Of course a game that came out five years ago--and was Bioware's first entry in the Mass Effect franchise and first game developed on current generation hardware--is going to have issues. Is it acceptable that after five years of extra development experience, with Mass Effect 2's accomplishments, that Bioware come out with Mass Effect 3 as it is?

To me, it isn't. Sure, Mass Effect 1 had issues, but that doesn't excuse or negate the issues with Mass Effect 3. If anything, it makes them less excusable. It's a good game, but it's nowhere near the game it could have been. Poor combat in Mass Effect 1 doesn't make fetch quests or plot holes in Mass Effect 3 excusable.

This thread is very provocative for Mass Effect 1 fans, just like peanut butter.

What do you want me to say, OP?

I'm not trying to flame bait. I'm trying to say that any game could be made to look bad if it's nitpicked enough. Which is something I feel Mass Effect 3 is a victim of. Should of I stated that in the OP? Yes. But it would be too little too late at this point.

The difference is, you don't have to nitpick much to point out that ME3 is a poor game.

but its actually a good game....lol

And yes....a lot of the people complaining about ME3 are literally nitpicking....."why didn't I get my reunion?!....where's the blue babies....or Tali's house....why can't we win through conventional.means? synthesis is an abomination! Why does destroy have to kill the Geth?! This is a bad game because I didn't get all the things I wished for. And when that happens it means the game sucks! Waaaah"

Well, I for one consider the Vigil scene to be the most impressive and atmospheric in the entire trilogy.
I'm replaying ME1 again and I'm at the point where I go to Ilos. Can't wait!

Vigil is a Deus Ex Machina......

Figures, its ME1, it doesn't count, its only "bad" in ME3.

Don't get me started at the Fifth Fleet at the Citadel DEM, caused by a plot hole with Joker at Ilos.

"As it is" Mass Effect 3 is one of the best games to come out this year. I genuinely loved playing it, and I didn't stumble upon many of the bugs people talked about. Gameplay wise Mass Effect 3 was a vast improvement. Story wise, it almost comes close in my opinion. Both games had their slow moments, it's just that ME3's slow moments were much worse. It's great moments were just as good as ME1's, in my opinion.

So you don't find the reptitive-always-the-same side missions in ME1 worse then the fetch quests in ME3? They're on about the same level of disdain for me.
