The difference is that warriors have somewhat less single target damage potential, but they make up for it by removing the positioning requirement and being able to skillspam better with deathblow. To me, it's not nearly as much fun, but the damage is certainly good.

Ahh, this makes sense. I bet in the end dual wielding wars end up getting better dps because you don't need to waste much time positioning them and they can get right to it while being attacked, even.

/shrug. Maybe. A rogue doesn't have to backstab if he doesn't want to, and he can still raise strength, use full-sized weapons, and attack just like the warrior. He won't have deathblow, but with Feast of the Fallen and some help from the group to get some free backstabs in he can still keep up the damage. They're definitely both competitive.

They are pretty competetive. Rogue pretty-much wins out on single-target DPS, but like others have said - Warriors are able to skill-spam a lot more, which means more AOE damage with Dual-Weapon Sweep and Whirlwind (and Low Blow in Awakening). Since talents do not factor rune-damage into the equation, a Warrior with two full-sized weapons will hit for more damage with talents than a rogue. Rogues, however, can backstab with +damage runes on their daggers at super speed. Its pretty-close all round. I just like playing Warriors, and Spirit Warrior is... pretty insane as a a spec. Also one of the only warrior specs that goes well with archery.

archer specialization would be overpowered
Well, the vanilla game has no way, at the moment, to enchant arrows & bows with runes, or to poison or coat arrows. That's why I think an arcane archer class, with those abilities, or perhaps to temporarily enchant bows and arrows in other ways, might make for a good specialization that complements "base" archery - without permanently overpowering it.

That might work. Only issue I can see with it is (maybe) Bioware was subverting it by giving the ability to use different arrows with different benefits. Also, I don't really see runes making a huge difference one way or another. It seems a little bit useless to me to add an entire specialization that will ultimately end up adding about 1-5 elemental damage per hit when your base hit is about 120 anyway. I guess it makes sense though, and I have seen mods that let you use runes in bows.

I don't think so. Too bad.
