Hi,

Probably a silly question - but storywise, would you miss out on anything if you never took a certain companion with you after the inital accepting them in the group?

Allistair - He's the 2nd GW and storywise your pushed to have him with you as you fight to save the world form the blight, etc.

But I'm considering ditching him for another main tank (Shale or maybe Sten - I have a mod with lets me assign stats and skills..). However, this does go somewhat against what the storyline tried to push on you. how much would I miss on main storywise by not having him?

I haven't gotten to Redcliff yet - does he have increased interaction in Redcliff... since he's pushing you to go there, and he grew up there, etc ?

Morrigan - I suspect apart from masses of "Morrigan Dissaproves -over 9000" and her witty banter I'll not miss too much by not having her in my group (I plan on having her on another playthrough...). Yet another character the game somewhat push's on you and seems to get you to take her with you.. but less storyline based pushing imo than Allistair.

Sten - no comment, I saved him but don't feel any push to take him with me (unless I want to be told I'm not really a woman (female pc) because I fight.. lolz!). Reason to take him would be for his story and/or a tank/mdps.

Dog - Hmm, take a dog who is as big as my dwarf pc.. no storyline push, and weaker char since I already have others.

Leliena - another char you don't have to take with you, and apart from her commentary.. probably won't miss much if I didn't take her, no storyline push to take her.

So yeah, just wondering.. because I' considering changing Allistair for either Shale or Sten  - likely to be Shale, what dwarf wouldn't want their own personal golem to help beat stuff up with? lolz (lets just ignore than the remote control doesn't work.. lolz).,... but it makes me wonder just how much i'd miss out on by not having allistair in the group

although he only had 1 lil comment in the talk with Gregoir when discussing the situation in the mages tower.. which seems to suggest I'd not miss terrible much...

Im not sure, but l have this feeling that even if you never take him anywhere...he will do a Wedding Crash scene during the Landsmeet Hallmark Moment.

other then that, the only thing you'd miss out is having to constantly make him feel good about himself.

cheers for that :) So this playthrough, Allistair gets the ditch. lolz

Glad to know that apart from the few side-remarks that I'll likely not miss too much by not having him with me. also good to know that it doesn't spoil/break the main-plot or make me miss anything major with that (which I should have expected.. as if it did break anything i'd expect to see major whines and complaints about it.. lolz).

well remember that hardening alistair make him more willing to be king but if that does not matter to you feel free to ditch him as he will still be king just tad harder to convince him to stay with you if in romance.

He shows up even if he's not in your group if he has important dialogue there, you don't miss out on anything.

I had him in the group the first play-through, but ditched him in subsequent ones after being terribly disappointed in the character. I had no problems whatsoever in-game, and I didn't miss anything.

Other party-members have good inter-group banter too, and he shows up during phases he has to be present anyway.

yeah, Allister is the camp-sitter in all my play throughs...or I should say there to be sat by the others. Leaving anyone behind is going to make you miss out on banter, mostly only " conditional banter" like certain locations, or events....but thats it really nothing to make it so that you HAVE to take someone who is basically useless to the party dynamics.
