I think people who claim ownership of demolisher pylons when they are not themselves playing the demolisher are being a bit outrageous. The other two powers demolishers have are grenade powers, and there's no reason that anyone else needs to take priority over the demolisher.

I mean, I love pylons as much as anyone, but "you're a support class" is not carte blanche to treat people like crap.

I got no problem with sharing. It's people that camp on my pylon that kills me.

Most of the time I just have to set up a new pylon away from them.

In short the demo's abilities revolve around grenades, unlike the vast majority of classes his powers are finite and his effectiveness is limited because of this. Now sure i could forgo all my grenades and give them to other people, but at what cost? Do you know how effective a demo is without grenades on platinum? A grenade-less demo might as well be a dead demo. It is in the team’s best interest for the demo to take the grenades from the supply pylon, and any team oriented player would recognize that. Unfortunately many people in this thread don't get that concept. I will give you ammo and i will give you left over grenades, other than that use logic, use the ammo crates outside.

It's like hitting my head against a brick wall, this whole thread has been full of demolishers using straw man arguments, I literally read the entire thread just now, there were about 5 people who suggested that some other classes were just as good with grenades and sharing would be good for them.

Here is the kicker though: No one in this thread ever said that demolishers had to give up all their grenades, at most they asked for a spare one here or there.

lol support.

a single demolisher is more effective using his grenades than any other teammate with grenades.

i play it so that i have 4 grenades each cycle, and i use them constantly, yet often still have some left over. rarely do anyone else try for them.

as it is a demolisher will likley never go for ammo boxes, so you non pylons can get your own =P

I would say that you should definitely keep grenades to yourself for the most part, but I think in a tight spot if your allies need some and can't get to an ammo box (hack for example) then if you have less need of them, you can give them up to some others.

These players were clearly looking for an easy way to get ammo/grenades because they can't be bothered to run to an ammo box, while I think its understandable to use a demo's pylon in certain circumstances, these people were just hogging your pylon.

I think the introduction of the Demolisher has made some players attitudes change and they now think it's acceptable to never get grenades the old-fashioned way.

My HFS uses grenades. BANG BANG BANG BANG! Love em.

As far as I am concerned it is up to me to run around and use the ammo boxes kindly provided by the janitor of the various buildings etc to refill my supply. It would be nice if the janitor had left a few more in each box so I don't have to visit several boxes to get all four filled but they are very busy cleaning up all the blood, guts and dead bodies littering up the place. Reaper blood is hard to get out, and those damn Ravagers leave a right mess.

On a serious note, I have no idea if I visit a pylon I would be taking away from the owners ability to destroy stuff so try to keep away from them. Ammo boxes and Thermal Clips seem to get me through. Somehow we managed without their pylon before, don't see why we cannot manage now.

i cant relate because when i play the game i play with a full team. two demolishers and two of whatever else people want to play. the point of demolishers in the games i play is so people dont have to make ammo runs during waves. if you dont want people taking "your" ammo go find your own corner somewhere else on the map and plant your pylon there. just dont expect people to come revive you when you go down. you cant not be a team player in a co-op game and then expect other people to be team players.

I play the Krogan sentinel all the time ( incinerate-free build ) and they can only shoot and throw grenades.  But the Krogan is a sentinel and has better health, melee etc.   And I also play a human soldier that is concussive shot free.  Those classes have something going for them besides guns and grenades.  I don't go into a match thinking I can spam grenades, particularly if there is another grenade user on the team.  You take away grenades from a demolisher and you diminish their damage output, its just that simple.

This is a weak argument. Demolisher can roll, Krogans can't. Demolisher can decide to pop a portable ammo box that boosts shields and offensive power wherever she wants, other classes can't. And any grenade class without grenades left have a diminished damage output that's a fact. Also you don't go into a match with a pure grenade class thinking you can spam grenades at will if there are other grenade classes, OK but why is the demolisher any different then ?

This thread is just pure whining against selfish people from other selfish people who don't understand what playing in a team is. Or just don't want to see that there are many ways to replenish grenades or that it's actually possible to communicate so that everyone gets their supply.

Got Demolisher few days before the event started, had the opportunity to put it into field run in the operation.

The idea of support is fairly situational and flexible to me personally. While my teammates are in close by covers I would drop the Pylon as close to our central area as possible to make sure everyone get enough supply to hold out the heavy fires, this might change if there are just too many enemies, and my teammates are not dishing out enough fire powers to push them back, and my nades counts are hitting the bottom line, then you kind of know it time to shift the pylon, and start doing some serious bombing. Then there are also situations where my team mates are slightly more dispersed across the map, and I had to hold up certain key locations, then you really wanted to keep that pylon close. I have also run into situations where we have a destroyer abroad, with nade prinarily focused upgrade, then I just plunk my pylon next to him, and watch the fireworks goes off, while I hog one of the ammo box and cover the rest.

While we are not necessarily nade factories, nor are we selfish grenadiers, it just how we act according to the situation. ;)
At the end of the day each class can be both supportive or offensive up front, it all depend on how you work with your team, and act according to the situation, there are no solid rules here, just teammates who are willing to communicate and support each other.

I mostly see the Pylon as shield restoration. It's ammo rate is too low to support more than one person so I'd just rather travel to a crate.

And besides, Demolishers get the best Grenades. Why would you deny the Demolisher Honing Grenade spam? It's about the most effective boss killer ability besides Smash.

With that said, because they only have grenade powers, Demolishers are formidable shooters, having the freedom to bring in a reegar/Piranha and a Typhoon at the same time with little penalty because they don't care about power cooldowns. Demolisher damage isn't just grenade damage, and the Demolisher that just relies on doing damage by only throwing grenades is a crappy Demolisher.

Yes, on FBWGG of all places. It was glorious. The pylons looked like a messed up version of the oylmpic rings with their buff fields on the floor. Nothing but unmerciful carnage on the choke points. At one point all of the homing grenades heading towards a single prime looked like some batpoop crazy water balloon fight. The escort objective looked like a moble cloud of electrical death melting all in it's path. Space Jesus is most pleased. :innocent:

Hardly surprising, FBW is the definitive camping map after all and that room is so tiny that they'll all be ridiculously grouped up making it probably the easiest method to farm, even on Platinum.

That said, I haven't played a game with all 4, i've only done a FBW Platinum with 2 Demolishers and even then it was trivial for us.

I admit it was a bit derpy, but sometimes its fun just to crush your enemies in a ridiculous over the top manner. This clip from Billy Madison is such an example:

Since the grenades are the Demolishers only offensive power, I agree with OP. Anyway here is a tip to the OP, as soon as the cool down ends re-deploy your pylon. Because each time you re-deploy you receive a grenade.

Umm... many people made blanket statements "You're a support class" while stating Demolishers are supposed to supply everyone else with grenades.

I think I speak for the vast majority of Demolishers when I say all we ask  is that we're given priority over our grenades. If we're nowhere near our pylon then take them, otherwise they go to waste. If we're camped out (near our pylon) on an elevated position that provides good overwatch and we're spamming grenades on top of enemies, ask first.

There are other situations we can cover, but the bottom line is the Demolisher has priority and use common sense.

Exactly, and saying you expect to be supported takes some serious audacity. The Demolisher's main priority is to demolish, not be everyone else's bi***.

I'm sorry, when I can throw 11 Arc grenades in a row, coupled with Disruptor ammo, how about you back off? Had a Vorcha Sentinel in my FBWGP (yes I was farming, sue me) match CONSTANTLY taking the ammo for both my Harrier (Cause I basically have none anyway, and he had a Hurricane), AND my grenades, and there were only 2 of us using them.

Dammit man, GO TO THE AMMO BOX. Mine are better than yours anyway. In any other match, sure, help yourself, but in a Platinum farming match, I NEED that ammo/grenades to set up tech bursts and stagger enemies to stop them climbing over the counter and eating your face...
