Hey I just bought Dragon Age and have been really excited to play it. But whenever I have tried to install it I have been given installation errors, particulaly whenever the intro movie is being installed. I have the log of the installation if thats any help and Im running xp. Any help with this would be appreciaed.

Here the part of the installation that fails:

This appears there's an archive file that can't be opened.  Is this installation from a retail disc or something else?

having the same problem. this is a retail version. purchased online

can you help me with this problem. was running DAo, but decided to get the ultimate edition. wiped of the original game and sub folders tried to load this version and this error is generated.
this is a retail copy .
pc spec winxp sp3, p4, 4 gb ram 128 video card. load of hdd spce.
!st version loaded no issues and played well

Although this may well have no bearing on why the original version seemed to work acceptably for you, and the Roll-up package does not, what you have hinted at without saying so, is that you are running a system that is well below minimum. You are certain to have all manner of problems related to hardware quality that will interfere with trouble shooting, until you totally eliminate the substandard components in favor of upgrades that at least meet the practical minimums (there are some so-called Official Minimums that are pure Pie in the Sky fantasies).

CPU: Intel Core 2 Single (or equivalent) running at 1.6Ghz or greater
AMD 64 (or equivalent) running at 2.0Ghz or greater

(Note: IMO, the practical choices for the two video cards above should be the Radeon X800 Pro, and the Geforce 6800 GS, at least, for small textures - it will take a Radeon X1650 XT (or X1800 GTO, same thing, almost) for medium or better textures)

INTEL'S GARBAGE (Graphics Chip) IS NOT SUPPORTED

reloaded the original disk all loaded without issues. i can only diagnose that these discs are corrupted in some way. and no good to man or beast.

spec of my machine far exceeds the reuired standard set in game perameters. p4 prescott 3.2 ghz. 3gb ram. 500 gb hdd space, nvidia gforce7600 gs 256gb, dvd rom drive. as this has not loaded, i cannot reason with graphic drivers issue.. a sad waste of a good game. whilst i have been reading update i have reloaded orginal game without issue...
