

Not really. Most multiplayer games GATE ACCESS to higher difficulties for PUGs because CARRIES SUCK. They take fun out of the game for better players and prevent the carry from learning how to play better.

and how do you reach this conclusion by arbitrarily kicking someone without even having seen them play yet? Seen players with some of the best gear in game who fail at almost everything they do, gear alone does not tell you of a player's skill.

The OP, and similar posts in the past, essentially advocate the rule that "anyone worse than me shouldn't be allowed to play my preferred difficulty"

What I am advocating is that people prove their skill and determination to better their skill by proving themselves first at lesser difficulties.  A model that is followed quite successfully by other games, to the delight of their playerbase.

Right. And your model might exclude me from playing Platinum, but naturally it wouldn't exclude you, only people who are worse than you are.

I agree, gear does not determine skill.  Someone could have spent $5000 on PSPs back when you could do that.   My idea was for a certain number of wins on Gold difficulty.

No one would be excluded, they would simply have to "level up" first.

But I haz no friends :'(
How does one find them?

If only there was some way to prevent just anyone from joining a lobby!  To make the lobby private exclusive so that only people that met my standard could join!

IF ONLY!

*sigh*

Alas, maybe someday this dream of mine will become a reality.

I think that players who want to play Platinum should have the Unwavering achievement unlocked. I usually play Plat with friends but yesterday I decided to go random. I saw way too many N7 under 50 players. I'm not at an N7 snob, but really? Your Locust IV is NOT gonna help this team.

I can't think of any sort of gating that would matter in ME3. Nothing we earn is skill based, I mean maybe if this was PvP we'd have revelant stats and maybe if weapons and mods werent random but instead issued and unlocked by completely certain criteria like X amount of headshots, X grenade kills, trick shots, and lone wolfing.

Maybe, then maybe you could gate it.

People act like they are better than CoD players here, like CoD is a bad game. Sadly, it's very obvious that they they know who to make a multiplayer game with relevant unlock systems and playlist gating. Halo does good as well.

This is a terrible idea. All the scrubs from Platinum will go back to Gold. (I don't do Platinum) :)

I work and play at odd and differing hours, making it difficult to find a steady group of friends to play with sadly.

OP, when you pay for my console, game, internet, and Xbox LIVE subscription, then you can tell me how to play the game, on what difficulty, on what class, with what weapon. But, since I've payed for those things, YOU can't tell me how to play MY GAME.

/thread.

Yes I love this idea. We should give you complete and total discretion to decide who does and does not play platinum, and in the meantime if you feel that they aren't using their weapons to full potential you should be allowed to strip them of their weapons. This will take care of anyone who isn't good enough to play the game, because you are clearly the god over all things ME3 MP.

If you come into a platinum undergeared with a poorly specced character people will boot you anyway, and you will be wasting the team who is trying to forms time, as well as your own.

Wouldn't solve your problem , plenty of people can get carried through gold, and plenty of people do get carried. If you make a public game , then it needs to be public, we don't need separate lunch counters here.

I am not seeking a perfect system just a better one that does not involve 30 minutes of booting people to find a decent group.

"If you come into a platinum undergeared with a poorly specced character people will boot you anyway, and you will be wasting the team who is trying to forms time, as well as your own." Who defines that though? I've seen some people who use lesser gear because the store drops nothing for them, and what makes a character poorly specced? Just because the specc's might not work for you doesn't mean that someone else might not absolutely wreck the enemies with it.

OP -

ME3 was my first multi-player.  When I first started, I found a nice group called the Bronze Effect for casual players.  Through this group I found quite a few nice players to friend and game with.  I now primarily play Silver, but will play Gold and Platinum with friends.

Start a group.  Call it "Platinum Players" Image IPB  Make a cool banner and come to this forum and let people know about it.  There are what - 100K + players for each platform?  You can indicate which timzone you're in etc.  I'm sure you'll find a ton of people to join your group.

I know this is quite a bit more work than simply complaining about the noobs ruining your game - but I think you'll find it much more constructive.

So instead you want the entire game altered and people excluded from play so that your choice of lifestyle can be catered to....

Honestly, you can tell if your platinum group is worth a damn by Wave 3/4.  If they're not, everytime you go down, just bleed out, once that match is up, make a mental note of whom not to play with and who you do want to play with.

My worst platinum runs have yielded some of the most fun/interesting people to play with from all around the world... because we had something in common, we both hated the scrubs that ruined that platinum run for us.

So... here's the formula.  Play with everyone, assess who sucks and who doesn't, plug your mic in, talk trash with the other non-crap player(s) about the scrub(s), invite them as a friend.

If you did that, by the end of a week or two you should have at least 2 friends in most major cities around the world :)

If you dont like my inferior weapons, characters, equipment then go start a private lobby problem solved... Pubs are just that public, who the frack are you to try to limit what anyone can do in a pub???? This just shows a level of elitism that others have mentioned "be like me or you shouldnt play on my level

"PLAY PRIVATES AND WE WONT HAVE TO HEAR YOUR DRABLE...

That is another excellent idea, and thank you for taking the time to post it.  Perhaps I will give that a try.  It certainly can not be any more time consuming then this (and I bet I get less hate pm's from people I have booted too!)

Lots of games have the hardest difficulties locked for the start. You have easy and normal, then you have to beat the game to unlock hard and insane. Why should the co-op mode be different?
