This is what I meant by using straw man arguments, none of those people saying "You're a support class" ever said that meant 'no grenades for you' or 'you can't spam grenades', you put those words in their mouths.ParatrooperSean wrote...

In short the demo's abilities revolve around grenades, unlike the vast majority of classes his powers are finite and his effectiveness is limited because of this. Now sure i could forgo all my grenades and give them to other people, but at what cost? Do you know how effective a demo is without grenades on platinum? A grenade-less demo might as well be a dead demo. It is in the team’s best interest for the demo to take the grenades from the supply pylon, and any team oriented player would recognize that. Unfortunately many people in this thread don't get that concept. I will give you ammo and i will give you left over grenades, other than that use logic, use the ammo crates outside.
It's like hitting my head against a brick wall, this whole thread has been full of demolishers using straw man arguments, I literally read the entire thread just now, there were about 5 people who suggested that some other classes were just as good with grenades and sharing would be good for them.
Here is the kicker though: No one in this thread ever said that demolishers had to give up all their grenades, at most they asked for a spare one here or there.
Umm... many people made blanket statements "You're a support class" while stating Demolishers are supposed to supply everyone else with grenades.
I think I speak for the vast majority of Demolishers when I say all we ask is that we're given priority over our grenades. If we're nowhere near our pylon then take them, otherwise they go to waste. If we're camped out (near our pylon) on an elevated position that provides good overwatch and we're spamming grenades on top of enemies, ask first.
There are other situations we can cover, but the bottom line is the Demolisher has priority and use common sense.
Demolishers are support in that they can regenerate shields and supply allies when they really need it, other than that no one expects you to give up your pylon completely just share a bit here and there.
Like I said earlier, paladin is also a support class, providing emergency cover, removing shields and debuffing where it's needed, that doesn't mean I don't try and kill everything in sight with my talon/snap freeze combo.
My point is don't jump to conclusions when people call the class support, it doesn't mean you have to serve your team mates every whim, just use your situational awareness and give a helping hand where you can.

But c'mon, don't you feel all fluffy inside when other people benefit from your pylon?? :>
Agree. Setting the pylon once and waiting for it to spawn is one way of playing, but if you need a grenade urgently, just set it up again. And take you pylon with you. Sitting in on corner just because your pylon is there for sure will get you overrun by the enemy. Change position every now and then, putting your pylon next to you.

Can you copy and paste anywhere I put those words in their mouths? Thanks!
My (and others') only contention is other players who don't observe that the Demolishers have priority over their grenades.
There is a plethora of comments such as, "You have weapons, use them" (talking to the Demolisher!), which imply they have just as much right to the grenades as the demolisher.
I know you want really badly for me to be making strawman arguments, but you're wrong as a football bat.

That's all fine and i think most people do that, but you have to consider also the cooldown takes time as does the animation, and it also takes time to find a safe spot to re-deploy your pylon. Then you get a 2 grenades (IF it's spec'd that way) for 1 tech burst, and then you have to rince and repeat.
Treat the Demo like your personal grenade slave and she's out of the fight for much of the time.

I set the pylon as often as CD will allow. Usually throw more than the eleven grenades in a wave. Hell I sometimes throw grenades at my teammates when all of the enemies are dead. A competent demolisher should have no issue supporting their team with the pylon and getting their own grenades.
If you reset your pylon as often as cool down will allow, how is it you are supporting your team?

Can't BW buff Demolishers such that everyone gets grenades and ammo at the same time? Why so stingy?
I'm by no means a nerfer, but that would just be ridiculously stupid powerful. I hate to say it, but I think the fact that the supply allocation is controversial means Bioware did it right.

Finally a man with reason!
I jusr finished a plat game.
In the team I had a QME, and we were camping in the little room on Glacier.
I always se the Pylon, took the granades, moved away, waited for the Pylon to give 2 more nades to the QME, and then set the Pylon again, we constantly had granades (both of us), and it was just so fun and easy.
btw. I scored 1st, and he was right behind me

He completely deserves people stealing his grenades. Because he keeps making the RNG system give me Particle Rifles and other Not Typhoon Ultra Rares. Plus he steals my grenades when I'm Demolishering!
But seriously. The silliness some people will undergo to beat a Demolisher's score is just ridiculous. Good post Ald.

If that's what you choose to do, cool. But the Demo should not be expected to stop what they're doing every 14 seconds, find a safe spot and lay down a pylon. The bottom line is the Demolisher gets priority over her grenades and chooses her own play style.

Actucally it is kind of exspected of the Demolisher to stop what he's doin every 14s. It benefits the team and him more than him firing or throwing grandes would. -..-

So you're saying it benefits the team for the Demolisher every 14 seconds to go find a safe place, and run through the animation of laying their pylon when they can be spending that time doing tech bursts?
OR, they can leave their pylon stationary and when they are elsewhere spamming grenades, other players can take a couple grenades that the Demo won't miss.
OR, if the Demo finds an elevated, covered position that provides good overwatch they can camp by their pylon and continually rain grenades from above.
Who are you to tell others how to play?

Riiiiiight.

Anyway, I redeploy where I stand if I'm camping. Using a mattock lets me keep CD around 85% so four grenades every 15 or so seconds.

You don't have to do the pylon every 14 secs but what the hell difference does it make? I can still chunk 15 or so nades in a wave and finish first on the scoreboard while supporting my team. It honestly isn't that hard for a team in decent cover to support them. Communication is helpful when someone is low on ammo or grenades and also I like to set up the heavy weapon classes with the pylons to buff them and keep them supplied. I don't get where people don't understand the scoreboard doesn't matter as long as you extract but hell you can still finish at the top on a properly specced demolisher.ParatrooperSean wrote...
